Gran Tursimo 4 Delayed in Japan

As far as additions go, you could keeep delaying the game forevermore by just tweaking and adding things so there has o be a point where you say enough is enough were done. The only reasons I would be okay to see GT4 dealyed would be a top class online mode, good AI, every car to have a race mod and if it was only a month delay then Ferrari and Porsche would do fine, but I wouldn't wait more than a month.

In my neck o' the woods, my sources (game stores) are saying November 9.
Game Informer magazine (best game mag?) also says early November.
On the other hand, their current info about GT4 is probably what they obtained at E3 almost 6 months ago.
The waiting and the delays do not bother me this time. I was bothered about GT3's delays, but I was expecting this.
I don't care -- I know GT4 will be the finest piece of software yet developed for the ol' PS2. I just hope my PS2 makes it ( purchased on release day, Oct.'00, serial # U1001691 - NTSC...yes, the 1,691st North American PS2, and it still works flawlessly...I hope forever).

I don't know why everyone is getting so mad about it. I mean i guess i understand where everyone is coming from, but as others mentioned before, it is from IGN, and it is most likely a RUMOR. It also said delayed for JAPAN. Most of us here do not live in Japan...so i think everyone needs to chill out just a little bit. I know it seems frusterating, but until you know the facts, we're just waisting time with this thread.

My wild guess is now that Sony announced the PStwo (according to rumors), they might actually be holding off release of GT4 to accompany the release of the new PS3 rumored for next spring. After all, what was the single biggest game to accompany the release of the PS2 that pretty much guaranteed every young, hot-blooded male in Japan would rush to get one?

It wouldn't be surprising to hear that the DP developers got tapped on the shoulder and told that they were given an extended deadline to polish up the game except that it would only be for PS3... Sony's already sold a bajillion PS2's so it's not like they need another game when they could definitely use it to hype the new platform.

Of course, hearing from a buddy that HIS friend working on the OS localization team of PS2 in Tokyo was laid off recently... not only himself, but the entire group!

On the other hand, all this paranoia could be from playing way too much Prologue; I'd almost be tempted to sell off my PS2 (Japanese) and copies of GT3, GT3 Motor Show, and GT4 Prologue...

You couldn't be more wrong, really. The PS3's release date is thought to be 2006 at earliest. And why would you want a PS2 game to accompany a console that has so much more (nearly unlimited of what I've heard and read) power?
The possibility for Japan however may be that they are optimizing stuff for the PSP. But I can't really see how that would affect the PS2 version.

I agree with Dev_Zero, GT4 is a PS2 title, it would be stupid to hold it back till Christmas 2006, the PS3 won't be out before then, thats the earliest it will be playable next year at E3 which sounds about right for that release schedule.

I say we just ignore any more info about release dates and whatnot untill Polyphony just names a date.
I could care less about when it gets released, its not like theres no games coming out soon to look forward to. San Andreas, for one, and Halo 2. Id look forward to Half Life 2 but theres no way in hell I can play it on my computer.

I don't know, what? It sure as hell wasn't GT3. That didn't get released for another seven months.

I remember the only decent game for the PS2 at launch was Madden 2001.

Why do i think IGN just posted this to get more hits on their site? It's not even specific information. A "winter" release was anticipated, or at best a late fall release, around November. Another useless piece of unconfirmed information by IGN i think. More hits, more ad revenue for them.

Maybe...

is what the title of the article is. 👎
