Just get a PS4 Pro. Runs GT7 better than the PS5.
My kids have ps4 pro and I have a ps5, I got a platinum of both ;)

Ps5 was faster loading times and better graphics

I am keen to understand your comment fully šŸ˜

Thereā€™s no doubt that the PS5 Pro has faster loading times and improved graphics. But, on PS5 Iā€™ve witnessed certain situations where GT7 suffers frame stuttering without experiencing the same on PS4 Pro. Itā€™s context specific and also a double-edged sword, because race replays stutter greatly on PS4 Pro with no similar issues on PS5 (as youā€™d expect).

Finally, donā€™t take my first comment too serious. It was specifically aimed at the comment complaining about PS5 stuttering around the Trial Mountain tunnels. I donā€™t get that on PS4 Pro, hence my suggestion to buy that instead :D

That said, improper display setup can also make matters worse with video game FPS if you donā€™t disable various image processing technologies.

Also evidence of GT8 coming down the pipe was the recent 1.49 update. Earlier GT's have had similar updates that foreshadow the new release...now, when it it come? I don't know, but will it come? Likely, as long as Playstations keep selling.
Uh, no? What?
Which bit of the 1.49 update do you think is evidence of GT8 "coming down the pipe"?

The physics changes in general, especially the enhanced Michelin involvement, with many of the street tires being Michelin branded. Nice addition IMHO, but I prefer Michelin in IRL šŸ˜

The ray tracing that's coming with PS5 pro is another.

Since the beginning, they have started work on the subsequent titles almost immediately after the release of the previous title. And they release some of those features early, almost like a Beta.

Remember the GT6 dailies? They were added later. They are the foundation for Sport Mode. It's the same structure. Gt6 had five daily races. Sport Mode has 3 dailies and two cup races (or however we refer to them).

That's how a franchise operates. The official announcement comes once they nail a release date, not when work begins. So, it's not really a secret.

These are just sentences dropped randomly lmao.
None of this is connected to the fact that update 1.49, according to you, is evidencing the eventual coming of GT8.

Okay so you've just made it up then. Thanks for clearing it up.

Actually, that's rather late in the cycle. Work on the next game usually starts several months - or more - in advance of the current title's release. Assuming, of course, that there is a next game planned and it's not all gone GAAS.

I see no evidence in GT7's 1.49 update of GT8 being any more imminent than it was before. Except that time works that way, in which case 1.50 - being more recent - is more significant.

We already had a major physics change in 1.31/March 2023. Why is the major physics change in 1.49/July 2024 more impactful for the scheduling for GT8?

LOL, these are only signs that GT7 is getting ongoing support.

If I'm going to spend 700USD+ on an electronic device I'd just buy a gaming computer. Talk about price gouging.

A gaming PC for 700? That is delusional. That's before you provide a link to one. Can it do 4K60?

I've been looking at gaming PC's for the past 6 months and a conservative build (4060/4070) from PCSpecialist was coming in around Ā£1500-Ā£1800. I could get a cheaper pre-build but would compromise on build quality and components.

Such a PC would do the job today but I'm not so sure in 3-4 years time. You can be sure PS5 Pro will still have well optimised versions of the latest titles a few years down the line.

That's the same old regurgitated commentary I hear with every new generation and generation "upgrade" for the last few gens. PS3, PS4, PS4 Pro, PS5 and now PS5 Pro. Honestly, it never ends, and I realized that I was being nickel and dimed by Sony long ago.

...Weird take. Okay, sure, the jump between PS4 and PS5 isn't that great (but that's because we're still mostly stuck in the cross gen period, I'd argue), but... pretty sure PS3-era visuals would look like absolute doodoo today, honestly. =/

Even Ridge Racer 7's?

I'm not talking about visuals directly; I'm talking about this fallacy that a console will be 'powerful' enough for years. If that was really true, then why do we even need a pro version? Wouldn't the base PS5 be enough?

With GT7 I saw, and still see no reason to 'upgrade' to the PS5 console to play a newer version the game that has barely any improvement over what I can experience on PS4. Ray tracing is not important. Gameplay is. And you'll get the same gameplay experience on PS4.

Unless you're playing a large library of games a 700USD 'upgrade' is not needed, and even then, PS5 Pro games will work on base PS5 as did PS4 Pro games on base PS4. This whole thing with the PS5 Pro is just Sony trying to nickel and dime consumers into supporting the aforementioned fallacy.

IMO, yes. Unless you like low-res textures and non-PBR lighting, then all the more power to you.

As for what HarVee said, I'm just going to respectfully disagree with all of that and leave it. Honestly, I'm a self-admitted graphics nut, so... you probably shouldn't listen to me anyway. -shrug-

what i wanted mainly from the Pro is the higher resolution with higher framerate especially in 120hz with full HDR - i dont care about ray tracing that much

sure you can buy PC for that money but it wont be as powerful plus you have to rebuy all your games digitally now

also i like how some people are taking the PS5 Pro like its PS6 while its just a Pro console of PS5

In 3-4 years the PS6 will be gearing to go, because the Pro will be outdated. It happens to all hardware. My 3080 was a beast on release, not so much anymore though. Can it play all the new games still? Yes, but not like a 4090 can obv.

Would you need a tv that displayed 120hz to take advantage of this,or would the higher framerate still work on a 4k HD tv? Probably a stupid question for those in the know but im def not in that bracket.

ye you need TV that supports it , i got LG C2 42inch but proper smooth 4K60 is good enough for most cases just if you see the 120hz smoothness you cant go back :D

its a shame PS5 cant force 120hz on all games even if the game is 60fps only you still get less latency

Just read the article. Pretty impressive as these improvements are without PSSR.

I heard a few grumbles about the price, so here's some launch prices (USD) and their inflation adjusted price.

Console / Launch Price / Inflation adjusted Price

Atari 2600 / $199.00 / $1033.74
Sega Saturn / $399 / $824.17
PS 1 / $299 / $617.61
PS 2 / $299 / $564.60
PS 3 / $599 / $935.33
PS 4 / $399 / $539.17

PS 5 Pro $699

Given the inflation adjusted price of the others on the list, the PS5 Pro price doesn't seem crazy to me.

Lmao. Leaves out the one relevant comparison. PS4 Pro: $399 @ launch. Sony have lost their minds with the ps5 pro. It will fall well short of its predecessor in terms of sales. By the time Sony launched the ps4 pro they also lowered the price of the ps4 slim to $299. I donā€™t foresee current Sony cutting the base PS5 price in the same way.

I feel like the only person who has their PS5 flat and hasnā€™t bought a disc (of any kind in fact) for over 10 yearsā€¦

But I still wouldnā€™t pay Ā£700 for the Pro
