Yes, it’s all a matter of opinion, isn’t it? You guys love mom cars. Awesome. They have their place in the game. Have a blast with them. I will still voice my opinion in the face of the juvenile comments expressing opposing opinion.

No one is required to agree or even read my opinion. Yet, we press on.
I want this mom car. And the associated Motorsports version to go with it. Makes more sense than a Unimog.

Also the fact that they keep bringing back cars we've seen in previous GT games that are more or less kinda just there instead of bringing in new (as in unique) models for their respective brands is kind of absurd and very uninteresting. Imagine a BMW Z1 instead, or even a new model M5 or whatever. Instead we kinda just get something that I personally think is more of a time period piece of older Gran Turismo games than anything that could be actually relevant. I could be wrong though, feel free to dissect my post piece by piece as is tradition here.
I love when they bring back cars that were in older GT games. It’s like reliving memories of playing PS3, PS2 and PS1 and just those times in general, but with GT7 it all looks, sounds and feels so much better. It’s not like those cars have become less fun to drive with age. On the contrary these older cars remind me how I didn’t appreciate some of them enough when they were new.

You mention “anything that could be actually relevant”. You mean relevant like something current? Who said that racing games must reflect the current times? That would really narrow down the breadth of the experiences offered by the game.

I'm so happy with the Z4 - this is literally my favorite spec for this car. Pre-facelift 3.0i with the style 107 wheels. Just a fantastic piece of design, nose to tail, inside and out. Also a huge fan of the 205 GTi - I can't wait to rip that thing around. The Unimog is great too.

My biggest gripe is that two of these cars don't really have a proper location in which to drive them. The 205 begs for either a tight & twisting mountain road or a tight urban circuit. Neither of these exist in GT7 - the closest we have are the more sweeping & high speed Tokyo Highway and Eiger circuits. The Unimog is not a rally car - it's not even close to that, so the off road courses we do have aren't really a good fit. I love that PD includes these oddball cars, but its disappointing there aren't proper environments for them. The Z4 is at home on quite a few tracks - namely Deep Forest & Grand Valley.

edit: Citta de Aria, Costa di Amalfi, George V Paris, and/or Hong Kong from GT4 or Rome from GT2 or GT5 would all be great for the 205.

There it is!

Relevant as in, yes, current, but also something that is unique to the series but has never featured. I did mention about including a Z1 which is not a current model, but, in my opinion, would be relevant to players since it is not only a new unique model but also a rather interesting piece of BMW car history.

I mentioned the time piece because the Z4 of that model was represented as BMW's current line up along with the 120d and 120i in Gran Turismo 4. I just don't see it as something very interesting nowadays, especially when we don't have the current Z4 to go along with it so that at least we could have some modern representation of how BMW is like today.

The Peugeot is a great addition because we've never really had a car like that in Gran Turismo yet. Something popular from the older games like an older Supra racecar would be great since it's an icon of the series, now re-done in 4K. An '03 Z4? Maybe I am not the target for this, but I just can't find the appeal of it personally, especially when these models take so long to make nowadays.

He's not wrong.
Here is the statement in question:

"If you are a day one consumer and love the franchise its getting stale and frustrating to the point that a pay for DLC would be preferable to free updates of everyday “mom” cars."

For this statement to be wrong, we just need to find one person who is a day one consumer and who loves the franchise and who disagrees with any of the following:

1. The game is getting stale and frustrating.
2. It would be preferable to pay for DLC than to have free updates.
3. The cars we've been getting in the updates can accurately be described as "mom cars".

You know well that there's no consensus about any of the above, so the logical conclusion is that the statement is wrong.

Which means that you are wrong as well.

