Not a great season for me. Don't let the 1st places fool you. I was the only fool in Canada to pick Suzuki for this season. Not that the Suzuki is that terrible to drive. I just can't get it to go fast. At least I only had to drive it for three races.

If I continue my foolhardy strategy of picking from the least popular manufacturers, it looks like I'll have quite a few options for next season. Alfa Romeo, Audi, Hyundai, and Mitsubishi all had no drivers in Canada this season. Maybe I can find some better results with one of those. I have my doubts.
Can confirm that the Alfa is great to drive. Used it before I switched to Lambo and it was a joy to drive 👍

BTW were do you see how many people drove which manufacturer?

My Fanatec CSL DD started randomly disconnecting today after 15 months of zero issues. I've somehow got it back working a couple of times just for it to do it again. Not sure what's wrong, but it's not looking good. I might miss this series altogether.

*edit - seems my McLaren wheel is the issue causing the disconnects as my WRC and F1 wheels both work fine. Might race after all.

Just done an AO race (Aus & NZ slot 7) and an EMEA race (slot 1). Can confirm no rain or change in weather for GT2/3. Can also confirm need to be very careful and look out for late late brakers at T1 on the first lap (pole to P13 exiting T1 in the EMEA race. Cue pitting on lap 1 and fighting back through the field to win).

EDIT: Oh, and if anyone alongside or right behind you on the grid is in an Alfa 155 then be aware of them coming through as that thing is RAPID off the line.

Did 2 this morning

GT2 (B/S Lobby)

Race 2 qualified P1 (dr 6)

Pitted from P2 at the end of lap 1 and the undercut worked beautifully lead the race to the flag from lap 9

130pts

I think someone told me for a previous race that it’s best to pit right at the end of the first lap when pitting is required, as doing so would allow me to avoid the traffic. But won’t I still eventually have to face the other drivers even if they pit later?

You'll usually if you keep a good pace you can gain 1-2 positions.

The race typically separates out in to a few packs. In my first race I made a couple of mistakes so ended up fight 3/4 people in my second race everyone I was catching pitted typically when I caught up to them.

Started 8th after not having a very good first qualifying lap then catching up to someone slow on my second one when I was 0.2 up. The Huracan is a dog off the line apparently though so I made up some places. There was a bit of squabbling in the first few laps (don't try and overtake at the chicane kids, if you go up the inside at the right you'll be on the outside at the left and you won't keep the place unless you're completely ahead) but eventually some cars pitted and I was in 3rd with a Cypriot in Spanish police livery behind. We chased and made up time to 2nd until he pitted, then the leader pitted on lap 14 and we pitted on lap 16.

Fortunately one of the cars ahead who pitted on ~6/7 ended up miles behind, stuck in traffic and ended up nowhere. You need to be able to judge what pace you're doing vs. what you're capable of, and how much you might be losing if there are other cars around you. In a slow(er) class like Gr.4 and in what's probably a one make and at lower DR levels you're more likely to benefit from driving alone.

Ultimately a frustrating race for me with the qualifying and then some time lost in the first few laps, even if I finished well and scored what's probably my most points ever with 142. I was trading fastest laps with the leader for a bit and I was running faster than I had done in practice. It ended up being a bit of an easier race than I realised, especially since I wasn't in the Huracan.

One last thing, I've criticised the ghosting in Gran Turismo before but here's the chicane on lap 1...

I also have a confession to make. I think I'm starting to like Fuji. I think I'm starting to understand Fuji which is probably a bigger surprise.

It is genuinely one of the best tracks in the world.

That S3 is what separates drivers from triers.

I love it. That said it's a very boring/less dynamic race, arguably daily C is actually more fun at Atlanta 🤷‍♂️

Congrat! Glad to see other car then the Lambo, I only practiced with the Mitsubishi in lobby race, so the plan is to go with that and finish the race intact.

