Grand Theft Auto: 100% Checklist

Yeah, but it's not in the AUP as far as I recall, and I don't think it's really serious. I mean come on.

Anyway, another Edit on the looks. Awaiting Blake doing GTA 1, GTA: London 1969 and GTA 2. After that, I'm close to being done.

Ahh so I did. Took me a while to figure out what I'd spelt wrong. I was probably typing too fast and didn't see the error. I've become "one of them".

Corrected it.

KM, I dunno why but yuor name is really hard to type properly, that's why I just use KM in most cases now, except in the Record Book.

Yeah, I quote it as KM. I mispelt it in the 100% Checklist, and I know how to spell it. You have a difficult name, even though it seems fairly simple.

Updated: You don't need to spend $600 on the stripper in Pole Position, only $300. Thanks to Spuds and Famine for that.

You know, I'm pretty sure you don't need to deliver the Securicar vans to that garage in Portland so get 100%

Maybe someone can confirm this.

KM.

Actually I'm fairly positive you do...

Maybe you don't, but I'm almost positive you. Any confirmation from someone else would be much appreciated.

I'm pretty damn sure you have to do it to get 100%. I'll try to find out for sure but I'm sure you have to do it.

I belive you only have to deliver the Securicar once, during the Van Heist mission. After that you will only get money rewards for delivering more Securicars. You don't get any extra percentage.

I thought that might be the case, yet something else in my mind said you had to do it.

Well,i've looked thru the 100% completion FAQ on GameFaqs and it doesn't say that you have to deliver the Sucuricars in order to get 100%.This is all it says:

"JOEY MISSION 3: VAN HEIST

DIFFICULTY: 4/10

1.Before activating the mission, steal a police car. Then when
you actually begin you'll be in the best vehicle for the job.

2.The Securicar is cruising slowly around town. Wait until you
can hit it at top speed, and then do so. Drive away, get
another good long run up, and then charge it again. Small
knocks don't have much effect on the armoured van.

3.The police will automatically start taking an interest in you
as you smash up the van. Whenever you get two wanted stars,
leave the van and go to your hideout to get them off your back.
There's no time limit to destroy the van, and so you can do
this as many times as you need to.

4.Eventually you'll make the van stop and its passengers will
flee. If you've no wanted level, jump in.

NOTE: This is the your first good chance to find another Securicar
van for the Import/Export garage. You can't take the one in the
mission, but driving town in this one drastically increases your
chances of finding another a new one. If you don't find one after a
while, don't worry; you'll get other chances. But if you do find one
then ditch the battered Securicar and take this one to your hideout.
It can just about fit inside the garage there, and when you've
completed this mission pick it up at your leisure.

5.Take the Securicar to the docks, to the garage on the map.

NOTE: You can now take Securicar vans to this garage for a small
reward. Only do it if you've delivered one to the Import/Export
garage."

But i'm not sure.I don't remember exactly if you could just keep delivering the Securicars or if there was a limit on how much you could deliver. If there is a limit then you have to complete that aswell. If however you can keep doing it forever then you don't have to do it in order to get 100%.

Good point. Yeah, I just thought to myself the other day that I don't think there's a limit. I don't recall, but I can test this out sometime soon. Thanks for that information GTChamp2003, I believe you have answered the question.

Edited.

Is it true that if you use cheats before finding all 100 hidden packages, you cant get them all? i completed all missions, property, sidemissions, rampages etc but only had about 85 hidden packages when i started using cheats to have fun..unfortunately i made the mistake of saving the game with a cheat on (riot i think) and i went back to looking for hidden packages...im currently stuck @ 99/100! The riot thing is a good trainer tho, it makes you much more vigilant as to whats happening around you and your surroundings in the game. I strongly recommend putting it on early in the game (but NOT saving!) as I found it really helps keep you awake and focused...now im all tense in GTA III tho...(did it in Vice)

Yep. It's a glitch. I had it once. I couldn't get the one on the southern-most ship in Vice Port.

Sorry, but if you want it you're going to have to start a new game. I don't recall hearing about any techniques to get rid of this glitch. Maybe Spuds or KM might have an idea, but I don't think so. This glitch, I believe, is inescapable.

Still, wait for KM's or Spuds' comments on this.

I'm not convinced about the can't-get-100% thing and cheats, just like I'm not convinced about the so called unique jump glitch. The first time I completed Vice City 100% I had used health cheats to fix my bike while stunting before I'd got all 100 packages. I think that some of the people out there are just missing the 45 at the shooting range thing (the most common missing thing from 99% games) and all sorts of rumours about Rockstar making the game impossible to complete if you cheat have gone around the 'net. I don't believe it.

Are you using a map or guide to find the hidden packages? Some of the the maps out there are useless because they have hidden packages really out of place and don't indicate if they're inside buildings, on top of buildings, etc.

Get a good guide that describes in good detail every single package. Even better is if you can get a guide with screenshots of every single package. It'll be a long slog, but go through every single one in the order in the guide you use and make sure you're checking exactly where the guide describes or shows. I bet you'll come across your missing package eventually.

KM.

