Well this was an intresting race to say th eleast, I really thoguht i could have done better after yesterdays pratice run. Was a mixed bag it was to be honest! Let down by a crappy penalty system...

GTWS MANU CUP ROUND 4 - INTERLAGOS - EMEA Region - 12PM Slot - Chevy Corvette Gr.3 - GT3 - Lower C lobby!

So I chugged into some practice and got some good times over my runs a solid 1:34 time and waitied to enter.

Onto qualifying, this was a really mixed bag, started off first but couldnt get my rythm with the Corvette and managed to squeeze in. a thrid lap before the timer ran out, but the game cut me off early before i reached the finished line so couldnt improve my postion and started ina crusty 11th place.

Onto the Race time!

The Race itself faired a bit better but had it fair share of argy bargy at turn 1 on lap 1, helped me gain a few positons up to 9th, where I sat and then climbed 3 places form some intense battling up to 6th. I was sitting there chasing a DBZ livery 911 RSR and GTR to chase all through laps 5-8. I got bumped on lap 8 form a chasing porsche who braked late and sent me wide but I recovered to push away from his mistake. Then I kept fighting into 5th and then kept pushing, then got hit on lap 11 with. a bs pnealty as just skimmed the inside of turn 2 on that kap and it cost me dearly 1sec penatly oh no, boooo, so annoying, so i feel down to 6th and rounded off the race there. Got some decent points but overall I was not happy with my race effort.

Hopefully Daytona will be much more better for the yank car and me! Onto ROund 5! LFG!

Oh Punterlagos, how much do I loathe thee? Let me count the ways....

Raced on my EMEA wheel-only account first, mid-B, door 11, ~80pts for the win. Q11, but it didn't matter because I got rammed to DFL on lap 1 like always happens here. 5 seconds off the field but dragged myself back to P8 by the end with some good dices and moves. The rammer tried it on some other folk and got to the front of a pack then caused a Trulli Train, all of whom went wide at T4 meaning I picked up 4 spots for nothing, then they rage quit... Still, DR up, let's get out of here while the going's not quite as rubbish as it could be.

Then onto my AO account, upper B and ~125 pts for the win, door 6. Q13, got up to 8th as others clashed in the first four turns, but it didn't matter because I got rammed to DFL on lap 1 like always happens here. 5 seconds off the field and apart from passing a penalised car and a spinner, and someone else who quit, so a lonely drive to 13th... then the game kicked me out before we got back to the lobby screen so no score. Go again.

Next lobby, ~120pts for the win, now door 10 following the DR hit for being kicked out. Q8, and then Q6 glitched on the grid so the back half of the field had a grid start 20 seconds behind the top 5. At least this means no concertina effect on lap 1 and I retain 8th, battling hard for p7 with a Lamborghini. We were never more than 0.8 apart and were side by side at least once on most laps, but we never touched - I can't believe I battled like that for 13 laps round Punterlagos and got the CRB, but I did. Lost out on P7 by 0.2s, but the clean battle made up for any amount of lost positions and made my day. DR up and a respectable points haul meant I was only too happy to close the book on this one and turn my thoughts to Daytona.

Q11, P6. 20:24 total time in a 181 point lobby (I've just realised this is probably because my last two races were disconnects at Spa)

Pretty uneventful race, though I was concentrating really hard and had probably better pace than my practices. Every position I made up was through people spinning out. No crashes, everyone going off on their own. A Porsche caught up to and passed me at the start of lap 10. I didn't fight it much because he had been lapping faster than me, but he didn't really pull away and I took the place back on lap 12 and gapped him a bit by the end.

Big up @tankuroded for the livery as well

Not a strong track for me or the car, qualified ahead of only a Renault and a DNF (after getting overtaken by a Porsche who didn't leave enough room ahead of him going into the qualifying laps), beat two DNFs (one of which was the same Porsche) after the Renault biffed me into a McLaren.

Basically lost a second a lap, so it would have been a mid-pack finish other than the 14 lost courtesy of the Men-ault-ce...

