Awesome scoop as always, Amar! Definitely gonna be keeping close tabs on this story.
BTW, that Eiger Nordwand track seems kinda similar in look and concept to Grindelwald in GT2, doesn't it?

Buying cars online? :dunce:

Thats pretty shi_tty, I want to pay for a whole game and thats it. I dont want to buy only to have the GT engine. Well, maybe its better to drop this GT until GT5 comes close.
PD follows the new trend, ''pay much for much less content '':yuck: .

Well, lets wait and see.

yes i want to pay for the whole game. the point of downloadable cars is for the future. if the game releases in 2008, then the point for download is to get newer models, not some stupid sh$% HOLDING BACK CONTENT thats seems to be the trend with next gen consoles.

that´s absolutelu BS, i hope the regular game comes with a good content right out of the box. that´s like what EA did with madden. they had classic teams in PS1 and PS2. now you have to buy classic teams. i hope that´s not the case with the next GT.

holding back content is a stupid attempt to rip off people. because with fractionated price, people get the fake idea that they´re able to choose the content. i just don´t swallow that. i´m angry right now but i hope TGS can calm me down...

grrrr...

Nice add-on info Arwin, thank you very much 👍 Have some bad thoughts about all that but then again - it is cruel capitalism world out there.

I guess now we just have to wait and see for next 24 hours or so.

BTW I have just added a full transcript from the forums on www.beyond3d.com where One (thank you One) has covred Kaz's Famitsu inteview in details. To be honest - it is going to be one hell of the "GTHDokemon" game that GTHD. Gotta have them all? Hell, gotta have the 637$ for all 750 cars and another 213$ for all 50 courses. Now add few specials (mentioned above) and few extras - and guess what - I've just spend 1000$ for GTHD.

Feeling money-raped? I definately do. I just hope all this Pokemon-bullShT is something connected to soomeone's bad knowledge of japanese.

if it is really true that you would have to pay almost 1000 dollars to get the same content that you have in GT4, then, although i´m a die hard GT fan, i hope they get burned hard by piracy and stuff.

what´s next, we actually have to pay for the gas and tires as they are used? brilliant!!!:yuck:

Yep im quite mad at the moment! :grumpy: As if next gen games dont cost alot as it is...... they are basically making you now buy stuff that would have been in the game as extra..... I can just see the developers in their plush office now saying..... "yeah we'll leave that, that, that and that out... and make the poor b--tards pay for the rest..... and we will still make the game around £50!"

arggggggggggggggggggggggggggg..........:yuck:

I think im gonna hold out for proper GT5..... unless it to comes with one car and one track...... and BUY the rest! Talk about Blue Ray and its huge storage on one disk, all this will be usless seeing as most of the game content you will have to download..... the game will take up less space than a DVD!

Im with you. We know exactly how hard is to buy certain things around here.

1000 DOLLARS... an used car costs 1000 dollars. a brand new motorcycle costs 1000 dollars.

Gran Turismo HD: Classic is what adopts the GT:HD playable demo at E3 and meant to showcase the online aspect. A race is done with about 20 cars. Apparently this version starts with no cars or courses. You download a car for 50 - 100 yen (0.43 - 0.85$) and a course for 200 - 500 yen (1.71 - 4.26$). Over 750 cars and 50 tracks are available for purchase. Users can define race events freely and can hold online race events by themselves.
I sincerely hope not, I will certainly be skipping this game if that is true. Unless it comes free with the PS3 then I'll just enjoy the standard GT premium mode for what it's worth. But I won't be spending penny on this game if that's how it will be.

Look, this is all preliminary leaked stuff. If the empty game info is bogus, then everyone is going to feel silly for blowing gaskets for nothing.

If it's true? Well, then Sony will see a lot of Online purchase servers collecting dust. They'll learn their lesson and won't do it again. But honestly, Sony isn't a stupid company. They know that customers will only tolerate so much extra pricing for anything. Microsoft is slow to learn this, but remember, they're a monopoly. ;)

Being concerned is not being silly, I don't think anyone has said "this game IS rubbish" or "I WONT be buying this game becasue IT'S charging us for everything", it's all if's. Like I I said, I will not be buying the game if that news is true, if the news doesn't prove to be true I certainly won't feel silly for saying thet I don't think anyone else would, or should for that matter.

