GT 5 way too hard for novices

I feel that GT 5 is way too hard.
Some of the challengers are that hard that you just give up.
The cars cannot be modified, and you just have no hope to advance.

I feel I am not too bad, and yes in the past I spent days and nights trying to advance.
But I think GT5 is way tooooooooooooo hard.
I am struggling on the Turisimo Grand Tour with the Alfa going down the Eiger Nordwand Track.
I have tried over 100 times, and I am just unable to get the minimum time, I am always about 1 second out.
I feel I have done the perfect time, but no hope.
The Top Gear test track challenge with the Kombie vans is another one that is way too hard.

Its frustrating.

all cars can be modified
if it is that hard, turn on some assists.
Still hard? Take some license tests, or use practice mode.
Still stressed? take a break from the game.

The best idea is too analyze your technique and read up on proper techniques in the license test. Maybe your going to fast into a corner and understeer, then having to brake to correct yourself when you should brake along a straight then enter the corner. Its the small things that count and it will shave off those valuable tenth of a second of your lap times.

Honestly, if you can't get even a bronze in every challenge/license of the game (and a bronze is all you need to advance), then you need to improve your skills a lot.

The, the challenges are fairly challenging (I guess it meets prupose :). I have a DS3, so its extra hard. Anyways, give your self every advantage. If you can, get a wheel, it helps shaving times.

Imo GT5 is nbot that hard, maybe not the easiest GT, but imo it's easier than GT45 Certainly the licences are easier than in GT4. The challenges can be tough, but I want to be tested, bot that I can win everything without doing anything..
The top gear race with the vans is super easy, and the Alfa on Eiger is a tough one, but it's good that there are some real tests in-game/

Just look how easy the Van-race is: I won it with more than 7 secs in front!

An here's my Eiger lap 1:16.574:

The secret to challenges is learning the pattern. They're basically a bunch of big driving puzzles. Watching videos online should help you figure it out. Get the patern, and with some practice most should fall.

But notice if the challenges were easier, a lot of guys wouldn't have a challenge at all and the game would've been dumped for being too easy.
I cannot get the S Loeb Chamonix challenge @ gold atm. I'm at a 1:16.7xx But I get some sleep now, and I'll try tomorrow again. that's the challenge I like. Dreaming about how you should take a specific bend in specific conditions and try-out what you just dreamt..

Also some challenges are way too easy..
Like AMG Challenge with the SL300 in the wet:
I made it almost 30 secs below gold time with several small mistakes, and one huge one..

I actually think the Alfa challenge on Eiger Nordwand is pretty much perfect. It separates the wheat from the chaff so to say... And what's wrong with that?

I find if I'm struggling with something, I leave it for a few days, and go back to it for another crack.

I finally completed IA10 license test that way...I acknowledge that's probably not an overly tough challenge for most people, but everytime I tried it, something would go wrong.

I've come to realise I'm really quite bad at the game lol

I think of all licence tests S8 is the hardest, than S4 and IC10.

The game is hard. But not TOO hard. I'm not all that good but I can do bronzes, a fair amount of silvers and some golds in license tests and I manage to gold most events so far. I've also found that if you keep racing and go back to challenges / license tests later it's all of a sudden way easier. Yesterday I golded a bunch of licenses that seemed completely impossible 2 weeks ago.

Just keep going, keep practicing. I have to say the progression you make when you do that is very rewarding.

I would rate myself as a decent gt player and i found the S. Loeb challenge a breeze. The Eiger and Alfa challenge is decently hard (I got bronze).
Oh and by the way, skid recovery really helps for the rally challenges (no TCS though)

I only use ABS @ 1, simply cause the brake pedal feels weird in GT5.. Half way = full brake.. And TBH I want to make everything without the other aids:sly:

It should be a challenge, which it is for the most part. I sure as hell didn't spend all the wait for it just to finish in a week or 2. The point I'd like to put forward is this; when I first played GT4 I just passed enough licenses to race and gain cars, after completing most of the races i went back to gain my golds on the tests and special missions, all in all, years of play. I imagine that I'll do the same with GT5.

In the past, I did a blog post and a video about what can be done to make GT5 easier for novices. I can speak as a Gran Turismo veteran- the one thing I've always feared was racing rear-wheel drive cars. I have only played the GT5 kiosk demo. All I can say is- keep trying and keep practicing. You can't make yourself a better Gran Turismo racer if you don't practice and improve your skill in real time. Give yourself a chance and never give up.

I haven't played the full GT5 and don't have a PS3, so I am just going on basic advice to help you out here. Just keep practicing your skill and never give up.

Take off TCS and ASM for the Eiger Norwand Grand Tour event, if you use them you'll lose way too much time not being able to floor it out the corners.

Top Gear Test Track is pretty easy when you get to know the AI opponents scripted moves. Again, like above, take off TCS and ASM for that little bit more speed which will make things easier.

True, at least TCS often slows you down.I dunno what ASM does, but I got it turned off.

Heh! Funny! I've had the same thing for many, many years in many racing games. Just never understood how to keep these cars on the road. The first time RWD cars 'clicked' for me was in Forza 3 and now I just love them. Thing is most of the fastest cars happen to be rear wheel drive so I'm glad I finally got it. And... I drive a RWD car in real life too now :D

I feel the opposite. GT4 was hard for me. GT5 has definitely hit a sweet spot in difficulty for me... and account to that that I am a little bit older since the older GT series.

Active Stability Management (ASM) automatically applies the cars brakes when a car begins to skid to stop it spinning out and point it in the right direction, as opposed to Traction Control which reduces power to the wheels until they stop spinning. When both are turned on it makes for a very slow cornering car.

If anything most of the events in the game are to easy. It is pretty easy to get bronze on most of the events some make take a few tries for the novice but that is how you get better. The races themselves are pretty easy with only a few that are very demanding all of which occur in expert and extreme areas.

You should not expect to just ace everything in the game if you can then the game is to easy. No satisfaction comes from smoking the opponent in every race. The treat is when you have to drive your but off and fail a few times to eek out a win.

You've answered your own question. It should be hard for novices otherwise it will have zero replay value. They're called novices for a reason ;)

if you're having a preblem with getting bronzes in the game, then you need to return the game and buy need for speed.

Not really, it's easy when people like us have been playing GT games for years but people have to start somewhere and there's no shame in struggling a bit when you first start playing. All it takes is time and practice to better understand a game, then you improve.

but imo it's easier than GT45

I saw you once driving