I ran the 1PM EST GT2 slot and had no practice what so ever. I manage a P4 after qualifying and had a pretty boring race. I moved to P3 after some contact between the leaders and I took over the spot. I had troubles with turn 4 all race and it cost me time almost every lap. But, the leaders were fighting hard, yet clean, and that kept me close despite the troubles. I fall to P4 after a near spin and terrible infield section. An off track penalty makes me fall to P5 where I finish. I probably should have gotten P3 if I was cleaner in my lines, but I'll take a P5 any day of the week. I got 76 points with P1 getting 92. Some good clean and quick pace racing always makes for a good time for me.

Quali P3 but started P2 ( he must have got kicked), clean racing, I got no penalty’s nor went off track and finished P4, attributed to this driver sucks! I left the game in ‘20 and my brother got me back here a couple months ago and dang I need to relearn how to drive fast again 😁 I did share the race; my brother, in his race today, was in P3 and P1&2 both pitted giving him the win, I wish I could get a race where the leaders can’t read! Hoping you all do well today and back to practice laps for me.

Two races for me today. Slot one 336 point lobby door #16 On paper, I was out of my depth. Qualified P12, with a mid 32. The guy in P13 was glitching like crazy and he was teleporting back and forth. So I was already nervous before the race started.

The race starts and we all make it out of T1. Until a Spanish driver in a Porsche and a South African in a Genesis decide to go at it on lap 1. Come on guys! seriously! it's lap one!

Anyway, it ends up with the Spanish driver going off at the last turn, before the kink left onto the home straight. After bouncing off the wall on his erratic return to the track, he heads toward the path of my car. But he's not ghosting, so I hit the brakes to avoid front damage only for Sparks Theory (popular streamer) to rear end me and send me forward. Not enough to send me off track, but enough to cause permemanent rear damage.

Somehow, Sparks escapes with no damage at all!!??? Clearly those Mclarens are better built than the Lambo's. I naturally drop places and finish P11. After driving 12 laps with damage.

I enter his live stream to inform him he gave me heavy damage, and he gives me a month's membership as an apology. All is forgiven!

Second slot: Door #1!!!! Are you kidding me!!!? 315 point lobby. But with much faster drivers than my higher points first slot.
(Make it make sense).

Some people are definitely sand bagging their driver ratings. Whatever works for them I suppose. I qualify P15 and finish P10 with 197 pts.

I take the 197 pts and run for the hills. Today wasn't going to get any better. Sometimes you have to know when to quit and walk away.

Hopefully Round 5 (Daytona re-run), will give me a chance to improve my overall score of 720 points for the season. I'm just going to try and have fun and hopefully finish within the top 8. Overall, a great season for me so far, I've moved up 4 places on the regional EMEA top 100 board. But i think I'll need over 230 points at Daytona to stay in the top 100. I hope you had better luck than me today!?

Honestly, life got in the way and Interlagos sprints aren't massively appealing even though I won the last one a while back.

GT1 didn't bother. Race report /

Reality is that a Saturday afternoon is not my own and as much as I love my racing I can't justify this sort of race to myself or my family especially as there was no dance or engagements I could dodge.

That went better than expected, and i'm glad it did since i'm not the best at Interlagos, plus i missed the original Daytona round and Spa.

I joined the 4pm slot and i was door 14. I was in the same lobby as @bliprunner, so it was nice to race against blip again. Qualifying went well since i qualified P5. My first flying lap was pretty scruffy but that still put me in P8, so i had a little bit more confidence going into my 2nd flying lap which went much better.

The race never got off to a great start since a fellow Audi driver was pretty slow through the Senna S, which held me up and that cost me 2 positions. Then a couple of corners later, someone in the old NSX GT500 car bumped into the back off me and that gave me rear damage.

Then from lap 2 until the end of the race, i had a good hard fought battle with R4M Apache who was in a Porsche. I did lose a position to him 2 times on lap 9 and lap 12 but every time i was able to gain the position back. That was the hardest i've had to defend in GT7 in a while but it was fun.

Myself and others gained 2 positions because on lap 9 in the race, the other Audi (P4) and the newer NSX (P5) were playing bumper cars with each other, and they wiped each other out just before T6.

In the end i finished in P5, which i'm really happy with, especially after a hard fought battle.

