Does a Gran Turismo 5 unofficial commercial sound like a good idea?

I like the video editing. I hate the song being chosen. The lyrics of "Better Than You" and the beat aren't matching the mood of the clips being chosen.

My 2 cents.

I am sorry but that preview is horrible.

The worst part by far is that music. What were you thinking? GT is meant to have some class, that song I would expect only to be the sound track to a bar fight. This is not nascar.

Pick some music that you can work with and start from there. You need something that builds and has peaks and lows so you can match action to it. Take a look at any of the GT intro moves for reference, they know how to match visuals with music. Your clip is just horrid music with seemingly random images. You need to tell a story through your images and music, but what story have you been telling so far?

I know my words are harsh and will most likely be shouted down by most others here, but someone has to say it. You need to work harder. And BTW if you are going to take video from the menu screens then disconnect from the internet because i *think* it will stop the text from scrolling across the bottom of the screen which looks very bad in a video like that.

first, im not agree with you, i think its good doing something different sometimes, and for the scrolling text, simply press R1, for zoom in.

Good work, man! I'll have to agree that the song choice leaves something to be desired (if you wanna stick with newer Metallica, I'd go with "Fuel"), but aside from that, great work so far! And also, I dunno if there's anything you can do about it, but the vid looks like it's in the wrong aspect ratio in some spots. Keep up the good work, man. Maybe if PD sees this commercial, they'll understand just how rabid (read: dedicated) we are over here at GTP and make a GTP theme race car a la the GT themed cars like the Ford GT, the GTR LM, the XJ220, etc...

Not bad if this is your first attempt. If possible, try to edit the video in a way where the cuts sync with the music. Its a simple way of getting the video to flow with the song. I do like Metallica, however the way you edited the video to it, it doesn't match very well which throws off the feel to the video. Years ago for fun i edited a quick GT video, if i can i will throw it up for you to get an idea of what i mean. Keep working on it though.

Don't forget that's just a preview. I'm still working on making it better.

Still workin' at it. I'm supposed to be grounded right now so it will be a while. (smart-mouthing my parents)

Surely being grounded should mean that you can spend more time on the video?! hehe...

Having just watched the preview again, can i agree with the suggestions made about dropping the Metallica track. GT's never been about pounding heavy metal (sorry to disappoint, it's good but not the right place for it).

If you want to keep the dance track at the start, perhaps tryp clipping or stretching some of the clips slightly so that all of the transitions work with the music (another point already made i know).

After the panning shot over the roof of the F430, instead of cutting to a front view, have a search for any video of it pulling out of the garage OR cut (with a tween (gradual fade up)) to the shot of the Nissan GTR pulling out of the garage from the High Performance trailers http://www.gametrailers.com/player/31636.html

I think that should make the section flow a little better because at the moment it jumps from sat in garage to on track.

Music wise, i'd like to suggest We Come One or Insomnia by Faithless. Both have really strong baselines (allowing for rapid flash cuts and stutters (like those in several of the GT5P trailers) and also build up into a crescendo (peak) which would create more tension and make the film more immersive.

Sorry if it sounds like i'm ripping your work to pieces, all my comments are meant as constructive criticism. I had the same things said to me when i started making promo videos for events and it's improved my video composition and editing no end!

Good luck and i can't wait to see the end product! Perhaps on the 28th march or the 17th april?

SolidSnakes efforts got me thinking about videos etc.

So a few days ago, i started a project as a break from uni work. It's only 45seconds in and there's still lots to do and things to change, but hey ho!

it's set to The Pretender by the Foo Fighters (from the album Echos,Patience,Silence,Grace).

At present it's all footage from trailers etc just recut, but if anyone wishes to put in some footage of them you're more than welcome and full credits will be given!

Any constructive comments and criticism would really be appreciated!

Oh, and the repeated TVR dip at the end has already been deleted, i just forgot to remove it before saving the clip.

EDIT: Video now embedded.

I want to watch your video Legroom, however you haven't embedded your video properly. Could you provide a link?

Good to see another Foo Fighter fan.

Instead of using HTML to post your video, you can simply enclose it in youtube tags, like so:

[ YOUTUBE ]VUAV01CbM_8[ /YOUTUBE ]

Remove spaces around the brackets. 👍

Had forgotten about this thread. I've got about 8 replays that need ripping. They'll be up sometime between F1 airings.

Legroom, its off to a good start, I think you may have shown a bit too much of the GTR though, try showing some stuff of the F430 and the other cars, I presume your downloading these off a website with a collection of these videos? If so as I said try out looking at some different cars.

I know awhile ago I made a remixed version of the GT5P Introduction and I believe that I tended to show a minxture of different cars.

Yeah, the vast majority of the clips have come from Gamersydes video gallery at present...

I understand what you mean about the GTR, my reasoning behind this is 2 fold. The GTR is (in my view) THE car of GT5/GT5P like the Ford GT was in GT4. The other reason is that i wanted to get some continuity at the very start from a car being unveiled pulling out of the garage and then onto track.

From the start of the drums there's going to be a lot less of the GTR and a lot more of everything else. I've also got a cool plan for the F430, but need to edit about a minute and a half more video!

Thanks for the comments, i hope my answers have justified some of my choices so far

Also, Speedster another Foo Fighters fan indeed! Can't wait to go and see them at Wembley in June! :D

Here are 8 more replays. All grip racing. I packaged them all up in a zip file this time, so here are the files within.

- Lotus Elise '96 (Eiger)
- Mustang V8 GT (Fuji Speedway F)
- Mustang V8 GT (Daytona Road Course)
- Mustang V8 GT (Eiger)
- Mustang V8 GT (London)
- GT-R (Eiger)
- BMW Z4 (London)

Fantastic Z! Thank you very much mate!
I'm busy for most of the next 10days, so progress will be slow, but i'll take a gander at them and see about getting them in there and post a progress update as quick as possible

Thanks for your support!

Thanks everyone for the opinions. I'll look into changing the song. (considering 'The Pretender)

And the reason being grounded gives me less time to work on it is because I'm not allowed on the computer very often. I might be getting off on Monday.

Yeah I did not like the song you had in the preview.. the fist intro was good tho ;)

Usually, don't go with music you LOVE, just something you like and that you know a lot of RACING people like as well. Trance, Rock, some classical even, but Heavy metal or something really extreme wont sound too good. So just go what racing fans listen to :)

I am now taking song suggestions. I might not be on for a few more days so just keep 'em comin'. I'll take the song off the first page.

Still need more videos!

As a song suggesttion...erm...

Iron Maiden - Number of the Beast (If thats too "rock" then how about...)

Foo Fighters - All My Life

Z

I'm downloading your vids now. Thanks for more stuff to work with!

EDIT: I'm going to throw 'The Pretender' into the video and see how it works. If it doesn't fit with what I've got now I'll start over again.