Bit late to the party on this one, but I think the idea is that you pit early and get a nice big bit of clear track to yourself, so that you can effectively hot-lap on your own while your rivals are scrapping up front and potentially costing themselves 1 to 2 seconds a lap. When they finally do pit they should then be considerably less than a pit stop in front of you so you can just cruise past.

Obviously if a load of people pit on L1 that advantage won't be there, though...

One of the cars that was doing well until they pitted in my race was a Genesis. Watching Tidgney streaming top split, a GT-R finished... top half, I think, in the last slot. I'm not totally aware of the Gr.4 BOP right now but I think there are definitely viable cars besides the Lambo at various levels.

Well well well, what a boring uneventful start to this Nations cup with a combo I was not too impressed with.

I chose to drive the Aston Vantage in this race and this was a 3pm slot today, EMEA Region at B rank class GT2 league.

Did some practice lapping and got a good 1:47-1:48 times and thought my pace was ok, then went onto qualifying and it was chaotic to say the least, bad drivers pushing ans showving jsut to get a laptime, since when was it a need to do that really??!

Managed to qualify 8th and onto the race, fanfare and video over we started off on the starting track Grid (yes), ok cool, good start and chaos ensued at Turn 1, every going ape-**** and barricade me into a wedge sandwich of huracans. This race is so bad becuase the Meta being one car and the grid is half lambos, so boring! Then pushing and bumping till lap 2 and the pack started to ease out.

I was stuck in 6th and tried to hold the position for a few laps. Swang round to lap 8-9 and was making progress on the top 5, once car has a spinenr, a lmabo, and i gobbled up 5th when a few mre guys pitted. I held out till lap 11-12 and then pitted, lost a few positons and was 11th, the aston still had ok pace on straights, but it was not to be and gained one positon to finish 10th and net only 45pts.

Overall a dull race, I really dont see the point of Gr.4 races in these cups, defo not for a first race, becuase they seems so biased unless you are a meta car. It a shame becuase I love Fuji and it a great track next to autopolis. This could have easily been a RB X2014 junior race instead and we still had a better effect in racing me thinking?

Wait for round 2 not sure what the "Specified car" is yet so fingers crossed it something decent and not miata's!!

Pretty much a non eventful race. Qualifying never went well since on my first flying lap, i ran slightly wide at the penultimate corner, which gave me a 0.5 second penalty, and that invalidated my current lap and it never made me slow down in the penalty zone until the next lap, so both my flying laps were ruined. In the end i qualified P15.

The opening lap was the only interesting part of the race, since a couple of people bumped into each other but other than that the race was non eventful since i was on my own for most of it. I pitted at the end of lap 1 to get the mandatory stop out of the way, and i gained some places from people who pitted later in the race, and i gained another couple of positions because someone binned it coming out T1 and another person never pitted so they got hit with a 2 minute penalty. So i ended up finishing in P8.

GT1 9 pm race, DR A lobby
Q5, P4
I raced the Mitsubishi Lancer, we were 2 Lancers on the race, 1 GT-R and the rests were Lambo.
I was in the top 5 the entire race, took no penalities,
Last 3 laps were intense, 5 car pack following each other.

Last curve before the finish, I was fifth, some pushing happen ahead, I take 1 position to finish 4th.

Anyway I had put Nation cup aside for a while, it was a nice and super fun come back.

Photo finish of 2nd (GT-R, dirty driver, I stayed away),3rd,4th (me on the Lancer) and 5th position.

I just pop in to say that I had a pleasant and very fair race at 17:00 CET. As a C driver I think it isn't as bad as you often read and that's why I write it down here... More guys should be motivated to give it a try.

I wasn't prepared and just jumped in as Gr. 4 at Fuji sounded good to me. My Ferrari should had gotten fresh oil but there wasn't much time left before the qualifying. The Quali didn't go well and I started at 8 what could have been 3 or 4.

As I said the race was nice and fair. A short stop without changing tyres and getting fuel at lap 5 gave me an advantage on track and I ended with a fastest lap as third. Good fun and a new hungarian friend! 👍