Also shoutout to @bliprunner for a nice recovery drive. He made his way through the field and was on the tail of Apache and myself during the last 4 or 5 laps. GG's

Cheers, fun race and I apologise again for questioning your driving after! It should have been directed to Apache who to be fair did apologise in the post race lobby. I thought he gave me a cheeky bump braking for turn one, watching the replay it wasn't super clear. I didn't react at the time and just as well. But anyway, you guys fighting so hard made for a mega last few laps.

Had a rotten quali and that was straight after doing some decent practice laps and feeling quite confident. P15 to start and was bumped wide on lap one by the chasing Merc and sent to the back...

IMG_9765.jpg

Then I relaxed a bit and the pace returned, had a really fun time moving up the field, I'm still loving the Alfa and the way if can jump out of corners, I think I got 3 people round the outside at turn one.

Things were going really well and caught up with @GT5Apex in the final laps having a proper battle with the Porsche. Think I got a bit too passive at this stage realising that I was now P7 and not wanting to throw a top half finish away, and then the two cars I'd just escaped from came right back at me...

IMG_9766.jpg

Wish we'd had another ten laps because it was really good racing for the final few, but I'll take P7 happily after that awful quali.

Could only do the 8am slot.

Messed up my qualy a little bit and couldn't put a good lap together so started P13.
An NSX takes avoiding action into T1 ahead giving me a place. I battle with a GT-R into Curva do Sol but they keep the place.
642d6b4153bda71cb2c278290a00a32a_photo.webp

Later another BMW decides to dive off the circuit into T8 to get past me. They then refuse to give space on exit and promptly pit themselves off. Good!
Lap 2 and another GT-R gets shoved into a slide at Bico do Pato. I claim their place as they recover. Everything closes up out of Juncao and I have to try and go around a Hyundai.
d9fd122fef3267a1c902f4c8d1cfcac5_photo.webp

I briefly have my nose ahead and manage to get around the lap 1 GT-R but the Hyundai is also trying and we sandwich up. After a bit of banging I'm back to behind them. Out of Juncao another GT-R spins and takes a trip across the grass. A Lexus who also went on an excursion is now between me and the others. They cut across the 2nd part of the Senna S and take out the Hyundai who just ghosted in time. The NSX from before has caught up and gets me into Descida do Lago. It was here through turn 9 that my car just went for a random slide. It was as if someone had turned on a magnet on the rear quarter. Experienced nothing like that in both the practice or rest of the race. Thankfully the barrier kept me facing forward but I was now down to P14.
A Lambo was battling with the NSX but took too much kerb in Curva do Sol and span out. A WRX also has a slide through Ferradura and I grab that place back. The GT-R which took an excursion tried braking on the grass into Bico do Pato and went for another spin. 3 places in 1 lap. I was now in P11. However since my spin I lost a lot of confidence in the grip. The car would often understeer in braking and I was just too cautious through corners. I was loosing time to those behind. As a result on lap 12 the Hyundai gets back past me. I loose more time as I have stop a spin out of the corner. I finish in P12 but get promoted to P11 as the Hyundai gets a penalty for cutting across the pit/ hash area towards the line.
Not the best of races and now onto a track that's not too kind to me in Daytona.

I ran the first GT1 slot in the Americas (5 PM EST). I was in door #15 of an mid A/S lobby, driving for Hyundai, with 190 points up for grabs. Having missed all the earlier rounds, I only had to finish to improve my score.

Qualifying was mess. I had plenty of space, but I went wide at T4 on my first hot lap, picking up a 0.5s penalty. Serving it ruined my run into the second lap. Ended up in Q15 -- last place because somebody quit -- with a time of 1:34.286s.

gtws-mc-rd4-start.jpg

The race got off to a good start. Being last place, I didn't have to worry about anybody behind me. A Corvette failed to find a place in the train through the esses, and I managed to pick up a spot on the run to T4, putting me in P14.

On lap 2, though, I braked a little early for T4 and the Corvette bumped into me. I went flying straight off the end of the track. He waited up for me, which I appreciate, but felt a guilty about because now the two of us were 10 seconds back from the rest of the pack for a mistake I made. I picked up rear bumper damage. I assume he picked up front bumper damage.

