Nissan and PlayStation will be staging a GT Academy themed challenge in the paddock area, featuring the new GT5 Academy Edition video game. The attending GT Academy National Finalists will be invited to take part in a time trial contest, with the best time winning a pair of Grid Walk passes for the British GT race.

Very cool! This is only for the UK & Ireland national finalists?

I will be attending hopefully. Very kind of Nissan and Sony for the invite and thanks for giving the heads up Lee.

Sweet! Hopefully most people can make it!
And yeh, Nissan and Sony have excelled them self through out this years GT academy! Really are a good bunch of guys at jardine international!

Nice to get the invite, but not for me this time, haven't played since the finals, so wouldn't be up to speed anyway, still disheartened about finishing 7th really but looking forward to next year.

Yeh don't worry bout the gt comp, that will pretty much be for fun! It will be an amazing day.. Jann racing.. Formula 3.. Loads more I would imagine!

Hey Guys,

Whos heading there this weekend then?? I know Ghost and me are going, I'm bringing Wolfsting as well (Best mate IRL who also plays GT5 if you have ever seen any of my race videos).

Going to be majorly rusty as haven't played since with moving house, might have a couple of hours this week at some point.

Lets hope for a good result for the GTR!

Would love to go but can't afford the flights and travel expenses. Should be a good reunion for those of you who make it.

Well... I'll be there again...

O nice one, cya there famine :D! Although this time if we get a flood I call shotgun ok :D?

I'm going to have a little practice tonight, but what do you think it could be? Would it be with the new GTR race car? Or a 370z?
I think I'll do some laps of nurburgring gp, Suzuka and spa.. And ill use a 370z, a GT academy tuned 370z and kas,s n24 GTR race car incase they use the new one!

Good to see both lee and Jambo there. Lee caned me in the paddock all-comers competition, though I think I was top six when I left (I got them to put me on the leaderboard as Famine  ).

I had a play with the Academy Edition over at Brooklands - John Hindhaugh of Radio Le Mans and I were basically fighting over tenths around the 'Ring GP/F. We called it a draw in the end - I was about a second slower than him to the Schumacher S and about a second faster to the end of the lap

Ahh shame i missed you there famine!!

Well overall the day was amazing, much kudos to Nissan and everyone for the invite :), was nice seeing people again!! Ashame with the result in GT3 but still seeing Jann race was amazing, and happy birthday as well!!! Was nice seeing wolfgang and the rest to, good luck from Tuesday :D!

The first competition was pretty good although came second in that, I sort of messed up the last turn so ruined lap 1/2 and just prepp'd for a good 3rd! Gz shane on that one :D! The second competition, I had a quick go and put in a 1:00.2 but I wanted a 59, unfortunatly my last 3 laps weren't the best as I was pushing hard so ended up with a .1 with each lap combined probably bringing me into that but it wasn't to be, so ended up with a 1:00.1 was pretty funny hearing everyone cheer/clap and everything :)!

There was a second competition? Didn't know about that.

Anyway about first one, I was not expecting to do well knowing that I would have to drive on the one with broken wheel. I only noticed it was broken when the persion that went before me was about to drive as the wheel was quite a bit to the right to go straight. Don't know how bad it was for Shane but good job if he did that time with the wheel also to the right. The person in charge of the pod turned PS3 off and back on again to recalibrate wheel for my go and I think I was the last person. Anyway it calibrated sort of straight, started first lap and it was going OK, did a 1:02.0XX which I thought was quite good compared to others first laps and I knew I also lost quite a bit of time in some corners due to running wide and slow on power.

Second lap started and it was going quite well, nearly half a second up half way through lap and lots of time to gain on last half until wheel started breaking more and more. I could feel something like snapping in the wheel and did it about four times in the second half of lap and wheel sort of lost centre and could really go only left and right which made the straight a fight as holding right was not enough to go straight. Lost a lot of time in the final sector due to it and only managed to improve by 0.0XX to 1:01.9XX and second lap was messed up in first corner as the wheel had already became a bit undrivable due to it being hard to go even straight due to needing to go left and right to do so. It was still a fun experience though to drive a wheel getting progressively worse during a lap ;).

I tried at home for curiosity reasons after watching F1 highlights, with force feedback on lowest and same settings regarding car and on first lap did a time that would have been enough to win but I know that most of us would have been able to do that.

Just saw Jann's twitter and saw a retweet and looks like there was a Nissan Thrill Day Driving Experience up for grabs for fastest time, didn't know about that, anyone know who won, Shane? Happy Birthday Jann although a day late, I guess you must like your birthday present from Nissan ;). Good to meet some of the people from GT Academy finals too. 👍 to Nissan for the invite and Jardine International for arranging it.

The British GT race was looking good at the start going to 2nd early on but sort of went backwards from there on in and I think I heard a few penalties but overall, still in the hunt for championship I believe and at least went a step forward in race from qualifying position. Good luck to Jann, Alex and Team RJN for the last round at Donington Park at end of month 👍.

I'm sort of hoping nobody bobbed on after me haha as it was well past 5pm :), I was top at the time with a 1:00.1 with next fastest being Mikeeb1200 (Glenn), on a 1:00.509. I did tease Glenn with that as well I sent him a facebook message saying .511 (Which was my final lap) :P, then travelled all the way back home before revealing :D!

Was it the same combo at the same place and were you allowed only another three laps? I was going to come back to the paddock to try and have a go with the working wheel for curiosity reasons after the F3 race but my brother wanted to go home. I would have gone down definately if I knew that was up for grabs. Enjoy the experience if you are the winner 👍, Glenn must be gutted after the .511 tease :sly:.
