Almost tempts me to buy a PS4...hope they work on improving the AI for the next game. :(
You and me both. As much as the AI frustrates me in GTS I am not surprised it is lacklusture. The game after all was not meant to have a Campaign, which was ridiculous, so PD used the previous version, which unfortunately was also hugely outdated.

I think I have faith in them to completely rewrite the AI for GT Next...

nooooooo I loved the old intro!!!!! it was soo elegant
You can still access it in game if you want. See [MY LIBRARY] > [VIDEOS].

I always watched the ~old~ intro play itself out because I like it and doing helped the game to load saves and whatnot. Great moments, cars, tracks and drivers, it was awesome and I'll miss it.

This new one is so weird, a lot of slow panning cameras in order to build up a tension and action that simply aren't there: as someone said earlier, there isn't excitement in watching some guy sitting on a chair. It just renders the whole thing a bit silly to be honest. And I simply don't care about a random bunch of dudes with gloves and Puma racing shoes put on to play a videogame(!).

They should let us who bought the game before Spec II alone.

One more thing about the Gr.2 not in the intro. This new intro releases and this weekend(today really), history will be made with DTM & SuperGT on track together at Hockenheim.

Missed opportunity.

I'll really miss that original opening with that Franz Liszt arrangement playing over historical motorsport footage, but the new cinematic is soooo good with all the post-launch content shown throughout.

Is that a new rain/wet track or condition setting at 3:06? I couldn't get a good look at the background details, but it certainly looked like mid-day with clear skies, and as far as I can tell we don't have any of those at RBR or Tokyo yet. It looks like it may be Tokyo as there's some Japanese writing on the side of the track, but the sky doesn't look nearly that clear in any available setting I recall us having access to. I'm also curious about the background in the clip at 2:04, but I don’t think there’s enough detail to figure out where it is.

The whole idea of changing an intro doesn’t sit right with me, especially when the change is bound to divide opinion as much as it will when scrapping historic racing footage in favor of e-sports drama.

The ideal middle ground would have been to keep the old historic footage combined with the new in-game footage. THEN after that they could have the e-sport footage. Everyone happy - but no, someone felt the need to alienate a good portion of the community. 👎

After the update installed, and I watched the new intro, and the main menu loaded, I immediately went to the Gran Turismo tab in Brand Central to watch the GT6 intro again, and it still gave me chills, especially the last part when Ray Hikari sings 'Just break away, from who I was' while the various engines are roaring, and then it suddenly cuts off when Senna climbs in the cockpit and drives away.

The video itself of Sport's new intro is decent, but to not have a new Daiki Kasho song in the background? That's blueballing to a certain degree. Any other racing game intro would've been fine with a generic orchestral track, but this is Gran Turismo. Sport or not, it has its own universe, that which real cars are inhabiting and not just passing through. PD were really resting on their laurels with this intro.

All of you talking about this next update being the end, I hope and feel you’re wrong. Between the Porsche announced for the end of 2020 and FIA running another season through the end of 2020, I’d be shocked if we still didn’t get a few more new tracks next year along with a number of wet tracks and cars. I think PD is enjoying using the FIA events to showcase new tracks and continuing to hype players with their updates. I also think if they stop with updates, there will be a drop off in interest in both playing the game and the events.

Absolutely agreed. Honestly I have no idea where this defeatist attitude has suddenly come from.

But that reaction shot could be from any of a few different events. ;)

Seriously though, you must get a buzz out of that after playing the games for so many years.

Haha, true but I can tell you it's Paris and I think from memory it's the Rallying :P!

Honestly, when I started getting tagged this morning I couldn't believe it, I couldn't even watch it at lunch as I had a meeting so it was a quick eat and go! It is amazing to be honest, really am honoured! Played it most of my life, I still remember my first race, on a TV where the screen rolled so I had to follow the image to the top of the screen then back down, was Grand Valley East as well. But ye, it really is an honour to basically be in the intro movie of a franchise that's been apart of my life over 20 years :D!

Something like your post?

They dont cancel each other out. His post being 'useless' doesnt make the new intro any more 'useful'. Any intro, even the legendary GT4 intro is really 'useless' in the concept of the game.

I suppose people think that the effort into the intro is better served in a million other ways which is fair I guess if you're making people download 1gb plus for... an intro?

The process of downloading was very easy for me. ;)

Well, this game was made to chase the eSports crowd in the first place after all, so... I think it makes more sense going all in on it, honestly. *shrug*

Speaking of going all in on the eSports thing... other than doing the third ending theme, I think Daiki might be purposefully avoiding doing any real music for this just because it isn't a traditional GT game. I mean, why do any music for this if most serious eSports players are just going to turn it off?

In any case, it's indeed a huge disappointment that we're going to have to wait until GT7 in order to hear the new songs he did back in May.

Just watched the new intro. I feel it's way better then the old one. What even was that nonsence about racing is for everyone? Yes thank you ...obviously. This new one captures the Vibes from the live events and also shows way more variaty in the car line up.

Nothing will beat GT1/GT3/GT2 though haha

Looks like we better make a poll to decide does the new intro likable or not. Reading the damn long comments makes my head hurts. Sorry if I saying this but I guess it is much easier to give conclusion with poll instead. And I also not in the mood today so that is probably why...

I think the term "e-sport" is coded language for 'lack of content'...

"We're focussing on e-sport" means we're trying to normalise giving you less content for the same money as the title you paid for last gen.

Yikes.

I mean sure let’s just blow off the work PD did to create a new game engine from ground up essentially for the current gen, while also ensuring every car in game has Full cockpits barring the Vision GTs that don’t because the manufacturers didn’t design one for them.

And that’s with the belief costs stay flat when technology envelopes get pursued further and further.

If anything games today are slightly cheaper than PS3 era.

As for the new intro, I’ll just play moon over the castle in my mind. :D

Just because they make advances in some areas doesnt mean the game doesnt lack content.

I think everyone would agree that GT Sport has the best lighting engine of its genre putting aside it still doesnt have an will most likely never have dynamic weather.

Sheer whataboutism I guess.

btw. you dont 'play' game engines. That's your internal business. When I play a unity game (of which there are many) I dont thank the game engine company...
