If I need a certain car from the used car dealership and don't know when it'll appear, how frequently do I have to check its stock in order not to miss a listing? Every five days? Every seven? I just want to make sure that I get a chance to buy every car before it goes out of stock.
Check here.

The link shows estimated days until a car is limited stock.

I've been thinking more about the idea of new groups, especially since we can clearly see that many of the current groups don't necessarily entail cars that raced in the same group. The most obvious example being the Toyota GT-One TS020 being in the same group as modern Super GT GT500/DTM racers, but funny enough, I'm actually enjoying this sort of weirdness, even if it means notable changes in power/weight to make certain cars competitive. I'm also still unbothered by the sheer variety of Gr.1, especially since I think any issues could be addressed simply by having more events that limit players to certain selections of racecars within a certain group. Just as we've seen Gr.1 events that specifically focus on the Group C racers.

Ah, but I digress. I really do think there should be new groups for other race cars, of the especially historic variety. I maintain the notion that there's really just two groups that I think would be great: a "Gr.1V" and "Gr.3V," with the V standing for "Vintage." For the former group, you'd see racers like the Porsche 917, Ford Mark IV, Jaguar XJ-13, and the Ferrari 330 P4. Whereas in the latter, you'd see the Alfa Romeo TZ2, the Shelby Daytona Coupe, the Ferrari 250 GTO, etc.
If the issue is about the PP categorization for racecars (ofc, TS020 had a bit lower PP in 831.63 to the modern GT500/DTM's 850-860 range, and the Gr. categorization is solely about the car's PP, so they both fit for Gr. 1), then should the solution be about adding more Car Type hashtags (e.g. #Midship), with more distinct difference (e.g. TS020 being #GT1 Prototype or #GT1 Group), and have the events use more Car Type regulation to restrict what kind of cars can enter?

If you meant to have events limit the car type to the intended one, then obviously solely-PP based class like the Gr division will have TS020 being put on similar category as modern GT500/DTM because their measurement is close.

Those car hashtags are definitely a good idea. Just wish that you could select them in lobby restriction settings etc in the same way you can choose Gr.1, Gr.2 etc. Would be great for those that host "road car only" lobbies, as one example. Polyphony already use them for career event restrictions, as well as choosing eligible cars individually (e.g. Silvia Sisters), or individual manufacturers (e.g. Ferrari Circuit Challenge).

At the same time, I'd still keep the Group system to go along with Tags, just because the Group system allows for more car choice when it comes to race cars, which is good for certain scenarios. Having both Groups & Tags as options would allow the player to decide which car restriction method they prefer, rather than getting rid of one system for another, as both have their benefits.
And the same for keeping Performance Points as an option, for cases where you want road cars & race cars together.

Basically, just having as many different utilities to sort cars by for lobbies as possible, most of which are already at Polyphony's disposal in career mode.

The used car dealership goes through a full rotation once every month (or so).

my theory of not updating the month of December!!
my first gt will be available throughout December to attract more players! the January update will take place on Thursday 2 at the start of the month with a big update!! like the one who came on the 2 November 2023 !!
I don't know about that big update. But maybe a new track? We got Lake Louise in november 2023, Eiger in may or june? So thats roughly 6 months between those additions. January it's been 6 months since Eiger... So perhaps a new track?

my first gt for the school holidays in Japan which begins on December 24 so an introduction the day before (Monday 23) for a duration of one week before the update on January 2 !!

PD and Hyundai announced their collaboration end of May. Six months later the announcement the Ioniq 5 N is coming to the game. That’s about on schedule for the average six months car modelling.

They have said three and I also saw for nine months. It’s regularly been six months.
The modelling is probably the relatively quick part of it now.

It will be the other stuff like in car animations, huds, camera positioning and then testing the various settings in game to match the test drivers feed back then QA then lining it up with a certain release etc.

I'd imagine that the more active game supporters are able to provide the cad and mesh files almost immediately and that car shoots are more for texture and specific geometry. That would cut down the time a hell of a lot. And PD probably have some really nice internal Modelling tools as well.

I’m not hinting. A post was saying there’s no “circuit”. :sly:
If you were meaning my posts, I have no insider information on that. I just attempt to puzzle-piece what is known, in this case that the Nations Cup Qualifying Time Trial session doesn't have any information listed (although we now know the car), and that there's a possibility that they use a new track since it's all TBA.

I think it's very unlikely for that to be the case, but I'm saying that it's not a 0% chance that a new track is used.
I do think it would be a cool idea to use Pikes Peak as a qualifying time trial, but that's just a hypothetical scenario.

But yeah, I'm just an attempted puzzle-piecer, not a data-miner or someone with credibility when it comes to knowing update content in advance.

Oh, I’m just being sly and definitely not meaning your post was confirming or hinting about Pikes Peak. I knew about the TBA from the first time it pointed out. Just had a laugh with my post about first to the top.

It's a shame that the GT community have to use the words 'very unlikely' that we are getting a new track/circuit. The game is 3 years old in March 2025 and this year we only got 1 new track... So far. A new bigger update with the addition of a new track would certainly be welcome at this point. And endurance races. And lots of new events... :)

I also say that in order to not get the wider community overhyped or overinvested about something, as doing so sets up the potential for unneeded disappointment.
Not all of the time, but more likely than not, as is the case with speculation. Temper expectations.

We will just have to wait and see what happens. The live event is only a few days away.
