Yeah, I should be taking lots too. I'm taking my Dad's camera this year, as his is a much better camera than mine I took last year.

We've all decided this time we wont be going up the hill, as it takes a long time to get up there and isn't too much to look at, except the rally cars and the cars racing up the hill grouping together. I'd much rather be up-close and explore down there more as we only saw 50% of it all.

Just got back, and it was great! I'll be getting all the photos together at the weekend to post up. I'm COMPLETELY knackered at the moment, so I'll tell you all the details another time.

Had to leave early today to get home for 6pm, but still found time to take 248 photos. Also managed to spend £250 on a bunch of 1:18ths (a 2003 Minardi, a BMW GTR Plain Body in black, a Mazda 787B and a Sauber C9). All the photos need some editing. Highlight of the day: running into Troy Corser, Chris Vermulen and John Reynolds in the paddock. Derek Bell was there later on too. And Petter Solberg.

Back tomorrow, for a proper full day. Supercar paddock in the morning, then a trip up to the rally stage in the afternoon.

...Is it a bad thing when I only recognise fewer than 20 of the nearly 100 drivers listed there (atleast I know the cars, lol)? Granted, being an American we aren't all about the WRC, F1, etc so I don't know everyone there.

But hey, I was surprised to see Richard Petty's name on the list. That is really awsome that he will have his Daytona there and that he will be doing a lap in one of his modern Chargers.

...My family and I are semi-planning a trip to the UK next summer, maybe... If I'm lucky we can attempt to plan it around the event next year, but it all comes down to money...

God I wish I was there. Next year FOR SURE ><

I could have went, well if I hadn't completely forgoten about it and then only realise that it's happening when it's too late to buy tickets.

Back from day 2. Photos taken: 448. Money spent: £2.18. That's better.

Highlights: Robert Doornbos' and Ricardo Zonta's donuts at the top of the hill; wandering around the rally paddock and seeing Markko Martin, Colin McRae, Petter Solberg, Miko Hirovan and Gilles Panizzi, just walking around and looking at cars like everyone else; hearing the Renault F1 team playing the French national anthem with a V10; eating my lunch with a Pagani Zonda F as something to lean against; having a CLK DTM overtake me on the way home (the noise!).

The bad bit: I broke my camera near the end of the day, but never fear, I've sourced another one for tomorrow.

All my pictures will need warmifying - for some reason the now-broken camera always cranked up the blue when the shutter button was pressed. No, I couldn't change it. Only one day left :( It's gone so fast!

I'm also back, oh and Roo I may of been standing a couple meters from you lol. Why do I say this, well someone looking at the Mini Cooper Rally car looked like you?

Oh the Veyron was really hot and I don't mean by its power, it really was hot from the heat, which came from the engine.

And one more thing, I recorded some videos at the FOS, so I will be posting them up on GameSpot user videos. But does anyone know when the 2006 FOS will be on TV?

End of Day 3, and the end of the Festival :( Bought another 3 1:18ths, worth £140 in total, which I got for a total of £60. Ahh, the glories of end-of-show bargin hunting.

Highlights: The burnouts, from Gary Paffett (who set the brakes of the SLR on fire from the constant abuse), from Jenson Button (see the video!) and from Jeremy McWilliams, who manganed to leave a line of rubber almost the entire length of the hill on a BMW bike.

The Festival is absolutly amazing. But to make the weekend that little bit more special, the best piece of advice I can give is this:

Stay late.

Stay as late as you can. The crowds disappear, quite a few of the cars are still out on display in the paddock, and (on Sunday) they have prizegiving, after which Lord March throws open the doors of Goodwood House and lets anyone and everyone in. Which means you can have a natter with Dan Gurney or Alan Jones, for example, over a free glass of champagne and a piece of cake. Also gives the opportunity to do something I now try to do after every Festival and Revival Meeting: go up to Lord March and personally thank him.

Time to have a wander through James' thread.

If it was in the afternoon, then it probably was me. You should've come and said hello.

It's usually on about a week after the show, so look out for it next weekend.

*bumpity bumpity bump*

For those of you in the UK:

The Goodwood FoS highlights are being shown on Tuesday 3rd October, 11pm, ITV1. 1 hour long. Set your video recorders now!

So heres a good question:

My family and I are thinking about planning a trip to the UK in the near-future. Is it worth it to plan on visiting Goodwood, or just stick to the normal "lets go dink around in London" deal that everyone does?

I think it's worth it 100%. I'm pretty sure you've seen GTP member's photos already (like mine - the link in my Signiture if you haven't already), so it's whether you and your family really want to go there or not! :)

I'm sure you could travel back to London after the event, unless there's a problem with that?

Definately worth it. You can get a train from London to Chichester, and they run a bus service for the last 4 miles to Goodwood (first bus is at 8.30am, last bus is 7pm). It'll probably be expensive - a 2006 Saturday ticket was around £40 (under 12s free with an adult, tickets are advance only), so about £80 total - and you'll have the train ticket on top of that, about £27 for the family, and the bus, which I'm not sure about. Take your own food, the burger bars are extorsionate. So I'm guessing - befor efood and anything you buy whilst you're there - that you're looking at £120 maximum, which is approximately $225. (I'm assuming your kids are under 12 in all of that.)

I usually spend about £200 (a weekend ticket for both the Festival and the Revival, plus petrol and food) plus whatever I buy when I'm there - I comfotably spent well over £250 more this year, mostly on 1:18th scale models. But if you're only there for one day, I would suggest you spend half the day wandering round the paddocks, an hour or so on the hill (make sure you're there when the F1 cars go up!) and the rest of the day getting freebies off the manufacturer stands.

But I digress. If you can afford it, go - you'll love it.

The Festival Highlights are also being shown on Speed in the US, but not sure when yet.

Yeah, we've been thinking about it. I've been pulling for the UK or Germany, Mom wants to go to France, and Aunt Nancy wants Italy. As I continue to stress, "we aren't made of money," so we are going to have to pick just one. So then Mom read-up on some stuff, thought maybe it would be better to go to England for the Olympics, but I don't want to wait that long.

...Then Australia came up, and that has been messing with a lot of things as well. Good exchange rates (atleast for Americans) make it cheaper than going to the UK (bad, very bad, exchange rates!), and I belive airfare is nearly the same.

So, I dunno. I really, really, really want to go to Goodwood no matter the cost involved in doing it. Problem is, school is expensive and I realy can't afford to take much more than a week, two-weeks at the most, off from work. That said, I may be going to Ireland (Tully Cross, County Galway) not too far down to road for school, but nothing is solid yet.

But, I'm still pulling for London at the least!
