Oh it's only a pre load.... Booo! Was hoping it was an early update.

Driving to Gatwick at 7am tomorrow so I'm gonna miss this!!!! 10 days of sunshine but I will be on a beach living vicariously through you lot frantically refreshing this forum all week for all the gossip 😂😂

It's a big file size but that doesn't necessarily mean lots of new content, remember back to the fake Olympics time trial at Deep Forest, we all had to download that as a whole new circuit with the custom branding rather than it being a small patch.

PD are not always efficient with these things.

Yeah but Eiger and a completely new tire model and extra rims turned out to be just under 5 gigs.

Just thinking out loud here. PS5 Pro changes aside, the size of the update makes me wonder if the update will foreshadow My First Gran Turismo, which is said to get released during the 2024 holiday season. So that must be pretty soon…

I highly doubt that the trial version’s UI will recycle the almost 3 year-old interface in GT7, and it’s reasonable to assume that PD wants a consistent visual identity across MFGT and the full GT7 experience. So I’d say there’s a possibility that GT7 has undergone a transformation in terms of how the game presents itself.

I'm hoping they fix the oscillation issues and weak trueforce in this update. I use a G Pro and tried using the Audi R18 last night... The oscillation was absolutely terrible at full ffb, turned it down to 5 in game and it was still pretty awful.

Chonky update.

Track?

Other games have had pre-loaded updates for a while. Pretty neat you don't have to rely on your internet being good the moment the update drops.

It looks like my first gran Turismo is just a demo of GT7. I honestly didn't even know it was a thing until you mentioned it, haven't been keeping up with GT7 for a while now so I'm definitely not informed to make a real opinion other than thinking it's just going to be a stripped down version of GT7.

I didn’t say otherwise, did I? However, the trial is not going to be named GT7 despite serving as a demo for GT7. We can probably expect something fresh from it, which might also get reflected within GT7 in order to streamline both titles.

No you didn't say anything wrong...i guess I read it kinda wrong. It will be interesting if they do a full UI overhaul before they release the demo.

For some scale on how big 32GB is - the listed size of every PS5 patch between 1.32 (April 2023) and 1.52 (last month) sums up to pretty much 32GB give or take some rounding. And that includes the Spec II update that is by far the biggest at ~8.6GB.

It makes me want to say not to get your hopes up for a track just because it's too big a discrepancy to just indicate that.

So curious what we will see in the trailer later today.
A good pro update (not only RT, probably more) and improvements for the VR mode would be all I’m hoping for.
Anything else like a new track would only be a cherry on the cake.
Please not let them destroy the image quality with a bad PSSR implantation, I hope Polyphony found a way to make it right.

As an aside, that download ETA in the image represents 111Mbps, and GT7 updates usually come a lot closer to my actual bandwidth here - currently 300Mbps - which suggests there's quite a few people downloading it. Imagine if it had been everyone at 0600UTC tomorrow

My guess is that the 32GB indicates the PS5 Pro enhancements must be fairly significant for file size purposes. Not getting carried away until the trailer drops.

I realise this is likely a case of “No **** Sherlock” but curiosity wins here for me.

I think I have a little bit of time for a cup of coffee on this one…

Ah. Reminds me of where I used to live 24Mb download and the same 2 days to download GT7, realising the game wasn’t on disc. What a disappointment that experience was on day of release.

I will eat my shorts (jk won't actually do that) if those 32GB is anything more than our regular update and 5 cars with PS5 Pro patch. Maybe some other improvements, but I'm sure the reason for this file size is not some massive track (or any track at all).

I know the PS4 and PS5 versions can have different install sizes for updates, but is that also the case with PS5 and PS5 Pro? Trying to understand why the PS5 update file is just as big as the Pro's unless there really is more than the upgraded assets etc.

The game files will be identical. If it does contain stuff like higher res textures specifically for the Pro, the lower res files will remain in them and the game chooses depending on the hardware used.