As for Sony's business policy, they like to rip people off as much as the next business does, they arn't glorious people who are sitting on our shoulders like angels trying to help us all become millionairs.

This is definantly going to be hard on the younger generation (like me 16yr) $1000 dollars for everything in GT4.5 and on top of that the PS3! I would have to get myself a job...or if worst comes to worst..resort to crime haha jokes...PD see what your doing! Driving us youngens to petty stealing! :nervous: :grumpy:...or i could always beg my parents...💡

Yeah, but at the same time, after buying that PS3, you could download the Nurburgring and 2 nice cars for just over 5$ and then have hours of fun online :D

Let's just wait how it pans out, shall we? TGS starts in about 26 hours, and we'll know more soon enough.

Yep I think it's best to wait and see, I would have thought GT Classic would be GT4:embarrassed:nline at first, and then have additional downlaodable content at extra cost. That wouldn't be so bad. Annoying but not so bad.

I honestly think its BS to charge people for cars that should already be in the game. Now after the realease, they make some new cars and charge for download, sure, but only giving you a handful and expecting you to shell out for courses and cars is rediculous. Greedy Greedy people if you ask me.

I hope the game is free if I have to pay for cars, tracks and the like.

m.piedgros

Greed plays a role but whoever developed the game went overboard. I think they wanted to put in as much technology to stick it to the people at Microsoft and their Forza Motorsport series. Which, if the buying cars and tracks is true, I will be purchasing over GT HD.

I'm just happy to be getting some info!! Weather changes, crazy realistic graphics (obviously), and finally some online play. Truthfully, I would rather by the GT Premium, even tho there are not as many cars.....but there is still online play, and it has more new features and better graphics than GT Classic.....but i guess that brings up the debate of whether you want content over features, or vice versa. Either way, I'm glad they'll *HOPEFULLY* be bringing us some stuff to hold us over until 2008, or 2015 if release trends continue.

By the way, i know we'll find out more at TGS, but is any of this coming to the US?

You know, this has to be be a translating error, it must mean that the game starts with no cars like GT4 and you buy cars in game, AND have the ability to download cars.
it would seem to be a little silly to spend all this time and money to develop BlueRay and then have the game download to a hard drive. Just a thought. Hopfully we'll find out tomorrow. But somehow I think we'll have more questions than answers by the end of the TGS, Its just how PD works...

I never like the idea of buying cars over the net, but for preventing people copying Granturismo, each copy should have a serial number thats included, mostly for online based, like many other pc games that require it to play online. More like starforce protection. Seriously, what were they thinking, pay to buy new cars? thats gonna give bad reputation, why not new updates, to improve gameplay, as well as including new cars, so everyone gets the same thing, makes more sense to me, that is.

Whether its true or not, I'm fed up of games companies selling half games and charging for the other halves later. Having to buy individual cars that should be in the game in the first place is stupid and would massively fragment online play I'd think. Its bad enough with free content let alone having to pay. A bonus pack of cars for a cheap price released later might be ok, but even so, this stuff used to be free :grumpy:.

Look at Half-Life 1 that had loads of free content and I don't think Valve will be going bust any time soon (A pity with their stupid episodes system, HL2 was only half a game in my opinion and as a consquence sucked).

I can tell you one thing though, GT5 would have to be pretty damn special to win me over.

I'm very amazed at the advancement of the GT5 engine over GT4's. However, graphics don't make a game, so I'll still keep an eye on this.

Honestly, it has to be a translation flub. How could it possibly work as an online game if you have to buy every car you want?

People will choose many of the same cars, like supercars, race cars, favorite sports cars and the like. But many of them will be drastically different. Some will choose a load of Japanese sports cars. Others will choose American muscle or European cars. How could this possibly work online? Almost every single garage would be different. Almost no one would have the entire car list. It would be utter chaos.

