For GT2 Inters are fine, I'd say switch to them at the end of lap 10 or 11.

Got myself a 6th first time out, racing for Subaru. Was a fairly poor drive from me, not in the groove for qualifying or the first few laps, so down to last of the still running cars. It was only inside knowledge of the incoming weather got me up to 6th at the end. I was thinking to go again if outside the top 5. Um and ah'd whether to go again, as I had plenty more options later went for it.

Found myself in a race wth 10 A's and 6 of us B's, the good news was an extra 14 points on offer for the win compared to my first race. So figured all I needed was about 8th to match my previous score.

Qualified 12th, had a decent run to stick with the midfield pack waiting for the rain to come. When I was robbed, about to leap from 8th to 6th as the car ahead runs off into Spoon, another car was recovering on the exit of spoon. Still slow moving de-ghosted as he pulled across in front of me, and simultaneosly a yellow flag penalty is shown for passing the car that went off track!!!! Arrggghh

This left me 8th instead of 6th, a late spinner got me upto 7th at the finish, but should have been 5th. At least more points than race 1, so time to call it a day. If I got a race with less points on offer I'd probably need a 4th or 5th to better my score next time out, and I don't feel that on form at Suzuka to go for that.

Lol what surely with rain that's going to be approaching a 90 minute race in GT1 league then, if not more?
Am I crazy? I don't understand why anyone would ever want to do this? Let alone be happy about being forced into that long of a race?

I think this exhibition will be a fun experiment in how many credits I can get for parking the car in the pits on lap 1..

Yeah I'm a little concerned about trying to do 35 laps which are already 2 minutes in the dry with no traffic.....with weather and carnage this is going to be a long one.

P12, 140 points - 33 laps down from 1st. Lol.

How do you park in the pits?
Just don’t choose anything once you enter the pits and the game takes control. The car will sit in the box and the crew will wait forever (or until the race timer expires).

I'm happy with that one! Just wish I had a bit more DR because my race time was 16 seconds quicker than Kie in I presume top split, I lost just over 10 seconds with a couple of spins so need to tidy it up a bit in the next slot.

Oh dear......look who you lads had in 10th. :yuck::dunce:

Thanks to you guys who warned about rain I managed to go from 15th to 3rd place! I'm not this good, managed to get up to 11th place on my own before the rain, pitted in the end of 11th lap, changed to wet and by doing that I could take many places since many hadn't changed tires when the rain really started pouring down.

Quite enjoyed that race to some extent.

This is my challenger for the season ahead!

GT2 - 3pm UK - All DR B - Car number 6

Quali - what a mess! First lap I just catch the edge of the grass on the exit off T2. Lap over. 2nd lap was going well until I get to Spoon. A ahead was parked in the middle of the track for some reason. After that I was out of rhythm and only good for P14

Race - first 3 laps I keep clean and tidy and make my way up to P9 due to others going off.
IMG_1167.jpeg
Degna 1 I touch the Astro turf and round I go, drop to P14 again. From then on it, I keep it clean and make my way back up to P10 and then the rains starts. End of lap 10 Spoon was wet, and I thought this was the time to pit. Pitted 2 lap too early and lost about 10 seconds to P9.
IMG_1168.jpeg
During the rain I close in to P9 and on the final lap I get a stroke of luck. 2 cars in the lead for what ever reason never pitted and the last lap they were just sitting ducks. Raced to line for a chance of P7, but took P8 in the end.

Took home 99 points. Thought about going again but I’m happy with my result.
Started with 15 cars, and only 1 quit on lap 13.

Forgot to add.
The weather for me on GT2 & 3 I felt was just one or two laps too late. I felt like the weather was just about taking effect and then the race was over. But the slow weather system a big plus for me!

Just go to pit but don't select tyres, your car will be held there until you pick them so if you never pick them you stay there forever.
But why and to what end? I get and do rage pit in the dailies occasionally but why waste an hour of electricity just to sit there in a race you didn't want to do and didn't like in the first place?

Just a really interesting thing to do.

Simply put, I want the credits at the end of the season and don't want to do an endurance race.
If it wasn't a forced endurance, I would've done the race - or if there was no credit reward, I wouldn't do it at all.

What do you want the credits for that you couldn't have got doing a couple of sadegnas in the same time and actually driving?

