I feel like the physics changes are "slept on" as some folks would say. They are actually massive in my opinion . . . but I suspect it's because of a car I drive fairly often:

Lamborghini Miura.

This car has been quite a handful in Gran Turismo 7 . . . but it wasn't as nasty a beast in previous games. I'm pretty sure I'm the main reason that car was banned from 350pp-500pp rooms back in the GT5(?) days. I tuned the hamfat out of mine but could also whip a number of drivers in a stock room.

In Gran Turismo 7 this car has been quite the challenge to deal with. That is, until now.

This car was always twitchy. I would take The Ex Girlfriend (tm) around Kyoto (Yamagiwa + Miyabi) in about 1:49 if I was doing very well on SH tires. But it was a constant struggle. Now? The car is still very much alive but I can actually attack using the thing. Times are normally around 1:45 or less and that's with a ton of mistakes. Sure, I can get out of shape in a hurry if I'm not paying attention; that's true of many cars. But the Miura was one of the biggest challenges in this game.

Now, I actually enjoy driving the thing stock. I can talk to a friend on the phone (headset) and hustle around the Nordschlife. I would never do that before because I'd be on the edge the entire time.

Physics related, I've also noticed my two fully modded tuned cars that I use pretty darn often - Pantera w/ a Coyote and 512BB - are both around the 590pp range (590.20? and 589.38?). Thankfully I just had to make a small adjustment with how I drive them around tracks like Spa and Sainte Croix C.


This change is huge on the edges. I don't think folks recognize this.

I think I've sort've given up on trying to specifically convey through text/dialogue what I think I'm feeling with physics changes. There's just too much nuance and everyone has their own opinions and cars they like and input method etc.

In summary, I fired it up with the controller as I usually do, sat back and chilled on the couch while doing some of the weekly races and then a little dabbling in one of my recent tinkering cars. It felt better.

Then I decided to swap my sim rig flight setup back to the steering wheel as I don't think I'll be playing Flight Sim in the near future. Might as well try GT7 with it as I haven't used the wheel with it in many months.

It initially felt harder to drive that same car (996 911 GT3 race car replica setup) on the wheel, but after adjusting myself to it after a lap or two, it felt better than controller. Sounds obvious but I mean it in the sense that the car felt like it was behaving the way I was trying to make suspension/LSD changes to get it to behave. The same setup felt much more neutral on the steering wheel than it did with the controller. Only weird potential issue was the on/off aggressive BZZZZZZZ effect of the force feedback when the front tires started to understeer. I don't recall it being that aggressive and I guess Jordan mentions it in the video so I'm not that crazy.

And that's the extent of my feedback. I just feels better overall 🤷‍♂️ All that being said, I still ran like the same lap time as I did with controller. It just felt faster, more exciting and fun on the wheel. I also forgot to test if certain cars still have the stupid issue of the steering getting jammed up unless ride height is high.

The first one was the '58 Corvette with a basic street tune (sports suspension & brakes, sports air filter, custom ECU, semi racing exhaust & clutch, CS tires). Awful, just awful. A mix of understeer and snap oversteer and lots of sliding, no fun at all. Sure, the C1 never was the most easy car to drive but I don't think it ever felt as bad before.

Then I took the Honda RA272 (completely stock) around the track and it was amazing! Before the update this was always an "ok" car for me, but today it felt much better then before. I can't point the finger at what exactly makes the difference, it just feels better and more fun to drive. Suspension? Tires? Probably both. Not sure about the brakes though. They still lock up pretty quick. But maybe a bit less then before.

Have you considered trying the 'Vette stock around a place like Grand Valley Highway? Or . . . well, anywhere? Stock being key.

Just a thought . . .
