better than nothing update - eh
It was the designer themselves 😁 They thought it was in already because it was the right month, though they didn't know the update cadence and that it was a bit early in the month...Just as @Famine related elsewhere, if I recall correctly, he heard about a car coming from someone on the press side and a presumed time it would be added. In the end, the car was added, but it wasn't when the person thought.
I don't know what part of the country you are from but where I from this is a mom car:Some of the cars in the game are not great. “Mom” cars are probably not in the jargon of your country. Slang for station wagons, hatchbacks, SUVs. Mom’s frequently use them for running for groceries and carting their kids around in with baby seats. The number of “mom” cars to updated race cars have been a bit lopsided in the eyes of many. We have three weekly races. They are always GR4 and GR3 cars. It would be nice if the cars were of the last couple years since we have to choose from them so frequently.
There is nothing wrong with the mom cars, however, 2 years in people are itching for some of the newer race cars. We got the fake F1 car from the 90s. It’s nice but still fake. Maybe a licensing problem? I doubt it given there are actual F1 replicas in the game.
Additionally, I think people are also wanting purpose built famous tracks. For the life of me, I cannot understand why Silverstone isn’t in the game since it was a feature of blockbuster Gran Turismo movie. There were also other tracks featured in the movie that aren’t in the game and the last track, after the cinema release, was the imagined Eiger track instead of a real life rendition.
I think if you just got into the game then all the fuss is baseless. If you are a day one consumer and love the franchise its getting stale and frustrating to the point that a pay for DLC would be preferable to free updates of everyday “mom” cars.
(Mods: I don’t know how to do the multi quotes)
I hope the guys do another vid on this update like before and talk about all this. It'd be very interesting to hear the statistics lolSlightly stuck out and about at the mo, so no article yet...
... but just to note, this thread has ~25% more replies in the same time frame than the 1.55 thread, and the FB post has I think more replies than anything since Spec II.
🤷♂️

... and it didn't come until the following month!
I sympathise with their complaints. I imagine they wouldn't have a problem with it if Sport Mode actually gave them FWD tintop races, but Sport Mode pedals constant gr.3/gr.4 usage without adding anything to the field at all.If the E-sports guys can't see the appeal in close racing generated by the 205 GTI on the Nordschleife or Spa, perhaps they're not as motorsports minded as they think they are.
FWD tintop racing is almost always excellent.
They can see the appeal, but they can also see that GT's flagship esports competition uses Gr3 cars only. The regular Sport races use Gr3 or Gr4 cars the vast majority of the time, especially for races with DR changes enabled. The chances to actually use road cars in a competitive environment are low outside of the Nations Cup (which also has a Gr3 round coming on Saturday), so you can understand why they might prefer updates to the machinery they have to use, or at least a new track. If the E-sports guys can't see the appeal in close racing generated by the 205 GTI on the Nordschleife or Spa, perhaps they're not as motorsports minded as they think they are.

If you try to hustle it around Willow Springs, it'll be off-road in no time. It'll be bouncing like a beachball.I understand the Unimog ist driving at Willow Springs in the video, but is there an offroad track variant at Willow Springs?
I think its also reasonable of them to be frustrated over the extremely outdated lineup of Gr3 machinery as the game only has 4(!) cars in the category that are still racing IRL whilst the rest haven't competitively touched a race track in nearly a decade or moreThey can see the appeal, but they can also see that GT's flagship esports competition uses Gr3 cars only. The World Series players are starting to let their frustrations known, yikes.
The entire series has its roots in a game that has up to 160 cars, depending on the way of counting them, of which a whopping 16 are actual race cars. Gran Turismo has always been a road car game more than anything else, with the main emphasis in building the car to your own liking and then going racing with it. More than race cars we'd need deeper customization to turn the road cars into full fledged racers with steering wheels, seats, interior deletions etc. to really pursue the spirit of the original, the current GT Auto is a very good start but could be further improved in that regard.I am not against road cars, that after all is the basis of the series, but every update should include a race car as it is a racing game.
And only one I believe, the AMG which was an added car at some point, is from this decade.I think its also reasonable of them to be frustrated over the extremely outdated lineup of Gr3 machinery as the game only has 4(!) cars in the category that are still racing IRL whilst the rest haven't competitively touched a race track in nearly a decade or more
The only ones added from this decade are the BRZ GT300 and the AMGAnd only one I believe, the AMG which was an added car at some point, is from this decade.
Roger. But yea, the McLaren, Ferrari, Mustang, BMW, Corvette, Lambo, Porsche etc. are woefully out of date even within the game. There are probably more, just shooting from the hip here. The only ones added from this decade are the BRZ GT300 and the AMG
That's pretty much it while the GT-R is a dying fossil and the RCF is on its way out for that new Lexus GT3![]()
oh sorry, I must be confusing two different people. I confess I haven't been following this whole long discussion very closely. Thought what people were referencing was the reddit guy. I still think the UNimog was what would have been referred to as "something people might talk about a lot" though...What dev was teasing a thing days away on a forum? The track dev on Reddit? It didn't look like he was teasing anything or implying anything was coming in the next update.
Just as @Famine related elsewhere, if I recall correctly, he heard about a car coming from someone on the press side and a presumed time it would be added. In the end, the car was added, but it wasn't when the person thought. This situation could be as simple as that. To be clear here, this was not in relation to this patch. Just some other patch at some point in GTs history.
I dunno why people think this is all so complicated. Jordan may have heard something about B-Spec or something coming, we don't know exactly what, and maybe a month, two, or farther back, it sounded like it was coming around the Feb update.. and then it didn't because that's development and things change
Exactly this! It’s all well and good for people to say GT is not ACC but if you’re going to make the online and the esports aspect of the game pretty much gr3 or gr4 then it’s pretty reasonable to ask for more recent carsI sympathise with their complaints. I imagine they wouldn't have a problem with it if Sport Mode actually gave them FWD tintop races, but Sport Mode pedals constant gr.3/gr.4 usage without adding anything to the field at all.
With BOP and splittercam, it's almost immaterial what you're driving in Gr.3. I get wanting the new and shiny, and if you're Brand X fan you want the car, but I don't reckon a 296 GT3, or 488 GT3, would be that different in any material way.I think its also reasonable of them to be frustrated over the extremely outdated lineup of Gr3 machinery as the game only has 4(!) cars in the category that are still racing IRL whilst the rest haven't competitively touched a race track in nearly a decade or more
Those 25% of extra replies must be “but Jordan said”.... but just to note, this thread has ~25% more replies in the same time frame than the 1.55 thread, and the FB post has I think more replies than anything since Spec II.
The biggest mistake I made was buying ps5 pro and hoping gt7 would look better but damn...Hope for some bugfixes and probably an updated PSSR version to clean up the image on the ps5 pro a bit more.
