GSR - Mobil 1 Porsche Super Cup - need test drivers and accepting sign ups

Tuesday nights

This series is meant to pay tribute to the Official Porsche Supercup racing series.

A tribute series to honor the Official Porsche Supercup series which is raced worldwide in many different regions of the world. This series will utilize the 2016 Porsche 911 (991) GT3 RS. Sadly, the actual Porsche Supercup car is not available which is a big reason why tuning will be allowed. In the actual series transmission ratios are locked in and every driver in the series has to live with those settings. Unfortunately, PD does not give us the option to lock those settings in a private lobby while still allowing drivers to set up their suspensions (bump, rebound, toe and camber) as they see fit. Therefor...

Tuning will be allowed. - I will not bother to Police people's transmission settings. (I will post all of my settings for drivers to use and adjust as they see fit.) DISCLAIMER - I am not an expert tuner. Actually, I am just returning to GT after many years driving other racing titles. My set up is a general baseline for you to use as a reference for your own purposes.

ABS will be allowed. - This car has poor brakes, to say the least, be prepared for long braking distances. Especially on cold tires.

TCS and ASM are not allowed.

Race Day Schedule

Every Tuesday Night (EST)
Friends Only Room Note: To reduce chaos
Room Opens for Practice at 8:00pm EST
Race 1 - 9:00pm (30 minute Race)
Race 2 - 9:40pm (30 minute Race)

Race rooms will be friends only to keep room chaos to a minimum. If you are not my friend on PSN and are interested in this series. Please a friend request to me -PSN ID = GentlemanRacing.

Official Race Schedule - TBD

6 Race Event Series, two 20 minute Sprint Races.

Race Sessions. ,
*Tracks - TBD
*2 heats - 20 minutes each
*Track Time - TBD

Car Regulations, Tire Restrictions, Driving Aids Allowed

*2016 Porsche 911 GT3 RS - please upgrade the car to have full weight reduction and reduce the power output to 441 bhp (from the stock 491 bhp). The car should now show as an N400 rated car. The power reduction may throw some of you off a bit. It is also true that it is not in keeping with the actual cars power output but this is a minor concession to keep the series viable for a wide variety of skill levels. Both races will be set to "fastest in front" so the faster participants will be off to the races anyway. With my mediocre driving talents the car is posting lap times similar to a Gr. 4 race car. (roughly)

*ASM and TCS not allowed - the power reduction helps make the car very manageable.

*Tuning Allowed

*Racing Hard Tires only.

RULES FOR CUSTOM LIVERIES:

All cars must display a custom livery. I have prepared several (enough to fill a lobby) liveries in tribute to the Porsche Supercut and they will be made available from my in game profile. There will only be 1 car per design allowed. If you wish to reserve any of my liveries just post up here, They will be assigned on a 1st come 1st serve basis.

I have will be meticulously preparring several liveries with a very specific template in mind. As we are trying to pay tribute to the actual series I have studied there official series guidelines with regard to sponsor locations on the car and added very small flourishes to recognize PD and GT Planet.

GT Sport Supercup Template:

*Michelin is the only official tire manufacturer of the series and Mobil 1 is the official lubricant sponsor. Please use Michelin and Mobile 1 for custom livery if you choose to design your own. Also, all participants are asked to adhere to the following rules:

- No Alcohol Sponsorship
- No Tobacco Sponsorship
- No Foul Language
- No Pornographic Material
- No Political or Religious Material
- Car numbers will be Assigned Automatically

Race Format

Race

*Rolling Start 100ft
*Set by previous race

Race Seeting

*No Boost
*Grip and Slipstream Real
*Visible Damage On
*Damage - light? (more testing needed)
*Fuel Usage - TBD
*Tire Wear - TBD
*Note: I have no intention of forcing pit stops as the official Porsche Supercup does not require them. The races are sprint format but I do intend to run several practice lobbies to test tire wear so that the drivers experience some change in car behavior/performance.

Penalties

*Yellow Flags On (Note: There will be no full course yellow flags or safety cars)

*Contact Penalties Mild

*Side Contact Penalty Off

*Mild Wall Penalties
*Corner Penalties Off

Ghosts off - races are short sprints so drivers are not likely to get lapped unless they suffer a major incident and are forced to pit. In that instance a driver getting lapped should yield to the lea cars.

