Hey all :)

Well recently I got myself a capture card, originally intended to transfer family VHS videos to DVD format. Although, I have found out it can also be used to record games console Gameplay, which intrigues me to say the least.

I'm an avid GT fan. Heck, all you reading this probably are too. On YouTube, I'd love to have a channel were I can go to, and have like minded automotive enthusiasts to collaborate with, and watch different Gran Turismo players' content. For example, if they were to display a certain car's tuning specifications, show a race between competing cars, or just do a round up of the week's GTplanet news. That'd be great in my opinion :D

The closest thing we have to this on YouTube is the collaborative channel, "Machinima" which rarely even posts GT content, and I do mean RARELY :/ it's content is, no joke, 90% Call of Duty, and the rest is just new game releases mostly. And when they do post GT gameplay, it has some British Hoodlum commentating over it, who knows next to nothing about cars. It's just bad.

Anyhoo, my proposal is that we start a new, collaborative Gran Turismo channel. I have the resources to support it, and could certainly produce, I think, some good GT content :D GT3, GT5, GT4, heck even GT1, I could do gameplay of all these. And as I mentioned before, It wouldn't just be race gameplay, it would be guides, tips, events in GTplanet, Car tuning videos etc. It's a very niche subscriber base we'd be going after, and with no real competition, we'd easily win a good subscriber base among GT fans, and at the same time even bring some new fans on to the GT bandwagon :D

What do you think? :) As I say I could get the channel started, with gameplay and channel foundation etc. And some of you guys could do gameplay too, make it a community channel, you know? :)

It's an exciting prospect to me, and could even help boost GTplanet's popularity :P

What do you think? Would you support / watch a GT dedicated channel on YouTube?

Nice idea, what res is your card? Well if you need any help PM me, I can use PS to a novice scale and just started on Vegas.

It's called a "Dazzle capture card" I believe, one of the better ones available.

It can shoot in SD, but through my editing software I can upscale this to 1080p if I wish, check out some sample gameplay videos I uploaded on this channel:

I've got some GT4 gameplay too, might upload it to see how good an actual race would look like :P 👍

Sound good, I have a Haupagge HDPVR so I can record in upto 1080i. I've been meaning to make more videos for my channel so I'm cool with uploading to a GT colab channel.

SD will always be SD, upscaling will not improve it that much if anything. Hauppauge HDPVR are great, used to have one a few months back but sold it.

kk, well I've created a new Youtube account, here's the link to it:

I have all the details for the actual channel and it's associated email account (Passwords, etc) saved in a notebook document, so if you want to take part in this channel, uploading videos etc, then simply highlight your interest here and I'll be more than happy to send you all the details via the GT planet PM service. Thanks.

Btw, I realise that my actual video, when recorded with the dazzle capture card and rendered afterwards in HD, won't actually be HD as such, but it still turns out pretty well imo :P Take a look at these 2 videos I made for an idea of how good the quality is :)

What do you guys think?

i would love to chime in on this. I want to start something like a news segment or a hidden features/tips & tricks. PM me the info?

Somebody could also create a segment covering some of the more popular race leagues that we host here on GTPlanet.
Like BK's LMP championship, the FIA races, Flyin Miata. etc.

This is a great idea, perhaps if PD don't make one then you should set a channel up. You could extend gogatrs idea and have major series replays sent to you and posted onto youtube via your channel which will mean more publicity for their series. They could upload on their channel too and it could be put in a playlist folder on yours.

I could do weekly car reviews if you want. The thing is every time I try and capture 1/6 of the top is shown at the bottom. I don't know how to fix it either.

I am interested in doing some vids for the collaborative channel. like I said I have and HDPVR so I can record in HD and I have some good editing software including Adobe after effects and Sony Vegas version 9 and 10.

Your videos are not as crisp in quality as some others i have seen but i can see your concept working out quite nicely. There are some talented YouTube users who post GT5 videos, if you can get in contact with them this channel will boom. One YouTube user you need to contact will be TommiKIN (i believe he is a Korean GT5 player, but am not sure) His videos are amazingly crisp and beautiful.

OK, I just had an idea.
If I were to create a weekly GTPlanet/GT5 News thread, would it be possible for us to somehow work together with this?
For example, I put in an online racing section and you could upload replays highlighting various parts of the race.
Things like that...

wow, thanks for all the interest! :D

Again, here's the link for the channel itself:

I've made some visual changes to the channel page itself, tell me what you think! :P

As for all the people who have signaled their interest here, I will PM you all the info for the channel and it's respective E-mail address.

And as for GTplanet's youtube channel, I don't know. In my opinion, this channel has the potential to trump it (no offence intended, I'm a huge fan of GTplanet :D) I think the fact that this will be a community channel, with lots of different GT fans uploading content, it will certainly be able to hold it's own if we play our cards right.

As always, anyone who's interested, signal your interest here, or PM me, and I'll be happy to send you the information on the channel ;)

Thanks guys! :D

It's all fun and games until someone loses an account.

Youtube are the worst butthurt site ever created and they remove videos daily to save their sorry butts.

Would it be okay if I just used a Video camera to directly record the screen? I don't own a capture card.

OK, I have a digital camera with a video recording option.
It comes with an HDMI cable that you can plug into the TV and see what you're recording or have recorded on the TV.
Is there a way to reverse this process?