According to the following GameFaq guide, you do not need to do deliver Securicars to the cracking garage to get 100%

Grand Theft Auto III Guide

However, the same guide does say that if you use the Riot cheat, it can screw up your chances of getting 100%. There are cheats in the game that Rockstar don't approve of using and could screw up your gamefile and prevent you getting 100%. The same may apply to Vice City, so you may be screwed PublicSecrecy.

EDIT: However, I'd still go get a good packages guide and go through the whole thing slowly and check every single location to see if you can get the missins package.

I agree with KM on the cheating/100% thing-- as far as hidden packages I agree that you are likely missing one and just haven't found it yet....

that being said, I've read that if you have the missing jump glitch (once again I don't believe it exists) that if you do the following it will repair your save...so this might work if there is a missing hidden package glitch-- it only takes a few minutes so you might as well do this before you go hunting again.

Powerdown your PS2. Remove your memory card. Restart your PS2. Let VC load and start a new game--supposedly this resets everything (you may have read of highest vigilante level not resetting in VC, or the purple nines glitch in GTAIII--its similar to this--if it exists). Click through the opening cut scenes and when the game starts--pause. Insert your memory card, and then load your "corrupt" save...thats it--resave it and if then you are good to go.

Another way to see if you are looking in the wrong spot for packages is to start a new game and start collecting them. Mark them off your guide or map or whatever you are using and if you come to one where its not where you looked before--look harder for it.

You can get to the 2nd island early via lots of ways (one of them is illustrated in a clip on the gta clips thread--link in my sig) and get the police helicopter right from the start to speed up your search--it shouldn't take you more then about 90 minutes to go through the list-- anyway, thats how I found the last 2 I was missing--I was just looking in the wrong spots each time I came to them in my list and assumed I'd already found them.

The 2 I was missing--
1. the one behind Phils place on the pier-- I always approached this one from the east and its behind the piling on the pier so I couldn't see it-- you can see it if approaching from the south or ocean side.

2. the one right behind the Malibu-- I never saw that "tiny" lot behind the Malibu-- I assumed the meant the bigger one right next to it.

I had the glitch. I can confirm this glitch. I went back and checked through EVERY package using a guide TWICE. I knew which one I didn't have before hand, as I was using a guide that time, too.

Also, thanks KM for clearing the Securicar thing up properly.

I thought I had the glitch too--until I found the 2 I was missing-- I went through my list alot more then 2 times. I went through it so many times, at the time I could recite from memory where nearly all of them were-- I could do it in my head

I'm not saying it doesn't exist-- but its never happened to me. Since I haven't seen it. So I cannot confirm nor deny its existence.

Don't take it personally-- if my wife said she had the glitch, I wouldn't believe her either unless I verified it myself (and I trust her completely), so don't think I'm calling you a liar.

Now the guy on GTAforums, that claimed he found 108 packages-- I called him a Liar....

I tend not to believe anything in the game until I do it or see it--- one of the reasons I did superjumping, the flatbed spin jump, cone crazy money trick, etc...

Hahaha. That's why I hate GTA Specific Forums: too many people lie about things to stand out. One of the reasons I left NeoSeeker.

I'm usually like that, but when it comes to here, I will accept verifications from the more senior members, like you, KM, Famine, Blake, etc.

Also, I don't take it as offensive or personal, don't worry. I never do. The thing with the Cone Crazy from before was very misinterpreted. That was my fault because I was wording things wrong.

But still, I like to provide input. I do believe it exists, I think Blake was with me one of the times I re-searched the whole map.

Iam also the same, if i dont belive i do like to check it for my self, though i havent tryed the superjump or the conecrazy moving cones as i cant be bothered and i belive members here that it exists. I would say im an expereiced vice city player so i pretty much know if someone is lying or not.

Yeah, I think that once you have played enough of the game you realise what's plausable and what isn't.

Now the guy on GTAforums, that claimed he found 108 packages-- I called him a Liar....

It is actually possible to get more than 100 packages on the PC version. Thjough you can't get more than 200 (you can make the game think you've got all 100 but they'll still be out there, then you pick those up, unless my math is incorrect...100+100=200).

Supposedly you can do the same thing with Gameshark (on PS2) too-- but he claimed he hadn't-- just that he had "over looked" for hidden packages and found 8 more...

Small_Fryz

I would say that I know the trustworthy people in this Forum, so I would know if one of the trustworthy people on the Forum say something can happen, I would probably believe them. Unless it is far out information. Then I would check.

What Blake said is correct. It's easy just by changing some of the Data. It is also possible on Gameshark. Even further, you can "find" as many Hidden Packages as you want by editing what shows up on the Stats screen, but that is very difficult. You would have to change a few lines of coding.

But what the guy you're talking about is saying, Spuds, is impossible. Even if it glitched, it would only give you 1 extra package, not a whole 8. But I don't think there is a glitch like it. One word regarding that guy: Gameshark.

Yeah, there is only one thing I can say about that person: his pants are on fire....

As per request from Shannon, I have bullet-pointed to make the Checklist look neater.

Also, would anyone like to find or create a GTA: London 1969 or GTA 2 100% Checklist?

Blake, could you please finish off GTA 1?

Thanks.
