Gran Turismo Sport Spec II Arrives October 4

I got GTS via digital in May, and had to download it on a 3mb internet connection...... Haha it only took 8 days of non stop "Rest Mode" until it was done, 88GB!

So for poor mortals like myself on a slowish connection, would it make much difference with a "B Spec" version?

Here's the Spec II box art.

This really highlights how short the game was upon its release. Imagine just buying the game and waiting for those 70-80gb full of updates before you play. Hopefully they built a proper database for the next game because in average this one is disappointing.

Well, for a long time I've thought of GTS as more of an internal digital asset building project for GT7 that PD decided to publish, rather than a complete game in its own right. Much like I believe Assetto Corsa Competizione is really a Kunos Simulazioni internal project allowing them to "kick the tyres" of the Unreal Engine, which they then decided to monetise along the way.

I think anyone expecting Spec II to add ANYTHING to the game need to drastically lower their expectations. This is just a re-release with some cars that are already in the game unlocked and extra credits.

I also don't see PD releasing an update this week, and then another update a week later.

All that said a new opening movie would be cool :) (not that I'm expecting that!)

I wonder if Spec II will be on two discs then, GTS updated to 1.39 is well over 50GB.
It is on two discs.
This is from the website.....
Content Information: Includes 'Gran Turismo Sport' version 1.39 (Play Disc + Data Disc). The latest version can be played by updating the game via internet connection.

I imagine that the play disc will be the base 1.00 game (original disc) and the data disc will have the updates to 1.39.

When we get to 150gb of game data then we will have spec III on a triple-disc release.

Dang, I was hyped up for a second there, thinking they were going to drop a huge update like they did for GT5. :/

I was legit excited and shocked... until i saw the details.
Goddammit PD.... :(
Already was rubbing my hands together on a new spec II version download with a new cars a bunch load of news tracks... only to discover the true meaning of spec II... dammmn....

I was honestly hoping they would have at least released the Taycan.

So what is this, just a re-publishing of the game with all the updates included, right?

Yep. And some bonus cars/cash - and probably a different boxart for the disc version.

Most likely the game you've already got installed will simply read the disc as its license and boot up without any changes.

If you don't already have the game installed - such as on a second PS4 - it'll install at 1.39, so you only have a couple of major updates to download. That'll be a bit of a timesaver.

I can't be the only one that dropped my coffee when I read the title and then added to the mess with my flowing tears of disappointment when I read the details. Can I?

Oh GT... you crazy emotional roller-coaster.

Hopelesly optimistic fanboy as I am, I wish they give us update wothy of the spec 2 name around the time of release. 1.50 or 2.0 with some waited features (ehem Spa... chelin tire model..).

The disc max capacity is 100 GB while the game is now on 108 GB.

2 discs are inevitable.

I will definitely pick this up for the collection.

Wonder if this will boost sales...I was stunned to see that Sport isnt even a top 10 selling PS exclusive in the US at retail this generation.

You shouldn't be surprised. The game reviewed poorly, lost out on a ton of new players, and was written off by many faithful fans...all because of the lack of content. I had purchased every GT game during it's launch week, until GTS. And I only purchased it late last year because I saw the price had dropped below $20, otherwise I still wouldn't have touched it. Sony and PD failed GTS, both the launch and at publicizing how much the game has expanded since.

Hi guys, this is my first post here but I’ve been lurking for a few days now.

I don’t own GTS yet but am excited to get it. Was going to buy it this weekend actually, but I may wait until next week now.

This collection seems to be better than the current deluxe digital edition to me, though we don’t know pricing yet.

Just curious, how good are all of these ten cars? It seems like it’s the top 10 of all G3 cars, but do we need 10 G3 cars, or just a few of them? Sorry, I’m not sure how the grouping and car selections for racing works yet.

Also, how likely is it to get a fair portion of these cars by doing the driving school, circuit experiences, and daily challenges?

If they’re fairly easy to get (or cheap to buy with credits), I’d rather just buy the base edition and earn them myself tbh.

Thanks in advance.

In the US maybe, but GTS is the #6 all time best seller for PS4 my dude
Where'd you get that data from? Sony hasn't given numbers for GTS in quite a bit, and #6 overall is straight up impossible (unless you're only counting exclusives)

The cars and the bonus should skip you some grinding, but the driving school, circuit experiences and daily challenges give you a lot of cars if you do them. I'd still get this version though.

Some essential cars you would end up buying anyway. It´ll take you a while to get them by grinding, but it´s easily doable.

Given that the game has only ever had free DLC I can only really see the new version appealing to those who want a more up to date game on disc to avoid huge downloads or those who want some extra cars and credits. It's a clever move though as it will likely mean a whole new marketing campaign and promotion on the PS Store, bringing the game back in to the public eye.

In practice it's really not hard to get the Gr.3 cars, especially if you play through the driving school, missions etc. You'll win some, and you'll have earned enough to buy many of the others... you're also relatively likely to get given them on the daily workout wheel.

Thanks guys!

For reference, I do plan on doing driving school and the circuit experiences, as well as time trials and racing the AI for a fair bit before I go into a Sport Mode, so I will be playing a lot anyway (just not necessarily doing specific things just to grind credits).

I hope some outlets take the opportunity to re-review the game.

You should decide now if you are bothered about getting the super expensive classic cars. You don't really need them, but if you want them, it's best not to waste credits buying anything less than 1,000,000 early on in the game.

That makes a lot of sense! I’ll think about that. Thanks.