Fans will riot. Many will refuse to buy any content at all. It would be a huge financial disaster.

I know that some bring up Half Life 2 and its ridiculously short episodes sold for $20, good for all of 10-15 hours of play. Rather than rant about it - which maybe I should do at a Valve board - I just ignore it and wait for a compilation pack or something. Which, if Sony pulls this kind of stunt, I'll do with all of you guys.

One thing that did occur to me which would be quite sneaky but not too expensive would be to base the content of GTHD on whether or not you have GT4. Like if you have the game, you put in the DVD and it populates the car list from the game. It would require people to buy the Greatest Hits version if they don't have GT4 already, but that's all of $20 new. Then GTHD could be sold for $20-30 itself. But this is just idle speculation of course.

Fortunately it seems everyone has calmed down from the initial explosion from the leak. It's just over 24 hours till the big show, so hopefully we'll get a big heads up on what the truth is. But I can't see Sony going that way with any game. Just imagine Metal Gear Solid 4 sold as a shell with nothing in it but impressive empty cities and jungles to surf cam in, without a Snake to be seen anywhere in the world.

I know that Sony the megacorporation is a stinker, and I do indeed despize them along with Microsoft and EA, but Sony the game division seems to be learning from Sega and Nintendo that you have to be gamer friendly, so I frankly don't believe all this. I could easily be wrong, and if I am, I'll just go back to GT4 and Forza.

That's actually EXACTLY how an online game works. You're not supposed to have the same items in battles. You're supposed to see how well you can do with what you got, not something exactly like your opponent.

Play any MMO. People battle with different things all the time. Though these items come with the game, still, not everyone gets them. Look at TDU. 10,000 folks get 2 cars no one else can have.

Paying for your cars also adds diversity. This way, not everyone has Hondas in an equal, and boring race. Buying different cars, say the R8 and Speed 8 can show who is a better driver with the car. It adds a LOT of realism to the game as well. Not every racing team in the world has access to race a R8 in another R8. So, they make due with a Panoz LMP, and presto, they equal the competition.

I'm not exactly putting this the way I want, but I hope you can see what I'm getting at.

Well, I understand what you're saying McLaren. And I'm forgetting that the PS3 really is a gaming computer, which has the capability to cache a huge amount of temporary info.

I was thinking that without the cars in your own game, how would it work if you had an online race with 15 different garages, none of them with the same cars. But that would work if the PS3s all loaded temporary cars to the server just for the race. Games usually have to have the same content to run, but with broadband, maybe that's no longer an issue, even with custom painted unique cars.

PSHHH!!! Maybe PD is reading that thread! :nervous:

However, if I have to put more than 1000$/€ for the content they made I'll skip that ''money raping experiment''.
Damn, I thought the next ''GT'' (even if its a demo) will be a masterpiece with new graphics and new tracks and now.....PD screwed the whole thing up!
What a stupid idea, collecting cars and tracks.

I thought GT is a racing game which doesn't follow the current trends, ...I was wrong.

They dont get even a single $ / € from me if thats true.:grumpy:

Yes, I am angry right now.

+ Not all cars and courses are available on the release date, they are added monthly. Some models may be a limited release for 1000 units. New playing modes and tuning parts may be available via download. It's still undecided if they allow trade among users in fear of real money trade.

Isnt that great?:yuck:

Um, yes it is. It adds diversity and rarity.

No, it just adds more money for the developers.

If you ask me, I dont care about diversity and rarity, I just want a game where I can win, tune and buy cars I want without wasting REAL money

What do I have from a car nobody owns except me? Nothing. Rarity is senseless.

I just want a updatet oldschool-like GT with new/more cars, better graphics and tons of content and some nice features.:guilty:

The NissanR89c is also rare cause of mission 34, and I dont had to pay for it.

It worked extremely well with the past 4 GT's, never touch a running system. And thats not a touch thats a punch right in the face.

Can you spell GREED?
