Colin Bond in the Holden Dealer Team’s ‘new’ LC Holden Torana GTR XU1 V8. This car was run as a sports car and was basically the prototype test car for the never to be released XU2. It ran 4 seconds a lap quicker than Bond's production 202ci 6 cylinder engined XU1 around Mount Panorama the weekend of this picture.

A very young (16) John Bowe in his Elfin 500 F Vee #132 during his 1971, debut racing year in which he won the Tasmanian FV Championship. He went on to become an eight times Champion in four different categories. They included Gold Star Australian Championship for open wheelers (twice), Australian Sports Cars Championship (once), V8 Supercars (once) and Touring Car Masters (four times). He also won the Bathurst 1000 twice (teamed up with Dick Johnson).
