I really hope Sophy 2.1 doesn't have some weird form of rubberbanding agenda.
yeah, rubberbanding is built into the game by design, they actually want the game to be played that way. I really hope they are not going this route with Sophy. But PD works in strange ways and I wouldn't really be surprised if they decided to sabotage the AI and baffle us all to oblivion in the proccess with yet one more asinine design choice.

they should keep the option for people who want to win all races effortlessly to still be able to create events with no Sophy.

I don't want to get my hopes up, but as somebody who spends the bulk of my time in the game in Custom Races, I'm excited to find out what we're going to get under the 'New Race Settings now supported' banner splashed toward the end of the video. I'd love to be able to configure allowed/required tire compounds and mandatory pit stops to match settings that we get in GTWS races. Also looking forward to trying out Sophy in Custom Races.

Exactly. I want Terminator SOPHY option for the custom races. Doesn’t make sense when I’m using a GT3 car for multi-class and I’m catching the Hybrid class at La Sarthe.

I did a similar race with Testarossa and Evo 6 last week on Tokyo Expressway, with the rest of the grid being regular cars all detuned as much as possible to keep them slow. And the way Testarossa AI driver was slamming the brakes behind almost every single slow car almost ruined the whole thing. I wonder if Sophy will do a better job with that.
This is what I do except I don't detune cars I just use stock "pedestrian" "Mom" type cars(Trust in PD), have a about 4 more cars similar cars and I set it to an insane number of laps and just do it until I get tired. I turn on fuel consumption too so I have to stop for gas occasionally. I have noticed the CPU does get caught in traffic pretty easily and some cars just give up once you get a certain distance away from them.

The dream would be multiclass option but i don’t think it will happen

But there are still a lot of questions.
Will there be rain, will it be night, will there be different difficulty modes, will we be able to remove that damned rubber banding?

Will races be limited to 20 cars, etc.?
But on paper it's already the best update of the year. (and last year) if sophy really does the race from start to finish.

Surely the ability to use tyre wear and fuel consumption settings will mean we can run longer races?

Sophy in custom races, with custom tuned cars no less, is really exciting! I've got a bunch of custom grids that I've been working on for months that I'm excited to be able to finally try out with an AI that can actually take advantage of my tunes. Will still have to wait and see how it's actually implemented, but it's a promising step in the right direction.

I'm also excited for the Kangoo, oddly enough. I can't wait to see the available tuning options and the custom liveries that'll be made in the coming days/weeks. And maybe a Day 1 engine swap (c'mon BRZ Drift LS7 🫰)?
It will be interesting to see if Sophy is better using my tuned cars than I am

One step closer to a Sophy driver AI training like trophy.ai. Or so, I'd like to dream.

Sophy in Custom Races is very much unexpected but very welcome. I only hope she doesn't drive slow as it has been doing it in quick races after you pass her. I never understood why she lifts up once you go past.
Apparently you can deactivate the "boost" with sophy, idon't know if it will have any influence.

But it doesn't work for the basic AI... but we'll quickly test it tomorrow.

The boost option has been there for a while for custom races, but afaik it doesn't actually seem to do anything about AI rubberbanding?
Boost Off makes the AI slow down a ton if they're too far ahead. Boost Weak makes them faster if they're behind you, and lessens the slowing if they are ahead but they still have rubberbanding, particularly if you drop behind by 10 seconds, or if the race is nearly over.

There's no way to have them at their natural pace unfortunately. Although Boost Weak helped I found when they were chasing, made things closer because they aren't super fast otherwise.

Wait, so boost off increases the rubberbanding then? What should be the setting to fully disable it
