The Audi is quite good round here, and the lack of wall penalties makes it a lot more fun since if you make a mistake you still lose speed which often loses you a place and that is surely punishment enough.

I was about to set a better qualifying lap than 13th but it cut out a second before I went over the line, just outtatime! I ended up getting 8th which was fair. I had 6th but couldn't manage the tyres as well in my shorter second stint for some reason.

8am slot.
Mucked up my 2nd lap by hitting the wall and spinning. Qualy P9.

All starts o.k. and I am on the back of the Citroen ahead. However carnage ensues ahead and a gap opens up on the inside which I take. I am briefly P5 when a GT-R taps my rear quarter upsetting the car on the ice rink that is the cargo area. The Citroen also nudges me through the chicane on the way out which tank slaps me into the barrier. This allows almost everyone to file past my ghost. Why can't people think? I am still close to another Porsche on the long straight and they somehow get a tank slap out of the kink. 1 down I think. I pass another 2 Porsches serving a penalties and so at least finish the first lap P11 after getting knocked back to 14th from 5th. Lap 2 and another Porsche serves a penalty giving me P10. I am at least on the back of the pack so have a chance of crawling back through. Lap 4 and I make a move on the BMW ahead into turn 2.

Into the pit hairpin I had to jerk left to avoid an early braking GT-R (Who tapped me lap 1). No issues just a slightly wider turn for me. An Alfa and a Lambo clashed ahead out of the final turn leaving the Lambo a bit slow. There is a gap on the outside and I go to take it only for the Lambo to nudge me into the wall. It's at this point that I decide to finally commit to a 5/10 strat to get me out of the boxing ring. I have a front row seat while the Alfa and Lambo continue their ding dong. Until I slot seamlessly into the pit. I come out P16 but just behind another Porsche. I get past them at the start of lap 7 along the start/ finish straight. However they get the slip into T2 and retake the position. I think a lag spike from them distracts me enough and the icy tarmac through the chicane claims me once again. I hold the spin but still slide into the barrier loosing a fair few seconds. This lap a fair few pit and I see 3 second penalties like Christmas lights ahead. This allows me past a NSX and into P14. I catch back up to the Porsche from before and see them make a very late decision to pit. 'Enjoy the 3 seconds' I say aloud. More pitters with penalties leave the pits including the Lambo. (If I hadn't lost the time in the spin I would have been past! :banghead:) I am now P9 and can see those ahead so have recovered well. Then up to P8 with another car pitting. I hold the position and gap for the next few laps. Then the car starts to order some understeer and I go deep in a few corners putting me at risk to those behind. And I do indeed loose places before the race is done. Add in a 0.5 second cutting penalty and the last third of the race was a disaster. I drop to P10 for the end. I get 44 points and a little below the 50 I was targetting. I felt I did have some pace and with a little luck another go could be better for me.

9am slot.
Exactly the same points on offer as the first race.
I somehow find a second out of nowhere on my best time so far and grab P5 on the grid. The top 6 is all Porsches.
I get a good start and pull a slender gap to those behind. Then just as I turn into the corner...

3 corners of the car are flashing red so I sort of crabbed my way through the chicane. 2 others had issues so I wasn't DFL, more P14. Coming out of the next left hander there was more chaos. A Porsche was facing the wrong way and others were slowed due to contact. However the tight nature of the track meant there was no obvious way through though I find my way past a couple of cars. More issues through the kink mean I hit a slow NSX shuffling me back down to P14. The game gives me 3 seconds even though I had nowhere to go and the other car survived. Ah well. I take it and loose a place. For the next few laps it is me, the other Porsche and a RS01 battling.

I pit lap 6 this time. The Porsche pits the next lap and I fail to jump it. However without the Renault also battling they lost slip so I might have a chance. They glance the barrier at the last corner and I easily pull past on the straight. Lap 8 and we both get past the Renault who pits. I put up a solid defence on the other Porsche for the next few laps and stay ahead. Lap 11 and an Alfa is spun out at the hairpin and I grab another position. Lap 13 and another yellow flag out of the right hander onto the back straight sees a Ford GT recovering. P10 is mine. At this point I notice the Ruski from before has risen to just behind our battle and also has the fastest lap. So no surprise to see them there. They seem to be hitting everyone off and the other Porsche I was racing with is now a victim. I do quickly wonder if I will be next. Thankfully they also have a 4 second penalty for their shenanigans which answers my question. No further dramas mean I once again finish P10 for 44 points. At this point it feels like destiny and I call it quits for the round.
One to add to the overflowing file of 'what could have been.'

I think I'm going to have to accept this season's likely not going to be a good one. I think I'm capable of a decent result here, but it feels like there's some luck involved and my tendency for caution does not stack up well.

On one hand, I got through in one piece in slot 1 - CRB and all. On the other, the aggression on display was crazy. The Corvette's straight line speed definitely helped, but only after everything had started to spread out.