Car replacement off

I will be enforcing blue flags in this series. Lapped traffic is a part of sport car endurance racing, however, penalties maybe given to either party. If you wreck the other driver. Note: It's not a good idea to make enemies. If your the one about to be lapped and your NOT battling for position - Please let the lead driver(s) go in a safe manner. If your the one doing the lapping. Remember they may not be fighting you for position BUT they maybe fighting others around them.

How come you did not go with the Porsche Cayman Clubsport Gr.4, it resembles the Porsche Supercup cars more IMO..

If you reconsider, I'm all in!.:):gtplanet:

It may resemble the Super up car in appearance since its the same manufacturer but the cars are very different in driving dynamic. The Supercup car is a Rear engined flat six. The Cayman is Mid engined. Very different.

Love the Porsche cup ! No entrants ?

Cayman Gr4 would also be brilliant.

No entrants. The car is a handful for some and requires tuning and a delicate touch. I would definitely still run the series but we would need at least 6 to 8 drivers to commit. I'll keep you on the list. Follow this thread as I may be revamping the format in the near future.

Are you interested in testing with me and giving some feedback? If so, just let me know your availability and we can get in a lobby.

Thanks for checking this out.👍

I was just talking with @Rinsky and some Dutch friends about this.

There surely would be interest in a Porsche cup. Tuning is not the coolest for most. The 911 is brilliant. I expect more people though if its a Cayman. All Caymans on track with different livery would be brilliant. There seems to be nothing like this and I dont have time to organise myself.

Other option would maybe be to leave the 911 as it is. The car drivers brilliant. But only with most aids off of course.

I would advice a short championship and a minimum of 8 drivers to start this of. These weeks all testing and deciding what to do which day which time and then starting of the calender somewhere mid september ?

The main problem is that I think such a series would do best in a European timezone with European drivers. I think there are a lot of Dutch and German Porsche lovers who would participate as well as UK and Italy and Spain. And of course other lovers.

Unfortunately you are in US so that will be the biggest problem for me and others. Would there be a solution in there for you ? I think I can arrange 5 guys for this myself only. Maybe you can arrange some and Rinsky some and we have about 12 drivers for this ? This surely would attract more drivers and could lead up to a full grid.

I am always up for helping out and testing and giving my opinion. Even if I cannot join because of the time difference. Just add me on PSN with same nick as here.

Between all the Europeans and North American drivers, would this series work best in the North American afternoon/European Evening?

I am 7 hours ahead of you and for now there would not be a problem with next Tuesday:D, did you think about using Cayman Gr.4 instead of 911 ?.

Maybe more people seem to be asking for Cayman instead of the 911. Would you be able to consider changing if you would find more people are willing to join ?

To me both Porsches are just perfect and fun to drive.

I know. I get it. Let me work on it a bit and come up with something. It's just too bad folks aren't willing to try something different. Buy, hey, it is what it is.

It's also too bad we have a lot of EU people interested. I'm not used to that problem and usually anything I've been a part of was from 8pm EST or later. That works for everyone in the US because it's at night and most work day shifts or those with families can go to their man cave by that point in the night :)

Tuesday is literally the only day you have available for a new series right?

I have never seen a Cayman cup yet. So I dont agree. But a 911 cup also not of course. I think both cars could be competitive so maybe you can even combine them somehow and people can chose ?

Hi, I co-run a racing league Series, we are planning to run a Porsche SuperCup Championship by the end of this year. Would you like to merge with us? Look us up on YT- TFRL. Thanks!

Sunday 8am events work best for me and would open up the Euro players to participating. Tuesday night was the original time slot but there are too many other events and it's not conducive to recruitment of drivers in the Euro time zone. PM me for more info.

Sunday 8AM EST you mean ? For me that would be more than oke. It would mean 13:00 London time. That would be really perfect for a lot of EU drivers I think.

Yes, exactly. 8am EST is what I was thinking. For some reason, I think a series like this appeals more to you Euro guys. Lol

No offense to anyone.

You made your decision for the N500 ? I fully support that, think it would be just brilliant seeing all them on track. And there is enough gr 3/4 Racing going on. Although no Porsche only cup.

Lets just get more people in. Do you think we will be starting end of september or somewhere in oktober ? When do you think you will start registration ?
