This update contains (we presume) one of the most legendary classic racing cars around, a car which was in the conversation among motoring enthusiasts last month as the third pending car of the next hypercar holy trinity after Ferrari unveiled the F80 and McLaren the W1, and one of the most-requested vehicles in our Suggestions forum.

Seems like a nice, cool set to me. But then again...

I don't even know what the Mission X is. Or what a W1 is. Only saw a pic of the F80 and meh. Also never heard of this Mercedes thing til now.

Do I get a cookie? :sly: Bring on the 80s and 90s cheap beaters!

Bought a Pro for GT8

Edit: You know.. one could argue I've never heard of the mercedes because it wasn't in a GT game (I'm assuming) lol

Yay, update incoming! :D

I'm very happy with this lineup, but to me the stars of the show will be the iconic Escort (obviously...) and that gorgeous Mercedes race car from the 50's... I really like these GP racecars back from a time when it was all about the driver and its machine, no electronic shenanigans like ABS or traction control... it's as analogical as it gets.
Back then, driving those cars would separate the men from the boys!

Must be an absolute blast to drive!!

A quick numbers race about the 1954 Mercedes-Benz W196. If Tthe car is 20,000,000 Cr., you’d need 400,000,000 Cr. To replicate the twenty cars on a 1954 Formula One grid. If players can swing that in the next couple weeks while cars are on sale, the races that can be replicated that year are:

  • Grand Prix Belgium/Spa-Francorchamps(36 Laps)
  • Grand Prix Germany/Nurburgring(22 Laps)
  • Grand Prix Italy/Monza(80 Laps)

Happy collecting!

The sweet symphony of the W196’s straight-eight.

Fangio’s W196R sold ten years ago for $29.6 million.

Also, this W196 Streamliner, driven by Fangio and Moss is going to be auctioned soon and is estimated to sell for $70 million.

I think it’s safe to say the car will cost 20 million credits. The W196 is motorsport and F1 royalty.

Left car could be a '57 250 testarossa?

On the right a speed 6? Just throwing some leftfield suggestions (hopes) out there 😀

I mean… :sly:…. Five members, but that’s more than none. ;)

PD: Here's a collection of premium racing vehicles.

Fans: Cossie!

PD: But the expensive cars?

Fans: I'm going to live like it's a 90’s episode of The Bill. In my Cossie.

PD: Sigh.

New Extra Menu - "TWOC in the Nineties"

Featuring:

Escort Cosseh
Sierra Cosseh
BMW M3 E36

Presumably to be swiftly followed by another extra menu - "Police Interceptors", featuring a couple of M5s and an Impreza.

Anyone know if a BoP update is also expected next week?
PD could do anything at any time. But I wouldn't expect a BoP change this close before the GTWS finals.

The last two years have followed the same pattern with end of season BoP - the next update after the world finals updated the BoP only for the qualifying manufacturers in Gr.3, and then there's been a bigger change in the spring.

To drum up some fun relevant conversation:

Anyone have examples of the Escort for GT/Road race use? All I can think of is its use in rally. @05XR8 I know you're pretty good at this stuff.

If so, I hope to see some good liveries.

You’d have to Google Carlos Palau. He raced some 4WD Fords in Spanish Touring Cars. Other than that, older Escorts may have to used as inspiration for liveries, if rally liveries are not preferred.

Yup, as @05mentioned, Carlos Palau drove one at the CET (Campeonato de España de Turismos)

Here you have the Escort at the most iconic urban circuit in Spain (Montjuich aside) Circuito de Guadalope, in Alcañiz, Aragón. I remember watching some CET races live on TV back then.
It seems that Palau's car (Spanish Ford works team) was built by Wolf Racing, the ones who built some DTM Sierras like Würth liveries one.
The Cossie Escort has an interesting Bond with Spain, its first victory was in a Spanish rally before being homologated because the Spanish Gravel rally championship admitted non homologated, prototypes and even group b cars back then.
In my region, a very famous local rally ace won several championships with one and is restoring it to its former glory, his workshop is pretty close to my village.
