Say for instance the three super gt cars (NSX/Lexus/GTR) are what we think they are..

And say for instance they do go into a brand new class called Gr2..

That’s three cars for a whole class, I realise they can add to that in the future but that would be so boring for sport mode

And up to a potential 5 with DTM! Slim class.

With how fantasy racecar happy PD is with GT Sport chances are that they may expand it with more cars based on existing sportscars like Group 3.

Gr. 2 would most likely have these:

(based on 2016-spec cars, since we're likely to have 2016-spec GT500 cars, and if ever DTM comes to GT Sport, might as well bring the 2016-spec cars too...)

Super GT: (Honda NSX-GT GT500, Lexus RC F GT500 and Nissan GT-R GT500)- 550hp/1020kg (FR)
DTM: (Audi RS 5 DTM, BMW M4 DTM and Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM)- 500hp/1120kg (FR)

This would mean that the DTM cars will need some serious BoP to keep up with the Super GT cars since they have 50 more ponies and weigh 100 kilos less.

For Super GT, each of the cars would count for 15 liveries (five for the Honda NSX-GT, six for the Lexus RC F and four for the Nissan GT-R), and 23 for DTM (seven for the Audi RS 5 DTM, eight for both the BMW M4 DTM and Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM. It would've been 24 liveries if ever, but the Playboy livery on the Audi is definitely illegal to use on a video game due to, well, you-know-what.)

The lack of a Playboy livery wouldn't be a problem I have a few in my garage that I made :sly: Biggest problem I can see with all this is first and foremost the sheer lack of tracks for any new car groups to actually race on that actually fit with where they would race in reality.

Le Mans is probably what you and all of us here are thinking of, with respect to Gr. 1 cars...

Well at least for Gr. 2 we have Nurburgring GP and Suzuka...

Although the Gr concept is a step in the right direction . It needs to be restructured .
The simple truth is we can't race Lmp1 cars from 1989 against modern ones .

We actually don't know because the new lmp2's only run one track where Super GT runs- Fuji. Last year the race was completely wet for the WEC round at Fuji, so we can't get a dry comparison until this year (hopefully) if it's dry. Even then, the times of year are different so the temperature is off. That might skew things a little because Super GT runs when it's very warm at Fuji which will slow the times. In preseason testing this year at Fuji, Super GT GT500's have been in the 1:28's for fast laps. They're usually in the 1:32's during race pace because they're full of fuel and have success ballast added to their minimum weight (1020+kg).
They will be slower this year anyway the cars have less downforce this year.

I was more thinking along the lines of Japanese tracks at least where Super GT spec cars are concerned, But it applies for all groups really :sly:

So Super GT cars have a minimum weight of 1020 KG? I thought it was 1100 KG... But then again, that's probably how much they weigh with fuel. My initial thoughts is that Group 2 will be a class where the cars have 650 HP and 1100 KG, limited just to Super GT. Unless Group 2 has been allocated for LMP2, and Super GT falls into another class; as in Group SGT. Yet I doubt this due to "that" tweet.

It would've been more logical if Gr.2 was separated into Gr.2A and Gr.2B, with the former being for the more powerful race cars (Super GT GT500), and the latter being for the less powerful ones (cars which are merely speculation at this point, we don't even know if PD has plans for adding DTM cars into the game at all.) But if they do get added into Gr.2 as well, then it's most likely that BoP would require Super GT to get nerfed to high-heaven unless PD has a clever way of structuring the groups.

We all have to remember that Super GT and DTM have a similar structure since they are silhouette touring cars and could potentially compete closely with each other.

It's been said that next year's DTM season will have similar regulations to Super GT cars in terms of engine technology.
