Gran Turismo 2 was imo one of the best games released on the PS1 and is one of the best driving games in history with it's great car selection, tracks, & the graphics were decent for a PS1 game.

There was also a lot of great content scrapped from the game before it's final release such as some race tracks like Cote d' Azur, Indy Speedway, & etc. as well as some cars scrapped such as the Mercedes Benz CLK GTR Race Car, Castrol Mugen Accord, Mugen S2000, even some lamborghinis I've recently heard of on some of the threads on here.

What if Polyphony Digital had GT2 ported to the PS3 under PS1 classics, but with all of the scrapped content added to it, slightly enhanced graphics like on the bleemcast version of the game, & online capabilities added? It could be also for the PS Vita and PSP. Tell me what you think.

One thing I've learned about the 32bit-era games is they really do look crappy these days, through even the rosiest of rose-tinted glasses. The 2d stuff (Genesis/SNES era) is acceptable because it has a style of its own, but the early 3d/polygonal stuff just looks very dated.

I'd pass.

While this is definitely the case for games like Wild Arms (dear Lord, my eyes! They bleed!), Gran Turismo 2 isn't that bad. But in any case, I don't think it'll happen; too many licensing issues with companies that have changed hands a dozen times or gone completely out of business since the game came out.

Yeah it looks dated, but games aren't about graphics, the game is still fun to play and I consider it to be a future classic imo. The graphics aren't that bad for a game released in the late 90s on the PS1. oh well, it's your opinion.

I totally agree on this! They should make an HD version of the game for PS3 (or the upcoming PS4). They should make it exactly the same as before but with better graphics and the ability to hold 1000 cars in the garage instead of 100. As for the secret cars and tracks as well as the ones that never made it at all, i think they could be DLC. I still ove gran turismo 2 very much and if they made a HD version, it would be a hit!:cheers:

I was thinking more of a Gran Turismo 2 that had all of the cars & tracks added to it that were originally cut from the game and have it added to the PS network with slight HD enhancements.

You know, I've thought about how a GT2: Redux would turn out for a while now... So, I guess here is what I'd like to see:

1) All of the cars, tracks & gameplay modes (Drag Racing chiefly) that were cut from development reinstated (This would include all of the Hondas PD cut out for the NTSC release as well as cars like the Mercedes CLK Touring Car & CLK-GT2, though I'm not sure if cars like the Ferrari F355 JGTC 300 and Yellow Corn Mclaren F1 GTR are still around to make models of).

2) New RM's for cars that had them in real life, but were absent in GT2 (A Dodge Challenger/Plymouth Barracuda 70's Trans-Am RM, the 4-Door Skyline RM's that were cut from the game, various Mercedes Touring Car RM's, a BMW 850i RM Etc. Etc.).

3) Online play with up to six racers on any given track as well as online car trading and a worldwide leaderboard to compare fastest lap/fastest total times.

4) Reworked graphics that are about as good as GT1's, if not better...

And that's all I can think of at the moment...

The garage thing they did, but thats all. It's not like GT2.

Yea that works that to!:dopey:

Totally agreed! 👍

For graphics and visuals, I would want something like this. The graphics are improved, but they are still true to their original roots :D.

Of course, I'm talking about 0:24 to 2:13.

The unedited version looks better to me. The high contrast just makes everything darker black. The only thing that is "better" is the glowing sky, because it makes the graphics more alive.

YES! That's exactly what I was thinking!

Or why doesn't some lucky guy snatch the GT2 source code, port it to PC under a different name (like Nissan Turismo 2) and update it regularly?

GT2 HD is impossible due to, as someone above said, licensing issues. More doable is GT1 HD, but i prefer in hoping that GT6 will be like GT2. That means much bigger than the predecessor at the same console gen. and some (much) things too.

You have a point, PD doesn't seem to have some licenses that they had back in 1999 for car makes such as Vector & Venturi.

I think GT6 will be bigger than GT5 though because that seems to be the pattern in the GT series. GT2 was bigger than GT1 & GT4 was bigger than GT2.
