What time did you race yesterday? The fact you have "US" in your username I am going to assume you're from outside of the States. Depending on the time (locally to us) odds are not a lot of people were racing as it was on a Wed and most people are working during the daytime slots.

That could be the reason for the wider DR gap between the players.
Yeah, that was one of the last (second to last?) US slots (late night here in Europe).
Tried two earlier slots, but got "Unexpected error" message during quali and out of the lobby (seemed like PSN had some hiccups).

C/S raced 3 times 7-9. 1st race first lap, first corner blew my brake marker, pulled out of the line, and tried not to take anybody out! Settled in and started to come back to 9th got rear ended, down to last, and worked my way up to 14th with 5 laps to go! 13th place kept punting me, finished last.

2nd race, started 9th, got punted, at the 1st chicane finished 13th..... Uneventful!

3rd race started 7th, a lot of them blew the 1st corner, and settled into 3rd, surpa ran wide under steering into the corner, seems like nobody was managing tires, and was able to keep my place, last lap, I'd got close to 2nd, but he was struggling to hold his line! I just settled in and brought home a 3rd place finish!

I've noticed that a lot of cars, was hurting in the later stages of the race. Seems like the 911 got better the longer the race went! I didn't expect much, from this race, as I was in the lower lobbies! I'm stoked for the finish! Hopefully I can keep this going into the next race!

I did some laps at Tokyo earlier today. It looks like pace is going to be an issue for me in the Mitsubishi again. The best I'm able to get out it is low 1:57s. 1:56s might be possible, but I'm guessing I need to be in the 1:55s to be anywhere competitive. I suppose I shouldn't be to surprised. Oh well. I can enjoy driving the track even if I'm slow there.

I think 56's low 57's will be just fine for race pace unless your in A to A+. I was managing mid to low 55's in the Porsche, but I'm in alien splits, so I have no choice but to rag the car as much possible. If you can finish your race around the 30 min mark then you should be OK for pace.

Managed to get the Corvette down to a 1:54.9 in free practice, but I'll likely be shaving off thousandths at most if I do manage to improve from here. That feels like my absolute limit.

Fingers crossed that should be very, very strong pace for the ~260-270 point range... 🫰

I hope this is okay to post here?

I wish I had gone with the 911 now 🙁

PD haven't left themselves much wriggle room if they're modifying the BoP that late.

Imagine if another Ford GT Test Car situation happens...
Assuming (dangerous I know) an update on the usual schedule that would be on Thursday 27th. The official GTWS season starts on 2nd April so they'd have a few days to sort out any major issues and deploy a fix.

But why to do another BoP change so close to the new tournament?
There isn’t time enough to try the different cars and make a satisfying choice…

By the way… what was the “Ford GT Test car situation” ?
Not at you but this is part of the irony....if they actually did the bop right it shouldn't matter just pick your fav drivetrain or brand...

But as we know...some supras/porsches are made better than others

To be fair we get to pick a Manu before every season?
Yes.

If I recall, it's like they forgot to BoP that car. All cars would enter the race under BoP conditions but the Ford GT Test didn't get BoP'ed so it had way more power than everything else.

Minor update for anyone who cares and may be looking for a comparison:

Audi: 54.8
Alfa: 55.1
Acura: 55.4

This track is tough for all the reasons you already know: lack of visual references; walls everywhere; really need good exit to make the most of the long straights; fine line between a good exit and either going too slow or understeering into the wall; yadda yadda yadda. Passing will be very difficult.

One thing I'll recommend is practicing pit entry. It seems as though the 3s pen is only activated if you go over the line that is TOWARDS the track. If you go wide on the opposite side, you don't get a pen... so better to err on the side of caution. That being said, braking at ~125m mark seems to work well.

I am looking forward to this one just because it's new to Sport Mode. Wish it was day-to-night transition (or vice versa) but can't be expecting too much from PD.

I'm also loving this combo. Street tracks require a different level of concentration. Tokyo is very unforgiving, and one minor scrape can literally destroy the rest of the lap. A penalty will most likely be race ending. Turn in points are essential here. That's before we even mention the effect custom slipstream will have on the pack. If you can find a bump draft buddy, it might be faster than going for constant overtakes here. Not many places to pass without dangerous side by side scenarios, ending in a meeting with the wall. Good luck tomorrow.!

Did some practice racing tonight to prepr for tomorrow. The barrier penalties are atrociuosly bad in this Tokyo race, did a practice run with various levels of Racers A+ to B etc. Overall, it was pretty good, so good luck to all tomorrow, dont forget to pit early and watch for mr Barry-R!!

