There's plenty of glaring omissions in the game. The C5 'Vette, the DC5 Integra, the FTO just to name a few. Anyone could keep going on until it drove them completely insane - but really, what's the point?

No amount of requesting or wishlisting is actually going to affect PD's production in any way, otherwise every update since launch would've been an assortment of modern supercars and GT3s instead of stuff like the Hiace and Alphard. I think at some point, you've just gotta learn to go with the flow.

I think nowadays we are no longer in the era where you hold on to the new cars and tracks that you create for the next title, and you save it all for your release. I don’t think we work that way any more. Now it is sort of like being on Spotify or the iTunes Store; I think it is more natural to have new additional cars and tracks added to the store as they are ready to go.

They are no doubt holding back content.
You dont want to release a new game in future without new cars. And they are cabable of delivering an average of 60 cars a year. We dont get anything near that in updates.its around 33-36 car per year. 2024 had even less cars added campared to 2023.
2025 might even be less than that.

I really hate to be dismissive, but I don't think the contents of that subforum have been relevant since 2014.

You could argue that a lot of the cars at the top of the list have arrived in the game since then, but those decisions were likely still made in the 2014-2017 period, where PD at least seemed to make the slightest effort to reach out to the community, with stuff like the Pit Stop blog and that Kaz Q&A that got shut down because he ended up not answering a single question. :lol:

I feel like ever since Sport's launch and especially after GT7, PD have essentially gone back to being a black hole of information where absolutely nothing comes in or gets out. I know of several GTWS finalists that have personally laid out their wishes and requests for the game to PD employees, time and time again, to no avail. They're basically free agents that work on whatever they want at this point.
 
Throwing my hat into a ring I don't really want to be part of, I think all this wish-listing and moaning about omissions is putting the cart before the horse.

So many vehicles have attained cult status within the GT community over the years precisely BECAUSE they were in the previous games, before crowd-sourcing "ideas" was a thing. This attitude of "why boring/weird car in my game?" just limits any kind of unique experience or unexpected surprise from our beloved franchise.

I do agree that PD have been leaning a bit too heavily into nostalgia with the last two entries, but I also think that getting your nose bent out of shape because a handful of many, many thousands of different cars over history aren't there, is just stupid.

And with good reason. More than 10% of the additional cars that have arrived in GT7 are on page one...

A lot have been there... a while, but they don't get up there in the first place if people don't vote on them.

If I had a quid for every time someone's posted a dumb wishlist or "where's my x/y/z?" car that they really care about for some reason and yet not bothered to suggest it or vote for it, I could have bought Twitter.

You may not doubt it. I do.

The rate of addition of new cars is not significantly different from the rate they were created for GT7's launch after GT Sport's content updates dried up.

And again we have this "60 cars a year" quote without any comprehension of it. That's the maximum number their pipeline can deliver in modelling. That's just modelling. No licence means no cars to model, limiting what they can output: if there's not 60 cars a year entering the pipeline there won't be 60 exiting it.

If visibility is the problem, there's no need to look any further than the replies of every single tweet from the official GT account or Kaz's personal account.

99% of the time, someone will be requesting one of three things - modern supercars like the Ferrari 296, modern GT3 cars, or a Le Mans hypercar. These replies get hundreds of likes every time, as harsh as they often are. But hardly any of these cars get added - because PD aren't interested.

Either that, or they're all being saved for a dramatic GT8 reveal, but why get everyone mad about your current game before revealing your next one? Seems like poor marketing to me!

That's not the same logic at all. Responses of "where's my [car I really care about]" to a content Tweet are not an appropriate place.

The subforums are an appropriate, and organised, place - that they originally asked us to set up...

I don't actually know how anyone can even doubt it, given how obvious it is that of course they would and how many times I've confirmed it.

Why should be always super cars or GT3 cars?? There are literally a dozen of racing games/sims with that content, if GT has been different ll these years us because of variety and let people play/drive/race with regular cars and affordable sport vehicles🤷‍♂️

It's more nuanced than that. The core issue that causes the constant GT3 request problem is there's very little synergy between the singleplayer and the multiplayer in this game.

Pretty much every DLC car, with the sole exception of the ID.R*, is usable and useful in some way in GT7's singleplayer because the events are designed to be available to many cars, especially post-Spec II with weeklies giving reason to replay early-game events. But, because the multiplayer races are much more focused on the core racing groups (and because PD don't do open tuning races), 90% of the cars will get one single-make race A at most. So if you're someone playing the game primarily for Sport Mode, a lot of the car content doesn't really affect you in any way.

