I laugh my ass off to anyone who was desperately supporting the C-HR, it cant even achieve 180hp fully modified, and even with Racing Soft tyres it cant even hit 550pp.

And no, you shouldn't expect an engine swap, because still nearly 3 years after GT7's debut, not a single engine swap has been available for a Hybrid vehicle yet, such as the Prius or Aqua ect.
Which are also cars which suffer from a lack of engine modification. There seems to be a theme here...

So well done chaps, now we all know you have a semi for the C-HR 😆 well done, at least you're honest.

Now tell me, was that all worth 9+ months of modelling/resources time? Over any other car they could've modelled instead?

I have to say that the F3500-A is an absolute winner when it comes to new additions for GT7. It looks great, sounds great and drives great. The customisation options enhance the fun factor, because it provides some variety when you want a custom or multiplayer race. I think PD missed a trick by not giving the F1500T-A customisation options, so I'm really happy that the F3500 has some. I hope we get a 90s Formula GT special event soon. Or, better still, the return of the Formula Gran Turismo.

Anywhoo, the other cars in this update absolutely slap, the new early 90's style F1 with customization being the icing on the cake, and asbolute contrast of implementation quality compared to the C-HR thing.

The update is more pleasing than I first thought.
But not because of the new cars. More on that later.

After the update, it's finally fun to drive rear-wheel drive cars again (with controller). No unexpected breakout of the rear at the corner entrance, in the middle of the corner or at the corner exit. And if the rear does breakout, you can catch it again. Not like before, where the car rocks up. The right step in terms of fun.
I also think it's great that the Gordini can finally get a new engine. Since it's a racing car, it can only take part in the World Touring Car Cup. With the original engine, it was too weak for 700PP. 600PP was difficult. But now that's possible too.

On the cars.
I was really looking forward to the F3500 and it drives really well, but I can't make any money with it because there are no races for this car.

The C-HR S (does the S stand for slow???) is a joke. It sounds terrible, even when fully tuned it doesn't move forward and you can't make any money with it either because it's too weak. The only positive thing about the car is that when it's tuned it generates more power than it consumes. So the battery is constantly charged even at full throttle.

The IONIQ surprised me. It does drive like a concrete block with wheels without reducing the weight, but once it's lighter it drives quite well. BUT: What the hell was PD thinking when they approved the car for so few races??? The only way to make money is the Touring Car World Cup 600PP. However, that's no longer possible once you've fully tuned the car. After that it can only be used for the Touring Car World Cup 700PP and for this class it's too heavy at 1.6t and goes around corners too slowly. So after tuning there is no longer any possibility of making decent money with the car.

So the only really usable car is the Honda Civic from the 80s.

Four cars, of which only one is really usable in the offline game. Absolutely great.

It's amazing isn't it, I can actually enjoy an update and point-out its crap aspects too! If you have a problem with that, then you DO you I guess.

Odd development choices on the side, GT7 is very decent, and I've thuroughly enjoyed it these 3 years especially in the last year or so with it's superior physics updates.

And also, it's all free! Another too many dont understand.

Personally GT4/GT3 are still king for me IMO, but GT7 is still really good considering what else is out there today. Building-up pooboxes has never been so awesome. Especially as all the DLC is free, which is a godsend these days.

How many current events are available to the Ionic? I struggled to find one due to country/region limitations. Maybe needs an "Asia" category rather than just Japanese vehicles.
In the one event I did find (a low pp Sunday cup) it's quick and handles reasonably well for its size.
Shame the update had the C-HR rather than say i30N. Maybe we can look forward to that coming one day.

Absolutely. Not only is it a new type of vehicle in the game, but it has also been quite entertaining to see your rant about a 180 bhp car being boring to drive after admitting that you put racing soft tyres on it.

I imagine the Asia-Oceania championship would be a breeze with it?

But yeah it's a bummer the Hyundais can't be used for more events. Of course, the regional events in themselves are a very clunky system - but I think that point's been hammered in enough times already.

Not so much complaining, just pointing-out the obvious negatives of an otherwise lovely update.

It would be outright-complaining if I slagged-off the entire update over one car, which I'm very much not.

As I mentioned earlier, the other cars are fantastic additions, and the updating physics is a bonus.

Not the greatest update of all time, but still good.

I had a response half-written to this yesterday, then the trailer came out, so sorry this is a bit late.

But, close relationship or not, this depends on whether or not Toyota wish to remember their prior F1 exploits or not. The most extreme examples, but Mercedes will never license out the CLR and Mitsubishi will never license out the Evo VII rally car because they'd rather just forget those cars ever existed. Given the less-than-stellar results, it wouldn't shock me if Toyota consider their 2000s F1 tenure in a similar vein.

While my response is a policy opinion, the legal rights to use cars in videogames should be unlimited [free use] after 5-10 years as are many patent laws for pharmacological drugs in many countries. One variation here could be that 5 years after a car is no longer produced/sold by the car factory, it can be used freely in any movie & video game digitally.

You haven't actually pointed out anything negative about the car. You've complained about its inclusion without specifying why.

The thing that confuses me a bit about these early-game Toyotas we've been getting is how they've not been current market vehicles, which is what you'd expect from such a venture.

The C-HR isn't the current C-HR. The Hiace isn't the current Hiace. The Alphard was the current Alphard... for about four months before they replaced it mid-2023. The Himedic is current, but it's also, you know, an ambulance. Even the Prius and Aqua from launch are old.

If the main impetus for all of these really is Toyota marketing (rather than PD eccentricity/desire to flesh out Sunday Cup level events), they aren't doing a very good job of putting models people can actually buy out there.

Yeah I don’t understand PD’s thinking on this. Manufacturer’s aren’t going to help them out too much if they’re going stick with models that aren’t promoting their current car lineup….

There's also a severe lack of slow-car endurance races which means I can't use this thing's fuel mileage to win a race.

I think its worth mentioning, that a cars range does not at all equal the real world performance, so does it really have a good mileage?

What's the point about making money with one specific car ? There are plenty of money makers available. I am down for any car as long as I can have fun with it, wether I can get credits or not by using it is totally irrelevant for me.

For me, yes.

You know, sometimes life is a little weird. A few years ago I rented a car for a day, and that day turned out to be very memorable. The car I was given was a Toyota C-HR, so the car has become part of that memory for me. Thus I don't care how successful it was commercially or how many people hate it. I am happy I'll be getting it in the game, because it will forever remind me of that day.

The problem is that I have a car that was announced several weeks ago and it's almost impossible to use in offline races. At least not when it's fully tuned.So why get excited about the car?And yes, if there are new cars, I want to be able to drive them in more than just a handful of races.Otherwise, they can forget about the cars. I don't need them to look at.I want to be able to make decent money with them (not grind).

For me as long as I can have fun with a car, I am good. I don't see an issue in tuning it to enter some events (was very good a last event of pas week weeklies), and have no doubt last event of this week will be fun too (and you won't need to neuter it). I'll use it at the new TT too. And I don't care how much money I can do with it.
