Why do you say "both my laps"?

Sorry, newbie in these World Series. Qualifying is 5 minutes and you exit out of the pit lane (right?) so you need to do an out lap. Suzuka is 2m/lap which means you only have 1 qualifying lap to get it right?

If I'm right about this, you should exit the pitlane within 1 minute after the start of qualifying. How do you decide when to start? Is this a strategy? Do you try to be first or last and avoid being in the middle?

Thanks for your valuable insights!
Nope. If you cross the line before the time (in this case 5 minutes) run off, you are able to finish the lap. So at Suzuka you can do 2 counted laps in a row.

Pretty uneventful run for my Aston Martin race in low B GT2. Started 14th, finished 12th doing a 5M/10S. No offs, no penalties but sadly no pace. Hopefully it will show up at Daytona.

Oh, and the annoying livery-wrecking number boards are still present.

Mildly bemused by people saying they're doing 10 laps on softs at Suzuka. I did some practice last night and 13M/7S is about the best I can manage in the GT-R.
Being slow helps (in my case anyway).

Quali is 5 minutes + some extra time to allow people to finish their laps. If you started the 2nd timed lap before the 5 minutes are over, you can finish the 2nd timed lap as well.

Strategy is up to your own preferences (and where you get out). I personally prefer to run on my own, away from other drivers to focus on my thing. You should leave at least 3-4 secs gap to the car in front.
Slipstream is off in quali so that is not something you need to consider.

Qualified 14th, started on Soft, changed to Medium in lap 6 or 7, got 3 sec pit line penalty (:embarrassed:) and ended the race on 10th place, not bad, but while I'm still mid C, I'm loosing DR almost every time, need to focus on 8th place at least... will not be easy, but I did two mistakes today and without them, maybe I would be a bit higher on the board... maybe.

Started 3rd (very good lap tbf, no idea where it came from). Top two started on softs, I (and just about everyone else I think) was on mediums. Pole sitter went wide at Spoon on the first lap and got back past me on the next. I ran pretty comfortably in 3rd with a few cars behind me getting close then going off track before I pitted on lap 13. The second stint was another GT-R chasing me. He pitted a lap earlier but he was clearly faster. He got a good run out the chicane but he went wide at Spoon so I took the place back, and that was that.

Finished 3rd for 148 points in 40:40 which was about on track with my practices. I think I did a 40:39 today before the actual race. My practices were all on my own and that's largely what happened today, so that helps.

That was me, using my wheel-only account (Norbert Wheeler). I was planning to get to the end of the lap before i caught you, then immediately drop back to give you guys space, it was a good lap and I knew it would be my best (which it was). My race went ok-ish, started P7 on RS, tapped into T2 and dropped to P13 but was P8 by my pit stop at the end of L7, I was battling a yellow Nissan which went onto RS at the same time but I kept up with them on RM as we both gained a couple of places, I drew alongside going into L13, they blocked and sideswiped me a couple of times, I had the line into T1 so they just didn't brake into T2 and punted me off before continuing on their way. I didn't lose any more spots but couldn't catch them again so P6. Ah well, DR up I suppose, but having been able to do some lovely clean league racing recently going back to sport mode feels like it's even more full of Bertie Dastards than before.

Then I had to shut down GT7 in order to go and play this huge multiplayer RPG I seem to have become involved in called "Office"...🙁

Good racing today all!
Ah fair play. I saw what happened to you whilst studying the replay. Another silly and unnecessary dive into T2. I'll try and remember the name and say hello next time. Good luck for the rest of the season.

I tend to leave the pits at 4:30 remaining to allow the crowd to go so I should get a lap to myself. Unless chased by another GTP member that is. It ruined both my laps as it was at the end of the lap. I crossed the line with 4 seconds left so was able to get a second one in. Obviously I was going slower as I had spun at the end of the previous lap.

Of course they are. They are always there. I put them on the when doing liveries so I don't pop a decal underneath.

Qualified P4, got punted L1 coming out of turn 1 and finished P7, very frustrating to be a DS (I just came back to the game after several years off) when I was an AS back in GT Sport. The drivers are so dirty that I fear I’ll never reclaim A level, oh well, I’ll simply have to learn how to become a “demolition derby” driver I expect but I do resent the lack of decorum and sportsmanship provided in the D class 😁. Here’s to great racing and good luck to you all in todays races!

Apparently they weren’t there for the Nations Cup. I skipped it so don’t know for sure.