I'm not someone who thinks PD need to be on the bleeding edge adding all the new GT3s as soon as they come out. But for the category that has a race on 50 weeks of the year, the current roster absolutely could use a refresh, and I don't think I could blame Sport Mode mains for thinking their game mode isn't getting the attention it needs.

*high PP electric race cars that aren't VGTs are unviable in this game until they get a dedicated event, as they can't enter road car events and all the higher tier race car events have fuel rates that kill the battery.

I've seen it in person, I've seen it in the site traffic, I've had the conversations in person, on the phone, and by email, some literally have accounts here, they asked us to set up the Suggestions and Kaz Q&A forum (which... 😬)...

It's not "vibes" or theory or supposition. PD and SIE employees read this site. Not likely just this site either - it'd be just as insane for them not to read anywhere that the community assembles as it would be not to read this one - but I can't speak as to others.

If anything though it just makes the fact that they hardly seem to listen even more egregious. Sure Kaz is mostly fixated on keeping GT his passion project first and foremost, and the work PD does most likely revolves around all of that, but if they're actually reading every complaint and suggestion, many of which can quite easily be addressed, and still doing nothing to fix those issues, then... I don't really know where the series goes from here.

The game is stuck between trying to appeal to the long-time GT fans and the e-sports crowd they brought in with Sport, and in the end neither are actually pleased. Nobody is happy with the singleplayer's chase-the-rabbit format except the most casual of casuals, Sport mode has only gotten worse with the incredibly repetitive combos and removal of DR in Race A, and even the lobby features have progressively been stripped back with every new installment since GT5. I feel like PD will eventually have to pick a side and stick by it.

Hate to be that guy, but i honestly can't take anything that Kaz/PD say seriously anymore, and by reading a lot of comments here i'm glad i'm not crazy lol. His interviews are summable with "talk so much without saying anything" , and his older interviews (mostly during the PS3 era) where he threw in a lot of promises which he failed to keep definetly didn't help either.... I think it's time for him to enjoy retirement, he gave the racing genre so much in the past but i fail to recognize the good old Kaz/PD nowadays.
 
No, we'll just have to accept what PD provides for us. That's the bottom line.

@piengoo Yes, I've watched a lot of Kaz's interviews too and half of the time he does what he says he's going to do for Gran Turismo. The question is if Kaz did retire in the future, who would be bright enough to take his place? Someone would have to have a ton of knowledge and familiar with PD and it's staff.

This would of course be the most important thing, but if they were to be someone outside PD, i'd say the biggest value would be actually willing to be more transparent and actually hearing the community (which i don't think anyone in there wants to) , plus understanding why people still love the old GT games and keep going back at them (again, something that i'm not sure they understand).

Sometimes i feel like they slowly started to straight up despise their own community, but maybe that's too much overthinking of me. 😃

If GT has anything it's variety. Putting a M5 in there would't bring more variety - putting in a tractor would.

Variety in terms of we have nineteen real life four door road car sedans in the game. Two real life four door super sedans in the Alfa and Tesla. The M5 would indeed bring more variety to that class of cars and would give another choice for high powered cars instead of picking a sports coupe. Not to mention that many cars are AWD, turbo and or hatchbacks. Having a naturally aspirated, two-wheel drive, four door sedan with a sporting nature would be a relief. As much as I love the Crown, that ain’t it. Bring the M5.

You really don't need to take two looks at the community to figure out why that can very well be the case. No matter what they do, a good three quarters of people will still whine and bicker about it. In their position I would have called it quits with free updates years ago as it's pearls before swine anyway.
 
Kaz addressed that in the gtplanet interview. He said if he just keeps adding cars from past games it gets stale quickly. However, he’s been doing just that and still complaints.

Seriously, without looking at any other Gran Turismo community, looking only in the complaints in this site. If we again look at the most Liked cars in the Suggestions, it don’t look like cars many people complaining today would want in the GT7 over some other cars.
Indeed the highest Liked cars are at a time in 2014 when the next game(GT Sport) was thought to be the same ethos as all other past GT games. Not what we got in 2017.

If PD added the E46 CSL, I’m quite sure many would be up in arms about why PD didn’t add the M4 instead. Or PD finally add the Renault Espace F1 and didn’t add the latest GT3 Ferrari.
 
Something people don't seem to always take into account when complaining about the inclusion/exclusion of certain cars is that GT has to keep a lot of people happy. I'm sure a lot of players are super crazy into the E-sports side of thing and want as many race cars as possible, but this is an entry-level racing title at the end of the day.