You know, its interesting how people keep complaining that GT isn't keeping up with the other games and such with its content, yet its continued existence and sales numbers (which interestingly from my search have never painted a picture of a series that's "dying" irrespective of what the complaints say) suggests to me that maybe the being "Up to Date" isn't required actually. Sure its a big enough name that it can basically do whatever it wants and hardly have a dent made in it but also, it really speaks against the supposed idea that "Only the newest" is the only way to go about when despite having pack after pack of the newest, Forza on the other hand appears to still struggle.

Just an intriguing observation that I think is worth looking into and maybe even re-evaluating what does work because by all the metrics of the complaints, GT should be failing to even get or retain good player counts...but it doesn't...

I then searched for "Milf car" also but I'm afraid I can't post the result here😄
I think that's an entirely different category altogether

As someone who's played since GT1, I disagree with that statement entirely (Especially in a era where frankly there is far too damn much nickel and diming and not enough quality to justify it). Dude has done nothing but made generalizations far dustier then he is, which isn't shocking at this point because he reeks of OG Gatekeeper.

Well, you posted something on a forum intended for discussion. Relax.

I don’t think the Z1 is more relevant than the Z4 because it has not been in GT before. You may think it’s more interesting because it would be a novelty in Gran Turismo. That doesn’t necessarily make it an objectively better choice though. Also, remember that not every GT player has been playing the game since forever. By the way, we kind of do have the modern Z4 in the A90 Supra.

But people said the same things when they added the 2009 Audi TTS last year. “Why not an RS saloon or estate and so on...” I think the reason is that PD understands that compact sports cars often feel more connected on the track.

So there we have it, the silhouette pic uncovered. Mistaking a Unimog for a Midget was indeed an experience, probably the best trolling in the history of silhouette posts.

Interesting image. Is this the first time Kaz has "uncover" the silhouettes?
I would love to have in Scapes something similar to this room. Imagine the possibilities

This is I believe the third time he's shown the silhouettes uncovered.

Here’s hoping with the recent multiple color choices for cars in the LCD and UCD, the Unimog gets the same treatment. It appears to come in a host of colors. Probably as many as classic Chevrolet and Chrysler products. I needs that green(supposedly Mosgrün).

Wasn’t thinking of getting that Z4, but 3-series and Z4 BMWs in the 2000s sat on their suspensions perfectly. Even the entry level models looked like touring cars.

The 205 isn’t my favourite hot hatch only because of its rear. I’ve always felt like it was too low. Similar to the Toyota FX-16. Even the Mk1 Golf, Civic E-AT and EF have hatches that I felt exposed or made the rear vulnerable in an accident. The Mk2 Golf had a more safe and secure rear hatch design.
Anyway, I’m going to enjoy building the 205 in BTCC Independents spec. So nice to finally have one in the franchise. Keep the FF cars coming, Kaz. Just need to add some three box FF sedans. I’m dying over here. ;)

It was a fun dig at how I see posts structured here a lot; plus I didn't appreciate how my idea of relevancy was taken since I never explicitly said that only recent vehicles could be relevant (to the point where I mentioned an older model). Perhaps my choices aren't relevant to everyone else and I understand that, but I am not saying to take older cars out of the equation all together.

I think the Unimog will come in handy in Le Mans traffic lobbies. Using a couple Megane Safety/GENDAMERE cars, a HiMedic and Peugeot 205 GTI mixed in with other cars would be a cool thing to do.

I think its also reasonable of them to be frustrated over the extremely outdated lineup of Gr3 machinery as the game only has 4(!) cars in the category that are still racing IRL whilst the rest haven't competitively touched a race track in nearly a decade or more

It's a game, it's not as if they're racing real cars and losing pace because time has marched on.

If they want to make a success out of a game that predominantly was a single player experience and not go for one of the dedicated sims that suits their interest, then they can suck it up. There's more of us casuals than them and we're still waiting for GT7 to be a classic GT entry and not some halfway house waiting on proper career content.

Day 1 customer here. It's getting stale. I would definitely pay for updates if PD actually made it worth it. Mom cars is subjective, but the CH-R isn't far off.