Just tried some practice, I am going to skip this round 🙈 Not a fan of this track at all and I know deep down that it will be an utterly pointless exercise...and utter carnage too!!

Being 5 seconds off the pace at a 1:57.9 is another good reason to sit it out I think

I was looking forward to this. Now I'm anxious as hell.

Was in a practice lobby with mostly A+ and turns 2 and the pit hairpin were utter carnage. I've also just watched the start of Asia-Oceania top split and good god that custom slipstream is strong. This is going to be Russian Roulette on the first few laps, isn't it? :scared:

I did a tentative this morning in EMEA GT3.
Started 4th at T4 I was hit against the wall and I was already 11th.
In lap 3 someone thought to send me kindly in the pit lane and being already inside the box I pit.
I got 3 sec penalty for my box entry… unfortunately it wasn’t my choice.
I finished 11th and I am still thinking if to try again or just forget this useless race…

I joined a lobby last night. While I wouldn't exactly call it carnage, those first few laps were really dicey. Lots of aggressive driving, with cars diving into every slight gap. I lost a lot of time and positions just trying to stay out of trouble. I gradually gained a bunch back from drivers crashing and taking penalties, but it took until the fifth or sixth lap before I had a chance of driving the track at anything close to full speed.

I've come to accept that I'm not going to be competitive on pace here (or in any Gr.3 race these days, it seems). My plan is to stay out of trouble and accept whatever gifts come my way. With any luck, I can get in a few fun laps between the craziness.

Good luck to everybody racing today!

Some weird behaviour in my race, except from a German player in a 911 RSR with whom I had a pretty decent race; occasional touch but nothing that lag wouldn't cause and no deaths.

Qualified 9th (1:56.4; 1:55.3 was pole), finished 7th, although I was running in third before the pit stops and even though I lost a second there because I forgot to cancel the fuel I'm not quite sure how I lost those spots (maybe earlier pitters I hadn't noticed?). We did drop 8th by about 6 seconds though.

Edit: Clean Race Bonus as well, somehow.

Also the German player in the 911 RSR wasn't the following one (this time  )

Reading all that comments it looks like i've been a very lucky boy today!

In qualifying i played it safe to make shure i don't meet Barry or get a penalty. My second lap was good enough for P3 in the grid:

During the first lap everybody around me behaved very well. And that shouldn't change for the whole race!
The Supras were bloody fast on the straights, i didn't had a chance with my 911 to pass them, allthough i had an advantage in the turns.

In lap 2 the Supra behind me got me on the brakes for the hairpin.
In lap 8 the leading Farrari, the Supra in front of me and myself stopped for the tire change. I have no idea what happend to the Ferrari, but he left the pit after me.
In the following lap the french Supra pitted and we could pass him at the pit exit. It didn't took long and he passed me on the brakes for the hairpin.
Now was a Lambo behind me who slowly closed the gap. He passed me in turn 1 of lap 12. I stayed always between 2 and 2.5s behind the leader, but i didn't saw a chance to attack the guys in front of me.
But in lap 12 the Supra in P3 probably was too late on the brakes for the 1st of the 3 consecutive right handers. That gifted me P3.

From this point i simply had to take it home to a very surprising 3rd place 🥳

After my terrible driving at Suzuka i'm very pleased about making not a single big mistake this time.

Good luck to everybody for this race!

Qualified 4th. I think I could have gone faster but I'd used up the tyres on the first lap. Ended up 2nd after the docks on lap 1, in the lead by that point on lap 2. Chopped and changed a bit with the Porsche at the front but over the next few laps got shuffled down a few places after a few dives and ended up 5th. I was still in sight of the Porsche at the front but the two BMWs ahead of me were tripping over one another rather than pushing forward.

I pitted on lap 7 to try and get out of this but didn't really. Ended up behind a Paraguayan in a Peugeot VGT with a McLaren steaming up behind me. After the pitstops I was 3rd with a large gap to 4th, so I just drove the wheels off it chasing the Ferrari in front. The gap only really changed when one of us made a mistake, and even when I caught up via slipstream I was never really close enough to go for a pass.

That changed on lap 15 when he made a mistake going on to the back straight. He went defensive into the hairpin and outbraked himself by about a mile

Slightly frustrating all in - the Porsche who had been in the lead and one of the BMWs came together on the lap I was going into the pits so that took them out. I could have gone faster than I did but the nature of the Tokyo tracks leads to people tripping over each other, and even the one guy in a BMW who I thought bumped me a bunch of times was getting bumped himself, so fair enough. 163 points, given my internet problems recently I suppose I'm happy with that.
