Nissan MOTUL PITWORK vs. …. The better Nissans…

This is my first attempt at writing a report so please offer me constructive criticism where needed-- ill take the criticism and use it to improve my final copy:) Hope you enjoy it

After reading Old Geezers race report using a JGTC car I felt I could go one step better and try and win the GT All Stars Championship in an almost stock JGTC car.

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=65809

I knew that the Nissan MP was a car I could use to good effect and I ran a race with a stock Nissan mp in which the results were surprisingly good although I felt it was due to it being my favourite course and I wouldn’t be good enough to maintain this on other courses.
My Nissan MP was totally stock with 478hp with three small exceptions I bought NOS for the Nissan, hard racing tyres and medium tyres. Although this made it “easier” it was still going to be a very difficult championship.

The opposition I drew for this round included:
Nissan R390 GT1 Race Car 1998
Nissan R89C Race Car 1989
Pagani Zonda LM Race Car 2001
Chevrolet Camaro LM Race Car 2001
Nissan GT-R Concept LM Race Car 2002

These figures: Finish = Place / Race Time - Fast Lap. MOV = Margin of Victory (Where applicable!)

PLEASE NOTE I NEVER QUALIFY SO EVERY RACE I START FROM 6TH—(makes it more fun:) )

Race #1 High Speed Ring (200 points)
Finish/1st ………..-1’04.478
Mov- 0.357 seconds

Started the race from the back of the grid and quickly gained all five places in the first corner by diving up the inside and a tad of NOS
For the next three laps although I was been constantly hassled by the R89C I kept ahead of *him* with some clever blocking and smooth lines that gave me a small advantage in the corners but my haven was to end on the 4th lap when I am passed for the first time by the R89C I quickly re pass him and there are a few chances for the R89C to pass me but he ceases to until lap 7 in which he overtakes me into the first corner which forces me to use most of my NOS to regain my 1st position. The race turned into a amazing scrap for the lead in which My Nissan MP is constantly losing and winning back first place but I had the lead at the finish by a narrow 0.357 seconds
Medium Tyres were fine

Race #2 Fuji Speedway '80s (200 points)
Finish/2nd ……..- 1:12.447
MO “LOSS”-20.556 seconds

I try to repeat my heroics of my first race but narrowly miss the R89C which I frantically try to keep with by using nearly all of my NOS but even this fails and the R89C quickly got away and was 5.8 seconds ahead by the first sector on the second lap. With me losing sight of the lead that easily I was caught out by the pace of the R390 catching me and within 3 laps my reasonable lead was slashed and on lap 5 the R390 tried to pass on the outside on the main straight but I quickly shut the door and the R390 has a taste of grass although he loses no time. I then held off the impending R390 in lap 6 and 7 and come 2nd by a cars length and the race was so close that the R390 passed me on the cool down lap (tad to late..) while the R89C cruised to a easy 20 second lead

Race #3 Laguna Seca Raceway (200 points) (lost the replay so data is limited)
Finish/2nd ………-……….
MO “LOSS”- 30 seconds+

The car was very un-competitive as I cant even get close to the R89C I run a boring race running in 2nd for the whole race and learn a lesson that even on the more technical circuits I am still no match for the R89

Championship standings after 3 rounds:
1st Nissan R89C- 26 points
2nd Nissan MP- 22 points
3rd Nissan R390- 12 points
4th Pagani Zonda- 9 points
5th Nissan skyline concept – 6 points
6th Camaro LM race car- 3 points

Race #4 Autumn Ring (200 points)
Finish/1st ………-1:10.080
MOV-2.151

After seeing my results getting worse by the race and realising it wouldn’t be any easier in the technical circuits. I realised to have a good chance I would have to make good starts that allowed me to challenge for 1st place.

Naturally I started from the back of the grid and within the first three corners I had disposed of my usual four cars and set in pursuit of my main rival the R89C as it struggles on cold tyres I reclaim the 3.5 seconds I lost at the start and pass him into the first corner on the second lap and I try to put a gap between me and the R89C as I can see that I am much faster at this stage of the race and build a 3.156 lead by the start of the 3rd lap.

In the 4th lap for the first time the R89C starts to catch me but its too early for his tyres and he makes a mistake on the final hairpin as he takes a very strange line losing 2 seconds in the process and leaving my Nissan MP to enjoy a “huge” 4.6 second gap but just as I am enjoying this rare lead I make several mistakes in the 5th lap and the gap closes to a not so huge gap of 0.9 seconds.

I quickly re gained my former composure and held the gap for two laps but by this time my tyres are battered and I get over taken into the first corner but as expected I quickly get my position back, but not for long… as the lack of grip is severely affecting me I choose to drive over the curbs in the esses and am overtaken again. As we come into the hairpin I attempt a pass and totally caught out by the strange line that the R89C takes and tap him in the back of the car and this results In him being in the gravel ( I don’t like hitting cars off the track- the R89C just took a really weird line) this though opened up a 3.360 lead for me and I pussy-foot around the final lap to win by 2.1seconds

Race #5 Test Course (200 points)
Finish/3rd …….-1:59.777 (1:42.998 for the R89C)

This was always gonna be hard so I didn’t know what to aim for in this race that is 95% about power with me lacking by at least a 120hp on all my competitors and a huge 445hp difference between the R89C.

Starting from the back I make my usual good start by using my NOS and slipstream from the R390 I get to 3rd by the start of the first corner and get to 221mph!! I try to pass the R390 but it is just too fast (224mph on the straights) while I maintain a steady 193mph which puts me straight into the clutches of the Pagani Zonda and I frantically blocked him and coming into the 2nd lap I am already 13 seconds behind the lead and spend more time using the L1 button to constantly block the Zonda getting past which ceases to even have a taste of 3rd place as I block its progress. At the start of the 3rd lap I am a huge 32 seconds behind the leader and just to mix things up the Camaro catches me and the Zonda up leaving me to block two cars in the final stages which results in me coming third by half a cars length over the Zonda and practically keeping my chances of the championship alive although a small one.

Very good so far! Very detailed and good to read.

Hopefully you won the championship, but it's known for the races to get harder the further you go through it...

Edit: Just saw you did win it. Good racing! 👍

For a first report, nice going. Easy to read, 👍 too bad you lost but take that as a learning point. ;)

Have a read through Smallhorses reports and Johnnya1306 and perhaps even mine. They may give you some ideas.

AMG.
