Alright drifting around here has been pretty dead IMO. Open lobbies still suck as usual. So I'm going to start hosting a grassroots lounge for some good clean relaxed drifting. No highend competition cars just daily drivers and weekend beaters, a give or take 410 hp limit and comfort hards. Just come chill out have some fun and maybe share some knowledge. Got some different tracks then tskuba or autum ring. Free for suggestions too but I want basically just street cars and such. Film and photos may also join.

Time usually 6 - 7 pm PST till whenever usually 10 cause I have to wake early during the week.
PSN Rovered78 add me if you like but I'll be
Hosting it open for the first while to get it out there.

I'll probs host tonight too but I'll try my best to make it a regular occurrence

Takes a while to get these things going OP so don't give up too early. I just started drifting on the weekend after 5 games in the series and 4 months with this one...lol. I tried briefly but the screetching and whining my DFGT did made me think it wasn't a good idea, so on the weekend I hooked up the DS3 and gave her a spin. Took some work but I got a bit of a handle on it, although I won't be winning any contests anytime soon.

Any suggestions on a good starter car for drifting? I have only really tried the AEM S2000 and that worked pretty well for me, detuned to around 280 hp using a set up I found here. Any other suggestions?

I guess I should look this stuff up before I get a warning from a moderator...lol

If you find 410hp too low learn to drift honestly.

Areyou saying i cant drift?
Im just saying i like a bit of power to fiddle with,
I like drifting cars like the s13 and ae86 ss but for serious cars, ie rx7, 350z i like between 500-600 hp.
I drifted the z4 m coupe maxed out but i couldnt really drift it because theres a big lack of torque because of no turbo or supercharger, and its weight would come into it.
I just usually max a car out then limit the hp to what i want. Like the viper srt-10, got 930 hp out of it but have it around 800. Exept for tracks like cape ring, then i open the taps

If you're using cars with around 600 HP and then use a 405 HP S13 after a long time, it feels like 10x slower . That doesnt mean someone cant drift lol.
I love my S13 and 180SX Type X ( my first two drift cars ). 405 and 447 HP. I nearly never use them anymore because doing more advanced stuff and for that I need more HP. Think about Cape Ring, Nurburgring etcetera. Also for a backwards entry I prefer more HP because the S13 responds slow after going backwards. I just used my S13, its a wonderfull car. I love it.

Lower HP cars are good perfect for Tsukuba, Suzuka and autumn ring ( mini ) etcetera. I use both, but because I can do the basic stuff and small tracks, I'm trying long linkable tracks. You will see in my montage soon.

( BTW dont think I think im the best or something lmao, I'm just saying )

I'll join you all once in a while as well, so I can give my first cars some love again.

I haven't said you can't drift but saying 410hp is low made me wonder about it.

180hp is low, 400 is not.

As for higher powered cars with 580hp and a good setup you can drift almost all the tracks (including cape ring north).

I know but i have a stiff enough setup for my cars, because I like to battle and a stiff setup is faster.
Working on a setup for the s13, and i have to say its turning out pretty good. :) but it depends on the weight aswel. I couldnt use the z4 for tracks with long corners. Not that it hasnt enough power but it has prettymuch no torque, which is a big factor in drifting.

Z4 coupe cabrio is my current main drifting car, its great, u just have to learn to drift with it. And learn to change toe according to the track.

I think the same but nothing is impossible :), it just requires more concentration and car control.

Yes, I finally did that giant ring. Its damn hard with DS3 lol. My friends who are good with a wheel say thats easier with a steering wheel.

Good god, I practised so much on it lmao. I also entered the 1st corner backwards xD.

I cant imagine how it would be easier with a wheel lol, but congradulations. I'm yet to drift that ring, but I've probably spent less than 5 minutes trying so take that for what its worth. 👍

I would have said the same thing but I guess with a wheel you can hold a angle of counter steer.

Its a bit easier with wheel if u have 900 degrees, the sensitivity of the turning is alot more variable than with a simple small stick u have with DS3 :D