We hung around the back for a while. I managed to start pulling away from the Corvette, and eventually others got into their own incidents. I picked up a bunch of places from crashed cars, and even managed to overtake somebody who had picked up even more damage than me.

Finished in P9 for 127 points. Not bad, all things considered. I'll take it.

Despite this being one of my better tracks, I had a feeling this was going to be a ho-hum round for me - being that I had to change my elastomer stack yesterday to have a functional brake pedal today. Was able to hot lap in the low 1:32’s in FP, but true to form…I couldn’t hook up a good qually lap all night long.

Race 1:

Horrible qually with a 1:32.8. Good for 9th or something. Got up to 6th by lap 2. Rear ended with damage on lap 3. Fell to 8th by lap 4. Pin-balled on lap 5 and sustained major damage. Drove out the rest of the race for 10th, I think.

IMG_5796.jpeg

Race 2 - another 297 point lobby

Couldn’t hook up a lap again. 1:32.9 for 10th place. Honestly didn’t drive too well. But I lucked into some positions at the right times, and defended when I had to. Finished 5th…but I feel like the fighting behind me helped out.

Whatever. I’ll take it 😂

Created a web page on YouTube.com, and somehow figured out how to link it to my console. Here’s a screen recording of race #2.

A bit late in the game but eh, better than never!

This time I pick Dodge, cause this is actually the first manufacturer I actually drove with in GT Sport. So why not! Time trial practice was...alright. Barely into the upper 1:33's, so not blistering pace. Then the qualifying actually starts. I accidentally hit a Corvette which I though twas gonna let me go but didn't, which ended us up both in 13th and 15th respectively.

The race was MUCH better. Race pace was pretty good considering I'm not used to the car, and in a span of few laps & people hitting everyone else but me, I was into top 10. Then the later laps till the end I was in a good fight with a Suzuki, which was the most fun on GT7 I've has in a good while! Last lap into the Descida de Lago he goes deep, I switchback, and with just a small tap exiting I got a hard fought Top 5 and 181 pts. Happy Days!

Was placed in the highest GTWS lobby to date with 365 points up for grabs. Had a dismal qualifying performance (p14). Managed to work my way up the slipstream train. As others battled, I sniped a few spots and I got lucky with a couple drivers dropping out/crashing.

I think I've found my place (pace) for now. Gonna need to really fine tune the minor details of my inputs before expecting to get any further. The top two were battling the whole time and still running a second a lap quicker.

This, and the Spa race, are a reminder that you don't have to be the fastest on the grid to hold your own. I think I bagged 258 points for this and dint lose any DR. That's a small win!
1950c2c154a43-screenshotUrl.jpg

Was able to qualify 3rd on the grid but P2 driver disconnected before the rolling start giving me a P2 start. +5 brake balance once again and it really helped in turn 1 which has always been a problem with races before. Not a lot of passing happens on Interlargos so I just wanted to keep pace with no mistakes and finish the race in good standing. Lap 6 the leading Porsche messed up on turn 3 and spun off track giving me the lead. From there I just kept driving my race and not worried about the cars behind me because I knew I was faster than the rest of the drivers leading up to lap 6. +5 brakes worked out great for me, good turn and mid corner rotation and strong corner exit acceleration. The NSX loves this track and happy to finally get a Manu win with it that I always came close to getting between GTSport and GT7.

It's still the best three rounds, but from the five in total. I can't think of any reason why you couldn't have rounds two and five as two of your best three...
But I think the fact that the leaderboard has carried over might suggest that this is being treated as a continuation, not a separate round.

Famine is right, they added the round in as a repeat to counter the PSN issue, even those that could run will only have best 3 count so the number of actual races makes little difference.

I know why it was added. But if it’s being treated as an entirely new round, why did the leaderboard carry over?

There is a non-zero possibility that this is actually just extra slots in round 2 rather than round 5.

I'm not sure it works like that, it's possible but the nett outcome is the same?

This is why I don't think it makes a difference if only your best 3 results count in 3 separate races?

Even if it is a carry over for GT1 thats just 3 extra races, vs GT2/3 which is roughly what 9 extra races.

What im saying is it doesn't matter if its an extended round 3 or a round 5 the nett result is the same for all.
