My GT 7 game [PS 4]continues to 'flicker and goes light and dark' constantly on ALL menus and pages including The World Map.. no other games, including the latest F one game, do it at all.

i have looked at the FAQ on this about resetting the screen setting on the PS etc but nothing with fix it.. its almost unplayable like this.

Thanks.

My version of the game (PS5) paints weird dots onto my cars when I modify them using the livery editor. Apparently it's to do with the GPU of my PS5 though, not the game, even though I don't have this problem with any other games. I would guess that the flickering is indicative of a problem with your PS4, which GT7 is pushing to its limits.

i would think the latest F one game would be pushing it too but yes maybe, PS-4 is not modern enough anymore?

When I bought the PS5 version, it came with the PS4 version included. When I run the PS4 version on my PS4, there's no flickering. There's also no dots painted onto my cars when I use the livery editor. Something about GT7 seems to make use of both PS4 and PS5 in ways other games don't, uncovering a weakness in some consoles. I thought my PS5 was fine - it runs every other game fine - but it has this unique problem with GT7. My PS4 does not have the same problem as yours running GT7, so I suspect your console is the problem. If you can, maybe try logging into your account on a different PS4 and see what happens. That way you could confirm whether it's your specific PS4 console that is the problem.

Would start with game reinstall, sounds more software issue.
Also if you use rest mode, restart console.
Should power off frequently.

Im 99% sure you wont. Fairly sure the game data is saved online.
You 100% won't. I already went through all this before replying to the original question. With my 'dots' problem (GT7 PS5 version), I deleted the game and its saves from my PS5. I then reinstalled the game and all my cars were still there. The only way I could get a 'clean' new game, starting again from the beginning, was to create a new PSN profile and launch the game on that. Neither the reinstall nor the new save data had any effect when it came to curing the 'dots' - they were still there.
TBH I've now reinstalled the game 3 times and the 'dots' still appear on my cars (GT7 PS5 version) when I paint them in the livery editor.
Regarding the flickering, try googling it. There are some notes about the screen settings for your PS4 which might help. However, I still think it's a GPU issue and no amount of reinstalling the game will help. It'll just waste hours of your time for nothing. By all means try it if you don't think I'm right.
I didn't want to believe there was a fundamental problem with my PS5 regarding the dots, but no one else has this same issue - just me. And as I said, the PS4 version of GT7 runs fine, no flickering at all, on my PS4 console.

Could you share a pic of the dots?
No pressure.

I know its most likely ur console (GPU) but have you tried firmware reinstall?
Be good to test every option, might save you drama in the future.

I started a couple of threads on it a while back - search the forum by 'weird dots' and they're the top two hits. You can then see pics of the weird dots that appear whenever I alter the appearance of any car in GT7 (it's not just repainting in the livery editor - if I give a car the 'wide body' modification, the dots show up then too).
Firmware reinstall was discussed as an option but I'm not willing to go to quite that extreme just so I can correctly alter the appearance of assets in one game. Every other game works fine!
Also, I have a workaround - I installed the PS4 version of GT7 on my PS5 (I now have it installed on both my PS5 and my PS4) and whenever I feel like I want to repaint something, I just boot that version up instead and the livery editor works fine.
If I get any other problems on GT7 or any other game, I'll reconsider the firmware reinstall.

I had this issue on PS5 it was on the WTC700 @ circuit de La sarthe on the track as it was drying.

Most likely a bug with the way surface reflections are calculated.

I've not noticed the flickering in the menu's but I have noticed that the course/barriers/trees will turn black all of a sudden and flicker back/forth for a few seconds, like the textures are losing their color or something. Mostly noticed it on Sarthe, but I've spent almost all my time on Sarthe since 1.11 so it may be doing it everywhere. Never saw this glitch before 1.11