I'm not having a pop bud I'm just curious that's all. Like I said I get it.

I don't enjoy grinding so I don't do it. This was just an easy way for me to get a participation award lol - I did a lap, pulled into the pits, went and made my girlfriend a meal and then we went out with the dogs. Not like I sat there staring at a pitlane for an hour.

Also a bit of an experiment as to where I'd actually end up :P

Now that makes sense 😝 I should have done the same thing but I bottled it and just didn't do it

I ran in the first slot in the morning. I did predict a rain so I made sure to equip my car with inters and wets. Quali didn't go well as I was stuck in traffic on the first lap and the second went even worse. Started P14. First 8-9 laps was quite dull. Some overtaking here and there. But on 10th lap it started raining on that sector after harpin. Not so much yet but I decided to put inters anyway. And on the following lap there was already 1/3 bar of wet under the bridge and people were flying everywhere. Interestingly very few pited after that lap. There was only more and more rain and on last lap I was even struggling on inters. But eventually I finished 3rd. Strategy plays a major role I this race. One could even consider pitting later and putting wets. Anyway that was a good race with dynamic weather.

I went McLaren for this season, and definitely liking the car. I had to replace the rim on my Fanatec wheel a few months back during the main season and picked up the McLaren one since it looked good. It seemed fitting to use the car it comes from. I've had a lot of misfortune with MR cars in the past but I like this one. It really doesn't have the loose rear end like the Ferrari - I actually have confidence driving the thing!

Today I rolled up to Suzuka feeling incredibly anxious since it's one of my weaker tracks. I've also not raced since the last season so I was scared of being rusty. It turns out this was going to be a rollercoaster ride and I'm very glad I did it. I'm now not sure whether this or the dynamic weather Nurburgring Endurance round from last season is my favourite of all time.

I started P9 with a 2:01.987 and prayed to survive turn 1 since I've binned myself there at the start too many times in the past. Thankfully no such misery today! Unfortunately I really, really couldn't find my rhythm in the melee. I did move up to P8 after going around the outside of a BMW at the hairpin as he seemed to be struggling hard off the line, but being ultra cautious due to heavy damage and just failing to find my pace meant I started falling down the order, eventually moving down to P13 before the rain came.

After discovering that this race was a copy of the Amsterdam final, I had been checking over the stream. I'm very glad I did! I pit at the end of lap 12 knowing that Spoon would be difficult on lap 11, very difficult on lap 12 and lethal with slicks on lap 13 and that completely turned everything around.

I entered the pits for Inters in P10 after getting past some people going ice skating at Spoon (although I did nearly join them on lap 12!) and was up in P6 after going past the pits on the following lap.

Surviving the wet stint went well. I did have some moments, but nothing critical - just a little bit of lost time at most. Now for the bit about this race that really, really amuses me. We had Coque Lopez in our race. I thought it might be a really fast fake, but I checked his Twitch stream and it was actually him.

He was doing a last-to-first challenge and had absolutely blitzed his way through to the front long before the rain arrived. Except... it turns out somebody forgot to buy wet tyres. He ended up DNFing.

I've technically beaten Rick Kevelham before after he got matched into a low A+ lobby for some reason and decided to just quit rather than taking part in the race. Now I've technically beaten a sitting Nations champion. Let's just ignore the fact it took him not having wet tyres.

After 76 minutes of sweat and nerves, I ended up P3 for 236 points. That's DEFINITELY a one-and-done!

Have to applaud you on that one. 1 hour race with fulL damage, weather and all in VR, and get a P3 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

———————————
GT1 racers, how was the heavy damage? Not see any complain yet? (Unless I missed it)

Also one thing to add from my GT2 & 3 racers. Anyone else just feel like the rain came at the wrong time? Race was just finishing as the rain came. Be nice if it was a few laps earlier.
Also that slow paced weather was perfect! I hope PD make this a permanent change!

Thanks! :D

I could be wrong, but I think the threat of heavy damage has toned down some of the aggression which I definitely appreciate. It definitely felt that way at least. People seemed more likely to take their time and take calculated moves rather than bombing through to try take positions. Going to need to see more races with it, but so far there's no complaints from my end.