I thought my free practice time meant I was in with a good shot, but either it wasn't as strong as I had hoped or I got a lobby of Tokyo Expressway specialists. I set a 1:55.353 in qualifying and still ended up just over a second off pole in P9.

Turn 2 went much cleaner than I had anticipated, but I lost a position from a green Porsche aggressively throwing himself up the inside at the right hander leading onto the tunnel straight. Barely registered that one coming in VR.

I then lost out heavily because of the Porsche at the hairpin. I moved off the racing line to brake in clean air, only for the Porsche to stray significantly right whilst braking, forcing me to do the same. I ended up taking the hairpin as tight as you can possibly go and dropped back to P13 for it.

Lap 2 was scary. I had been closely following another Corvette and a Lamborghini who were 2-wide through the docks. The Corvette hit the left wall on the exit chicane, bounced off, hit the Lamborghini into the right and then started going sideways. I had to lift to avoid ramming the Corvette, but got hit from the side by the bouncing Lamborghini which pinballed him into the wall again. I was expecting to get a heavy penalty for simply existing, but it seems the game correctly recognised I was not to blame.

The green Porsche had all but vanished from my view after screwing me on lap 1. I caught back up and passed him on the run down to docks on lap 3 as he'd caused some chaos at turn 1 and picked up damage for it.

I got alongside the other Corvette at the docks and we took the sequence 2-wide. I had the inside on the right hander onto the back straight... and then the green Porsche tries to repeat the move he did to me on lap 1 and pushes the other Corvette into the wall.

He almost took me out on lap 6, tapping me from behind at turn 1 as he came in whilst practically touching my rear bumper, causing me to brush the wall on the exit. It's moments like this were I'll admit I get frustrated. I'm not in a Porsche, I'm in a big heavy FR. I need to brake slightly earlier to get the car to turn in. People do try to consider the characteristics of the cars they're racing against, right? Or is that just me?

The Lamborghini had a big run down to the docks and shot up the inside, only to get it wrong and go deep. The Porsche then comes charging in to the apex, so I have to stay wide and barely avoid the Lambo. The Porsche then pushes me into the Lambo, almost spinning himself in the process, then almost spinning the Lambo straight afterwards. Can you tell who my primary focus was throughout this race yet? 😅

Lap 7 saw unbridled murder as the polesitter got punted hard into the back wall next to the the pit entry by a Supra. He ended up pulling over and driving backwards for a while at the end of the race as it caused him to fall a long way back, so I imagine he was absolutely fuming. And I don't blame him from the replay; just absurd levels of aggression on show. The Supra tried braking after the 150 board whilst practically sniffing the polesitter's rear bumper and doing 176mph/284kph. There was no way he was ever stopping it safely. The game didn't even award a penalty for it, nor give him any damage.

I pit on lap 8, took fresh tyres and then emerged to realise what the next challenge would be - dealing with people who can get away without changing them. And guess who that includes, who got past me as I was on the pit exit lane?

I ended up sending it into the hairpin on lap 9 in a manner I very rarely do. The green Porsche tried squeezing me right, but I managed to get it stopped, park it sufficiently close to the wall to stop him sneaking up my inside whilst I'm waiting for the Corvette to point the right way and then out traction him out of the turn. He sends it into turn 2 on lap 10, goes deep, I get on the inside as we go 2-wide and then squeeze ahead coming away from the docks... possibly by the skin of my teeth.

I'm not actually certain if the game counts the kerb or line as the track limit on this bend. If it's the line, I pushed it to the absolute limit:

From there I finally managed to drop him out of my tow and escape on the fresh tyres, running P10. This is where the polesitter quit, so I moved up to P9 for free.

I was gradually reeling in another Porsche who'd pit on lap 2. I got slightly in front heading down to the docks on the final lap, held it around the outside as his tyres were heavily worn and then brought it home for P8 and 187 points.

The Manufactures Cup in Tokyo race today,

I started 14th and finished 11th.

The viper is no faster on the straight than any of the other cars, but it's poor in the corners! It needs to be faster on the straights to make up for the poor cornering.

I have had a huge error picking the Viper, it's too big for the track, slow in corners and no faster on the straights, the only advantage it seems to have is it can hold up to people trying to push you about on the track.

🙁

EDIT.

I think the BoP kills the car, I think it needs a couple more horsepower.

I wasn't able to catch any of the following 911, Ferrari, NSX, AMG or even an Aston Martin, if I were in the slip-stream yes I could, but I would think the car needs to be able to gain a little.

I know I am not really very good, but idk, The car feels like a generation behind everything else, the AMG with it's big engine up-front is the successor and I used to use it a lot when I started playing GT7.

Hate to break it to you it pretty much is. Possibly 2 generations. The ones racing today aren’t what PD put in the game.

