Anyone actually doing any tuning for this round?
I am. I'm setting my rear dampers to minimum and leaving the front at default in my McLaren. I think that ends up being 30/40 front, 20/30 rear.

At Suzuka I found the car better suits my driving style if I induce a little bit of understeer with stiffer front dampers. I had previously tightened the front at Suzuka, but when I tried that at Dragon Trail I found the car really wasn't nice on the kerbs.

I just whacked on the same settings I ended up with at Suzuka, drives nicely for me

I did pretty extensive strategy testing for this round with just a standard BOP setting and without doing any ghost-following TT practice beforehand (I’ve found that just kinda jumping in and not necessarily being on the exact optimal lines better simulates actual racing, and will help me figure out strategy).

Now that I have my different strategies figured out, it’s time to follow some ghosts and hammer out a tune. I tried my tune I came up with for Suzuka, and yeah….it ain’t gonna work. Too damn soft through the entire COD complex. I could use a bit more turn-in, but I just need to figure out how to do it without compromising high-speed stability through COD complex and the esses in sector 2

I did a fair bit of tuning and testing on the Gr.4 RCZ. The only thing that I found helped my times was tightening the front compression damper. Changing any of the other settings just made me slower. That one change, though, helped me knock about 0.6s off my optimal time, so I feel like it was time well spent.

Been testing Gr.4 fuel a bit for tomorrow. I found the new Mazda3 is roughly equivalent to the Ferrari on fuel usage if you're going flat out, so one of the best in the class but the biodiesel isn't OP. The Atenza is the one car that might actually be able to pull of 1H/14S without too much fuel-saving, but the downside of that is in every other respect it's an awful car, so don't do that, Mazda drivers.

I think I'm going to try and fuel-save a lot in the Citroen, since it's a car that isn't great on fuel but is very good on tyres so extending the soft stint might still be worth it.

I’ve done some testing and it seems to me that PD might have nailed this combo as far as strat goes for GT1.

By my calculations
10s24h, 10s10s14h, 10s10s10s4h, 16m18h and 10s16m18h are all within about 4 seconds of each other.

The keys to best strat will likely be consistency and speed on different compounds, track position and damage.

It will be interesting (and critical) to see whether PD have fixed the aero repair bug before Saturday. It could literally decide races here.
Hold on, what's the aero repair bug? That one bug where it doesn't repair some damage after coming into the pits?

Also, thank you for those strategies. I don't have much time throughout the week to test myself, so it's nice to see you guys testing the strats and posting your calculations here. Although i must ask, what fuel settings did you use for these? Just fuel mode 1 or somewhere in between?

Not in GT1 so it doesn't matter to me but I do wonder if this is actually a bug or intentional. Have they stated anywhere it's a bug?

I can understand repairing engine damage and other parts that actually slow the car down but in GT racing is there much aero damage actually repaired at a pit? They don't really change parts IRL during a race so I wonder if it's a choice made rather than a bug.

First race of the morning and stuck on the loading screen after Warm Up to Qualifying 😪

If I understand what happened the first round right it would repair the aero damage but only if you changed to intermediate tyres so it sounds unintentional.

If you have wheel damage and aero damage it will only repair the wheels. It’s definitely a bug because in lobbies it will fix both.

I run exclusively FM1 with no fuel saving. I’ve now done 2 full 34 lap practice lobbies and the 2 stop with hards and softs is very effective. I’m likely to go with 10h12s12s.

No loading problems for me (PS5).

Euro GT3, low B in the NSX. Not my favourite track (or car to be honest). Qualified P11 with mistakes on both laps.

Decided to start on the hards and just try to keep out of battles. Held position as others had incidents and pitted from P11 on lap 5. Put on the softs and fueled up for the remaining 10 laps (or so I thought).

Took me a while to find any pace, didn’t even break into the 49s until lap 12. A bit of a messy battle with a Ferrari towards the end. They were clearly quicker but kept messing up and letting me catch them again. Had to let them go on the last lap as I got a low-fuel warning. Only 0.6 laps left. Had to drop the fuel map all the way down to 6 and shortshift. Nearly got caught by chasers but managed to cross the line with 0.1 laps of fuel and a P8.

Much better points than Suzuka (thanks to a big DR bump from Brands Hatch dailies) so I should be safe in the Honda GT3 top ten. Will likely skip the Ring next time up and do some GVH practise instead.

Good luck out there - the chicken of death is as angry in reverse and hungry for bodywork.

Same, I'm stuck with a black screen just as qualifying was about to begin. Absolutely useless, this has been ongoing in the dailys for 48hrs and they've done nothing, announced nothing, fixed nothing!
Hmmm….. thought this could/would happen. Did you guy wait it out or quit?

Im going to give it one attempt at the 11 Uk slot and see what happen. I’m tempted to wait it out and then have a 4/5 car race 🤣 but will it fix itself?

No issues with either of my 2 races though perhaps I wish there was for my first one.

9am
Got P9 on the grid. I was caught in some carnage in the COD which meant I understeered into the wall. However I got through better than some. All progressed fine until I spun out between the Larnini's. DFL and with a big job. I decided to carry on with my strat and pitted lap 3 but not after hitting the COD again.

From there I put down good fuel saving laps in clean air and eventually caught up. I made it back up to 12th before the end. Met a couple of idiots who either didn't want to be passed despite the differing stats or who though sticking it up the inside into the COD was a good idea. Could have had another place or two if it wasn't for them.

Decided to go again.