A bit off topic for the current race, but does anyone know why the first Nation's Cup race looks like it's been reset, Ferrari has been removed from the list of specified cars and it looks like everyone's going for the Ford GT now.

They removed a bunch of cars because they were comically unbalanced (both too good, and too bad).

I picked Lamborghini for this exhibition season just to try another car and change it up again. It felt good to drive in my test sessions and I've seen a few in the seasons before so why not go for it? It was a pain trying to get my usual livery colors on the car but that's not remotely related to this.

I'm glad I checked here first as the rain was a huge factor in my race. Plus, I had to buy the wet tires or I would have been dead in the water without them. Anyway, I entered the noon GT2 slot in the Americas and was door 11. Got held up in qualifying on each lap and that was annoying as drivers were just in the way and I had no way to avoid them without going off track. I qualify P11 and hope for the best honestly.

The race stars and a few drivers spin off track and I find myself in P5 by the end of beginning laps. I almost lose it in turn 1, but I pull a sick Tokyo Drift and lose contact with the McLaren I was gaining on. Then the rain comes on lap 10 in Spoon and it's a mess. I think most everyone changed tires at that point. I baby the car around spoon on lap 11 and then pit to get on the inters. A few people don't for some reason, and I thanked them for their generous position donations. The last lap was an adventure as I didn't practice for the heavy rain, just the light rain. I finish P3 and am stoked for a podium finish for the first race!

So, one and done for me today. The leader won by 30+ seconds and I'm guessing they are a wizard or something. But, well raced by them so I gave them a congrats message in the post race chat. On to the next one. Good luck eveyone this season, and have some fun out there!

Thanks! :D

Yeah that’s the impression I get too from streams and the post on here. People are been sensible.
I think that why I been playing ACC more lately. You can’t just stick a nose in and get past without damage on that game. It more of a calculated overtake. Obviously Suzuka not great for overtakes so see how the other races hold up.

Agreed! If nothing else, I guess it makes sense why they added an extra zoomed-in radar in 1.36 now.
Yeah was good seeing how the weather was forming around Spoon. Also it made the racing better. You knew the weather was coming and you can make a more calculated guess at a stop, the other system people wouldn’t bother pitted then as it would just zoom past

Just finished, 10:00am PST slot in North America, driving AMG. I don’t think I’ll do better trying again, so this is it for today.

This is only my second “cup” race (GT2 class), so I was feeling a little pressure just to not screw up. I do have to say the format with qualifying right before the race is great.

Qualified 4th in the #11 car, had a shot at pole but didn’t leave enough space to the guy in front of me so I caught up and couldn’t lay down the second lap. After a purple first sector (the AMG feels soooo good in the flowy corners). Oh well, still a good effort/result.

Race start, clean T1, moved to 3rd in the Esses with a mistake in front of me, but got run wide at 130R on lap 2 dropping back to 11th. I saw the move coming, just didn’t handle it quite right (yelling “not in 130r!” at the TV as he approached didn’t seem to help 😂)

Anyway, settled in and made a few spots up before the rain, went to inters at the end on lap 10 from 7th. A little rough to start, but next lap people are sliding all over and I’m back up to 4th by lap 14. The last lap, I wished I was on full wets, it was really wet and slick. Set TCS to 5 after a couple “moments” just to limp out the last lap, but managed to hold off a catching Ferrari (I think on full wet) to keep my 4th.

79 points, mid B lobby, finished where I started, clean racing from multiple drivers in direct battles with me, all in all a great race 👍.

can’t wait for the next one, I really like the GR4/Seaside Reverse combo 🙂

This race is completely botched. I'm a 20 year veteran if Gran Turismo. I rarely race online due to the behaviour of others, but usually finish 1,000 to 5,000 in time trials.

After finally being able to get in to a time slot today, I qualified first in my lobby. Within 2 corners, I was dead last after being knocked off the track twice. Not a single racer was punished

Ok, I persevered as it was the last time slot of the day. I worked back up to 4th position by the time the rain came down. I pitted at the end of lap 9, only to find that the car I was given from the manufacturer does not have Intermediate or Rain tyres.

To pay $120 for PlayStation plus, they need to employ stewards who monitor races and hand out bans to dirty drivers. And to the Devs who set up a race without the prerequisite tyres, you need to consider a new career. That is 40 minutes of my life I will never get back
