New Forza hitting the market soon. How will PD respond? This Forza is basically what a lot of us GTers have been talking about for a while. It also has me really wishing I had a 360 friendly wheel, or that Microsoft would just support the G27.

So what does everyone think? Will PD have anything to follow them up? Hope they have been preparing GT 6 to battle Forza, because right now it's not looking too promising.

Really don't need another thread as said above. You can find the other thread here, which covers the current games that are out.

Also, Horizon isn't due until October so not even worth the discussion.

Forza: Horizon isn't competing with Gran Turismo 5, it's competing with Test Drive: Unlimited 2.

You like Forza? You play Forza.
You like GT5? You play GT5.
You like Battlefield? You play Battlefield.
You like MW2? You play MW2.

Lots of games out there which look alike.
This game has better this, that game has better that...
Play wathever makes you happy and see what GT brings in the feature:)

Just thought I'd see what others thought, considering a lot of members here like the idea of a city roam feature, and now Forza is the one to do it.

I guess I don't care about a FM vs. GT thread. This is more of a specialized thread on whether we think GT might try (or should) a similar style of game with their Driving Simulator. I know I would love it if they did, because I was excited about TDU2 until I found out what a piece of trash it was. This isn't about the physics or any of the typical FM vs. GT topics, but more so the future of GT and FM as competing racing sims.

I also wouldn't consider TDU2 competition to this game, because TDU2 really isn't much of a game (more like a forgotten beta) and wouldn't put up any competition.

So please, no more wannabe mods. I guess if you don't see a point to the thread, just don't post and let it die...

Well, sorry for the "wannabe mod" approach I guess. Not really aiming to be a mod in the first place, but the way you presented your topic gave off the impression that it was going to be about Forza and Gran Turismo and who has the better gaming aspects and the like. So yeah, just wanted to say 'hey, ya know we've got such a topic and I don't want you be met with some unexpected lock or whatever so it was merely a heads-up if I may say. :)

the only problem with that is that 2 are multi plat 2 are console exclusive.

Forza doesn't eat into G5s sale and vice versa... unless you won 2 consoles that is.

So it goes like this: Own a ps3? you'll have GT5 already
have a 360? you'll have forza already might be planning to get the new one

What PD needs to hire is the Genki people who made the Tokyo Xtreme Racer series. Has anyone seen the one on the xbox 360, with all those tuning parts? They'll be also helpful with mountain and city races as well. 👍

On topic. NO! Forza Horizon is different and being made by a different developer. Dan said it himself, its a *ACTION* racing. So no to this GT vs FH thank you...

Not comparable imho. I do not think Forza Horizon will remain a racing simulator and is heading more for an arcade type of racing game. Judging by the trailer.

How will PD respond? By continuing to support GT5 and working on their next game. Though it isn't a response so much as what they would do anyway.

Exactly this I'd imagine.

When one considers all of the updates and how far GT5 has come since it was first released; it's a major leap forward for PD.

People keep asking for features and sometime they are implemented. It's the likes of genuine GT fans that appreciate what PD do behind the scenes.

GT5 vs. A game which hasn't even been released yet...

Really? How can anyone POSSIBLY know?

May as well have "GT5 vs. Diablo 4"
Since Horizons won't even be in the same class as GT5, from the little I've heard.

There are obviously releasing this to get us pissed off that PD hasn't made GT6 with free-roam and a livery editor and all premium cars and the ability to fly rainbow unicorns in space.
Seriously though, since T10 aren't making it, it could be weird, and since it resembles something EA would do with NFS, I'm a bit worried.

Forza Horizon wont even be a "simulation".
They say its Forza's simulation algorithyms tuned for "off road" ... Mark my words, shopping cart Test Drive physics.

PD doesn't need a response. Horizon is nothing special.

Amazing the conclusions people come to without even playing a game.

I'm also certain that if PD have revealed a similar game it would be hailed as revolutionary, amazing etc.

If PD were to do a free-roam, at least we know it would have great physics. I'm still not familiar enough with Forza physics to say much, especially since I haven't played it with a wheel.

I wish PD would have been the one to announce such a game. It would be a lot of fun if done correctly. Then to get to tracks, you would just go to the airport and you would go to the track of your choice if it is not in the free-roam city. They could probably do that with all the real-life tracks. Then with the made-up tracks, they could incorporate them into the layout of the city/countryside. So it would be like a big city of petrol heads and a bunch of race tracks.

I would rather they waited till next gen to tackle such a game. I can see that giving the game huge potential.

I also brought this up, because we have been in a calm when it comes to content and DLC additions to GT. There has been two updates (one surprise update and a small emergency update), but we really haven't heard anything about what is going on for some time now.

If this isn't the quiet before the storm(as in they have something big planned in the near future), then they need to get off their asses and get us some content or announce GT6.

Forza Horizons may not be in direct competition with GT5, but I know I'll want to play it. If I didn't already have a PS3 and was trying to decide between getting one or a box, Forza would probably have me leaning to the box. Constant flow of DLC (with great cars variety) and another game scheduled for release in the near future, that's what is going to catch someones attention.

Those kind of things vary between forums and people. Of course not all are like that, I think you're jumping to conclusions now. ;)

Locked

We already have a GT5 Free roam discussion and a GT vs FM general and physics discussion.

As such this one (which was also beginning its own little flame-bait collection) is not required.
