Grand-Am GT Cars - What Class?

I've been watching quite a bit of the Rolex Grand-Am series lately, and naturally I've been modifying my cars to match the looks of their real-life counterparts. While I can nail down the designs through the storefront, I'm not sure what class I should be modifying them for.

I'm leaning towards S after I've modified my '10 Camaro SS. It has a full cage, race suspension, just about every engine mod short of a swap or forced induction. I could probably get it somewhere in the low R3 territory but it wouldn't be competitive. Currently my Dempsey Racing RX-8 is A599 but I can't remember if I did that because it wouldn't be competitive in S, or I just stopped modifying it for some reason.

I'm curious to see what everyone else thinks. I'm not really racing online. It's just one of those "why the hell not" moments.

Wow, I made myself those 2 cars using the same designs from the storefront. :lol: I followed the regulations for Grand-Am I found somewhere on the internet and they both came out at around the PI 630 area. I never did any testing on tracks to try and match real life laptimes though so I'm not sure if that's accurate.

I would probably go for A class if you're tuning it to be top of its class but that's just me.
 
I actually caught these cars in action at Mid-Ohio two weeks ago, and yesterday after building my Stevenson Camaro, my jaw dropped when I realized that it sounds almost identical to the real thing (with race exhaust). I give T10 HUGE props for that!

It turns out I should have done my homework. I was trying to match the Camaro with the stock 458 (S645) which lead me to believe that they needed to be in supercar territory. But then I stumbled on this:

The 458 Grand Am is built to match the American regulations and is therefore different to the European car, especially in that it develops 500 horsepower and has less efficient aerodynamics than the GT version. It is also fitted with a 48 mm restrictor and maximum revs are 8000. Significant modifications have been made to the braking system, as the car has neither ABS nor traction control. Other differences to the GT3 include the roll-over bar which gives greater lateral prot ...

I'll try detuning my Camaro back down to A class. I actually started it there (though in the form of a ZL1). I think next up is the M3 since I won't be able to detune the 458 to compete in the "proper" class.