It has its moments weirdly with Daytona but PD do PD so who knows.

I actually think the Ferrari was possibly the best race car round there but the Supra driven we’ll just had that Slipstreamless top speed and late torque :(

DR:A / SR:S 🇬🇧 GT1 Lobby Slot 2 - Lamborghini Huracán GT3 15' GR.3

Been working on this all year and really pleased to finally nail down a Win! 🥳 🥰 Qualified P2 with a decent time together.

I was battling practically for 1st right out the blocks neck and neck for the 7 Laps exchanging positions every couple of laps. Hurácan felt amazing here!

IMG_0095.jpeg

Very exciting stuff! Right up until we both Pit. We came out on Lap 7 together and sadly he cracked and overcooked the last corner before the Start Straight on cold tyres and binned it! Then it was a lovely cruise home for finish! 🥳 Finished with a nice 9 Second Gap to the cars behind with no further pressure! That’s me done for this week 😊

Yeah I was going to mention Daytona as the only track the Viper really shines.

I tried to go with a differential, but it didn't work, I am worried about going to the Nordschleife though!

Was expecting carnage here but actually quite good, a lot of action...

Had a poor quali (P15) but managed to move up to 9th on the final lap with a move at the hairpin...

Not an amazing result but the Alfa wasn't the choice car, hoping I can get closer to the front at Autopolis and the Nurbs.

That applies to pretty much all the Gr3/GT3 cars. I'm watching Sebring at the moment and I think the Lexus RC F is the only GT7 car competing (there are Huracans and AMGs but they are newer/Evo models).

The Viper being based on a 2015 model is pretty much in the middle of the age range for Gr3, a bit newer than the Vantage/458, a bit older than the RSR/GT-R/AMG.

Is there a newer AMG GT3? I thought there hadn't been a proper revision since the 2020 Evo model we got.

I love this Tokyo layout but today I didn't hook up a good quali lap and I paid the price.I started in 13th and worked my way up to 9th, after a Nissan driver hit the wall on the final left to the home straight. 208 points and my target for this race was over 200. Job done!

I also managed to provisionally improve my overall standing in EMEA to 63rd. I can't make Autopolis, due to work commitments but my favourite track will be in round 4, so I'm hoping for a much better result there. Hope you all had a good round.

I... think I'll be taking Wednesday off. Good lord, I'm not putting myself through the hell of dragging the Corvette around Autopolis. I am so far off the pace it's not funny and I cannot find it for the life of me.

See you all at the Nurburgring on Saturday. 😅

I’ll be honest my plan was just to circulate at the back for Autopolis and skip Nurbs.

This hasn’t been a very fun or thinking set of races so I’m a bit meh about it now.

Ufffff, this was a diffcult race to get some good pace, but overall it wasn't too bad. Tokyo is a tight race to say the least.

GTWS Cup - EMEA Region - 12pm slot - GT3 - B lobby - HONDA NSX Gr.3 - RS tyres.

My practice session were very focused and manged a good 1:56 time in the NSX after chasing a plethora of ghosts. It was that I could find some good time with this car and if pushed when in the actual race, it felt more unhinged.

Qualifying was bit messy as there was a silyl Ferrari driver who just wanted to bump people, didnt understadn why he was such a melon, as we all trying to get a decent time. But did ok, qualifeid 13th and away we go!

Race start - Some guy dropped out of 15th place and bailed the lobby and one ferrari sat behind me as we rolled off. I choose to take Lap 1 a bit too carefully as the two ferraris drivers were very erratic in their driving, this cost me some time and placed me last but i pushed. Laps 2 & 3 were getting quicker. Managed to use laps 4 & 5 after some spinouts and barrier penatlies to captilise on a few positions up to 9th.

Too much divebombing and over eager Ferrari driving on the last hairpin near the pits, made me captilise on places and I was up to 6th and holding on to my pace. The leaders all pitted on lap 7, but I carried on and was in 4th at that time.

When I pitted on lap 9 as I was still pushing the RS tyres as much as I could, I feel back down to 10th, but when back up to 9th as a Porsche served a 1sec penalty and then I chased a spanish driver to 8th but could not catch between lap 13-15 and finished overall 9th.

Not my best race and it was very hard to get any good overtakes except on slow hairpins, so overall an OK race. Not the best combo with barriers penatlies and tight street circuit, but the NSx has good pace ont he tunnel bits.

Heres hoping Autopolis can be a new win win. Onto Round 3!

The Alfa, and I, were slightly off-pace these last two rounds. Mid-D lobby today with an 8th for quali and 8th for the finish. Pittance for points but a slight bump in DR and a pretty fun and clean race all in all.
Looking forward to the next two rounds and hopefully a better result or two. I enjoy racing the nations/manu more than the dailies, for whatever reason, so its time to get practicing and get faster on autopolis and nord. Think the Alfa may like those tracks a bit more too.
