While no track as expected, sophy in custom races is a game changer, specially seeing that now Sophy can drive tunned cars; also new scapes!!!

I am curious to see the customization available for the kangoo, the CX-30 apparently is a mild hybrid version but the good thing is that mazda is not using CVTs on their cars, so the potential is higher than with the C-HR lol

Perfect! Sophy in Custom Races is a feature I've really wanted to see since its introduction in GT7. Finally, I can do proper battles on the Nürburgring and won't see Eckert's Rod & Custom Mach Forty or Wicked Fabrications anymore. Hopefully, the maximum difficulty Sophy won't be as slow as it is now. Fingers crossed.

Not a bad update and the sophy a I is cool looking forward to trying this out. Still hoping there are some tracks coming, classic GT tracks and it’s a free update but still think we due for a track or to, even a classic track pack dlc I’ll pay for it.
Also wouldn’t mind seeing b spec return, manage our own a I driver etc and I would leave PS5 on over night for some endurance events. Cool update though didn’t expect the Sophy a I custom races etc. (cool video on PlayStation YouTube channel about Sophy 2.1)

My guesses for new events:

European Clubman Cup 600

Japanese FF Challenge 450

European Sunday Cup 400

I also imagine the Kangoo and CX-30 will get swaps at some point. I could especially see the former getting the SR20DET from the S15 Silvia and the latter getting the 13B from the FD RX-7. I would also be very surprised if the Unimog doesn’t get a swap as well, either in this update or in the future.

EDIT: Now that we’re also getting a Suzuki-themed Extra Menu, are there other brands that haven’t had their own Extra Menus that I likely forgot about? Perhaps Citroen?

The following new events have been added to ‘World Circuits’:

Sunday Cup: Brands Hatch Indy Circuit
European Clubman Cup 600: Deep Forest Raceway Reverse
Japanese FF Challenge 450: Tokyo Expressway – Central Counterclockwise

Seeing how other cars like the Unimog have been treated, it is likely that the Kangoo will have custom parts at GT Auto to remove the windows and leave the opaque panel like the commercial cargo version.
If not you can do it in the livery editor, I like the people carrier look though,it feels more unique than a van.

WAIT! Hold the phone!!! What have I been saying?!!!!:eek::eek::eek:

During the trailer, there's a quick tandem of three cars snaking through traffic. Has anyone seen a feature for that?

Nah, what these cars(R33, FD, A80) are doing, we can’t do alone.

If that’s just showcasing multiplayer with AI traffic(regardless of the slow cars as traffic for this clip), cool. If it’s linking cars together by cruising(a la Forza), that’s something that may be in a future update.

FINALLY, tandem driving with SOPHY! ;)

Last year November with the Spec 2.0 trailer, we saw the clip at Tokyo Expressway with the three cars driving in tandem. SOPHY has learned Tokyo Expressway. I’m still thinking more has to come with SOPHY learning. Again, PD can’t just put this clip in and not do something with it.

They haven’t done it in a way to race with players in tandem. Single player races, Custom Race or Lobby.

I know they don’t. I say it myself. This is just very specific, as we can not do that clip in the game at all. No AI traffic option in any mode of the game. There must be more to it.

I like the cars this update. Never heard of the Kangoo before this so I will at least buy one and play around with it. I like Vantage and the Cx30 is cool. Sophy in custom races is awesome. I am curious as to what engine swaps will be available. I am still holding out hope that they give Tuscan a V12 so we kinda sorta make a Speed 12 if you squint your eyes and tilt your head a little bit :)

Does this mean that I can setup a custom online race with a friend and fill the rest of the grid with Sophy agents?
That would be awesome, but I guess they would show this in the trailer if that was part of the update. I am skeptical of this being feasible with GT7, considering you would have to run multiple Sophy instances on server. That would get silly expensive real fast.

I did a similar race with Testarossa and Evo 6 last week on Tokyo Expressway, with the rest of the grid being regular cars all detuned as much as possible to keep them slow. And the way Testarossa AI driver was slamming the brakes behind almost every single slow car almost ruined the whole thing. I wonder if Sophy will do a better job with that.

This community is so funny in the best way. I'm all about interesting regular traffic cars, but there's so many exciting performance cars I'd like to see in the game (G.M.A. T.50, C8 Z06, McLaren Senna, road Zondas, 488 Pista, 296, 812 comp., Huracan STO) that seeing a CX-30 hurts my soul. That said, a community which gets excited about a Kangoo in the game is exactly the community I want.

(EDIT: You can see from my profile that I've not posted a lot, but I have been following along for a long time. So I'm not new to this phenomenon :)

Sophy in custom races, with custom tuned cars no less, is really exciting! I've got a bunch of custom grids that I've been working on for months that I'm excited to be able to finally try out with an AI that can actually take advantage of my tunes. Will still have to wait and see how it's actually implemented, but it's a promising step in the right direction.

I'm also excited for the Kangoo, oddly enough. I can't wait to see the available tuning options and the custom liveries that'll be made in the coming days/weeks. And maybe a Day 1 engine swap (c'mon BRZ Drift LS7 🫰)?

I’m going to guarantee SOPHY will. Just like in the video clip. So, keeping certain assigned cars to top out at road legal speed limits, SOPHY should “behave” accordingly to navigate slower traffic.

My assumption is that the tuning thing is just a weirdly-worded way of expressing that the current custom race functionality of picking (possibly tuned) cars from your garage is supported, rather than something new and bespoke to Sophy.
I feel like you are correct - I do not see anything new from what you can see of the custom race screen in the trailer.

It's still a "milestone" for Sophy and a good addition to the game. Curious to see the maximum number of laps you can do, if the tire wear works, etc. And who will be the first to try to break Sophy with a ridiculous tune? Everyone still have their spaceship VW buses?

EDIT: I just saw this on the trailer from the Sony channel. This is cool, as long as Sophy didn't study AI F. Portilla's pit strategies and tire/fuel management.

I didn't realize you can't do a custom race with a friend/s and fill the remaining grid with bots/AI.

That's a huge omission that hopefully gets rectified...

That being said, I'm very excited to try this Sophy update.
Aye.
Custom lobbies, mixed with friends and ai/Sophy is exactly what is needed....

The current way if thing makes no sense other than to force people (that want to play with friends) into online lobby races as there's no alternative.
Which imo does not work eithrr as theres too much friction / not convenient enough...
