Hasn't played since January, still posts about it though.
Its the same over on the Forza Motorsport forums, people come on there and advertise the fact they are uninstalling the game,I mean that will really stick it to microsoft wont it.Then the same people complain about every update even though they dont play the game anymore.Crazy, but this in the internet.

They're not gonna give up millions of PS5 potential buyers, GT8 will be crossgen 100%.
Depends when the game arrives, it could also be an excellent PS6 seller game.
Very little, if anything, is going to be PS6 (or PS6+PC)-exclusive. The reality is that with how standardised consoles are these days, and with how much games cost to make, it's almost always worth building your game in a scalable fashion to target last-gen (or PC or Switch 2 if you're a third party) and be able to sell your game to that big remaining install base. It's not like the PS3 era where porting to the Cell would be a big investment that you might not recoup.

This will be even more true next gen - the PS4 is a weak machine even for its time that is definitely holding games back mechanically. The PS5 is by comparison much stronger and has much more relevant tech; unless something unexpected happens PS5 ports of PS6 games are likely just graphical downgrades.

Which part? 0.1% I'm sure if you compare the number of active GTPlanet users to the copies sold, the number roughly tracks.
I specifically said how players “feel”. This should tell you I wasn’t commenting on the number of people discussing the game on internet forums vs. the number of GT7 players everywhere else.
Or the part about casual players liking the update? There are a lot of car fans that don't watch any motorsport. And if they do, maybe it's F1. What do they care about another GT3 car in the game? To them, they all look the same and drive the same, and there are plenty of them in the game already.
Where did I say anything about watching motorsport? I didn’t. I said one cannot simply assume that casual players have no preferences when it comes to cars in GT7. There are lots of people out there who like racing games without playing them at hobby level. However, this does not mean that all these so-called casuals are completely accepting of bland cars like the Renault Kangoo. Lots of people have their automotive preference, and you cannot simply say everyone who isn’t on GTP and similar is “extremely happy about variety, nostalgic ****boxes, and oddball additions.” Like I said, baseless claim.

I know a few people who don’t care all that much about GT7 despite owning the game themselves. They know I follow the game closely and they almost held me accountable when the Unimog was added to their horror.

Honestly I'm hoping its not gonna be and will be a exclusive PS5 or PS6. If it is crossgen then we are going to run into the exact same problems that gt7 has in that it is held back and cannot fully utilize the full power of the new gen because of the limitations of the older tech.

I doubt the PS5 will hold back the PS6 that much because it will be similiar having zen cpu and rdna gpu

PS4 is much much older cpu that was old even when PS4 launched + being HDD console

We're past huge hardware leaps, adding RTGI and RT Shadows will be the next step for GT and gonna take most of PS6's power, but they're not gonna remake car and track models ever again

Minor point to the original article, the Vantage that arrived in 2018 is not the latest version of the car. The 2025 Vantage is a notable step up. I know because I’ve driven both. Cool addition but I’d be more excited if it was truly the latest model.
A step up it may be, but the 2024 car is a facelift - which is why I go on to note that I can't see any of the facelift (or V12) features and think it's the original.

I like the idea of the invitations, but not the implementation.

It'd be better if you could win invitations directly from completing a manufacturer-specific event, like the Ferrari Circuit Challenge.
Or if you had to reach a certain "brand affinity" level (like in Forza Motorsport 4) to be able to buy more exclusive cars.

ref the Kangoo/Kubistar - Nice to get some payload options like the Unimog, ...........still not sure if that pic is mk 1 or 2 .....

Since it’s apparently the very first gen, pre-facelifted Kangoo, which ran from 1997 to 2002, I’m really curious to see if it’s an early or late one, because depending on the exact year, it might end up in Brand Central as well following the 2001 onwards rule, and that will be interesting.

OMG, the moment I saw the word "kangoo" on the article, my brain just exploded...

My dad owned one for almost 20 years, it was the 1st gen 1.9 liter diesel, pretty much the same engine as the standard Clio.

Obviously it's not the 4x4 version, just the humble front-wheel-drive donkey (lol), but I can tell you: despite being a cheap french car, it's actually a pretty sturdy and dependable vehicle.
I don't remember my dad having any major issues with it, apart from changing the plugs once. A few touches here and there but nothing too serious... not bad for a car with well over 300.000kms on the clock.

It has a pretty good fuel economy, even for today's standards, it's nimble and easy to drive once you get used to the slightly "heavy" clutch pedal and sensitive brakes, especially when it's cold.

Curiously, this was the very first car I've ever driven, even before getting my driver's license! My dad used to take me to this quiet road at the back of the house, tell me to engage 1st gear and just let me drive the thing on idle back and forth

He definitely put this workhorse and all of its payload to good use throughout the years, from doing his daily commute to work which could be close by, or in the middle of the city, or even do some "off-road" with it to collect wood... to even go on a road trip to the beach with the family, with the back absolutely filled with luggage and myself feeling cramped for the entire trip because there's only 2 seats available, so I had to stay hidden in the back (true story, and luckily the police never caught us!)

Sadly, a few years ago my dad decided it was time to let it go and sell it... he almost shed a tear, that's how much he loved the thing!

So long story short, I'm definitely excited to see just what version are we getting in GT7. And I'd totally bet we're getting a Kangoo instead of a Kubistar, since there's such a huge Kangoo cult in Japan, it just makes sense.

I’ll mark them as naive bull**** if you don’t mind?

Also, even if GT8 is released next month I fail to see how it would be a big improvement over GT7.
The list of things the PS4 is holding back has been growing steadily bigger recently - we know from that dev on Reddit that it restricts track design, we know from World Series drivers mentioning it that it's why online lobbies are only 16 players, we know it's why even when ready Sophy can't be integrated into the main game races, it's very likely why time of day/weather is so haphazardly available.

Sure, there's game design pieces PD have to put together and correct that I think it's fair to be sceptical on (a less linear career, not locking items behind RNG, the 95% AI throttle thing, freshening up Sport Mode/online, penalty systems). But not being tied to a 12-year-old piece of hardware is going to be a bigger jump forward than you might expect.

Thank you for the perfect answer. He said everything.

The CPU on the PS5 is quite aged at this point compared to current ones. If the rumor / leak of PS6 having a Zen 6 CPU with 3D cache it's going to be a gigantic leap, not all that different from PS4->PS5 from a power perspective.

That said I think the days of technology restricting game design are kinda over. Just can't imagine what PD could want to do that would overwhelm the PS5.