10am
A much better qualy got me 6th on the grid. I was purple in sector one as I had absolutely nailed the COD but took the Seaside hairpin too slowly and threw away the 4 tenths I had. Still it was my best lap of the weekend so very happy. I decided to stay on the same strat as it worked very well for me and hopfully starting more forward would help.
I navigated the carnage of the COD lap 1 and came out in 3rd with a good gap behind. However this race the car decided it didn't like the last chicane. I went wide coming out of it glanced the wall and bunny hopped back onto the track. I lost a few places but was still in the top 10 mix. Next lap was o.k. and then lap 3 I did the same thing at the chicane. At least it was my in lap.
I came out last but only 10 seconds down. From there I made my way back up through the grid as others pitted or fell off. Coming into the last lap I was chasing down a Cayman for 5th. They went wide into the Seaside hairpin and I seized my chance.

I left them for dead but the battling 2 ahead were a lap out of reach. I crossed the line P5 but got promoted to P4 as a Ferrari forgot their hard tyres.
Without my two escapades at the last chicane I think a win or P2 were easily doable in this race.

The Lexus felt really good here too. Fuel saving with a top up worked a treat for me in terms of strategy. I always had a bit of fuel to play with at the end.
Good luck all.

Oh dear… more server crap from PD. Manufacturers… just won’t load for qualifying. Keeps going around and around. If I sit here long enough I’ll be the only one left and win by default 😂🤣

Hmmm….. thought this could/would happen. Did you guy wait it out or quit?
I left if for 45 minutes before quitting, until it was time to enter the 10am round. Last night I left it for 50 minutes for the daily C with no luck connecting, but both times neither of these had a negative affect on my DR. So maybe better to wait it out than quit too quickly.

Second attempt worked no problem, qualified 3rd had some close racing until lap 9. Leader pullled away once he settled down and stopped making mistakes, close racing for 2nd, 3rd & 4th. I was just getting past 2nd at the end of lap 9, with 4th also right on my tail, they both pitted, along with the leader. This left me on my own for 2 laps, as I was quite easily on target for 11 laps with minimal fuel saving from earlier. Really surprised checking the replay no one else made it past lap 9 before pitting.

The extra 2 laps on softs and shorter refuel time meant I came out the pits close behind 1st, well ahead of 3rd & 4th. Couldn't match the leaders pace, so it was just a cruise to the finish from there.

Hoping the little one gets fed up with her Nan quick today and I can get home for another shot
This is where a big question people are going to asking comes in. What if you get connection issues in your next attempt? Will that count as a quit and wipe out your 5th, or will you get to keep your 5th place points?

You immediately forfeit any results you already have if you join another slot.

I'm reading about a lot of problems in the EU server, people stuck in the qualifying lobby or pre-race.
No problem for me at the 12 italian time, very bad Q caused by a user lagging around that destroyed my fast lap, 5min is a really short time, is a make or break, so I started 8th.
If Q was bad the first lap was way worse, sandwiched between the usual two angry guys, back to 14th.
So....no worry I told myself, time to get back.
And back I went, started with soft tires I entered the pit 9th P at the end of the 9 lap, people couldn't drive with the hard tires so the chicane of death became a trench, and finally a couple of users I guess they were finishing the fuel and slowed down on purpose....
In the end, 4th.
Quite happy, I don't have time to try again before tonight so I call it a day and back at the PS5 after dinner tonight when the race will be over.
Good luck everyone, just be aware that before and after the pit is a whole different race, and be patient you got to know when to let others overtake you before hard spot as the chicane of death, don't come into that sector being too close or in a fight, it's gonna destroy your race.

You need to set aside 90 minutes for a GT1 slot. There are only 3, and in Australia they are 8,10 and midnight on a Saturday night. After hours of practice this week, I am sitting here doing nothing, watching the track montage because qualy has failed.

THIS IS SIMPLY NOT GOOD ENOUGH.

PD can forget about any kind of e-sports credibility because this is amateur hour in the worst possible way.

FIX YOUR GAME!

Bad day today!

Lobbies… had no issues at all. Quali and the Race loaded straight away.

Car - Nissan Silvia

Race 1 - all DR B lobby, Car number 1 - 136 points available.
Quali - 1.47.4 which put me P2.
Race - Started on hards as that was my strategy and what I knew worked well. Also I knew I can run the last 9 laps on soft tyres without issues. Race start and im holding on to P2 for 2 laps. P3 & P4 by this point decided that as I’m on hards it’s time to get dirty. They start to hit me and try slight push to passes until lap 4 P4 decides enough is enough and just punts me off at T1. After pitting on end of lap 6 I’m doing good pace, until a Porsche just totally blocks me, and in trying to avoid I’m off and round I go. Manage to finish P11 in the end, but looking at the gaps I was good enough for at least a P5.
87 points for that race.

Race 2 - mix DR A/B lobby, Car number 14 - 149 points available.
Quali - 1.46.8 for P4 this time.
Race - I didn’t know what tyres to start on, went hards again as Im not sure I can do 9 laps on the opening stint. Again not a bad start holding on to P4, and this time I cut the chicane and 0.5 penalty put me back into P8. Lap 3 again the soft tyre runners decide that the hard tyre runners need punting off. Again I’m off no fault of my own. After the pit stop I’m pushing too hard and make an error in the S’s and I’m now last. After 2 quit and catching and overtaking P13 I manage to finish P12. DR A driver just having fun went soft soft so 1 min penalty.
Finished on the day with 79 points.

Not sure if I can be bothered to go again. I know I have a result in me but when driving standards are pretty poor (for what I’ve experienced so far today) not sure I have the energy to go again.
