There was a second competition? Didn't know about that.
Anyway about first one, I was not expecting to do well knowing that I would have to drive on the one with broken wheel. I only noticed it was broken when the persion that went before me was about to drive as the wheel was quite a bit to the right to go straight. Don't know how bad it was for Shane but good job if he did that time with the wheel also to the right. The person in charge of the pod turned PS3 off and back on again to recalibrate wheel for my go and I think I was the last person. Anyway it calibrated sort of straight, started first lap and it was going OK, did a 1:02.0XX which I thought was quite good compared to others first laps and I knew I also lost quite a bit of time in some corners due to running wide and slow on power.
Second lap started and it was going quite well, nearly half a second up half way through lap and lots of time to gain on last half until wheel started breaking more and more. I could feel something like snapping in the wheel and did it about four times in the second half of lap and wheel sort of lost centre and could really go only left and right which made the straight a fight as holding right was not enough to go straight. Lost a lot of time in the final sector due to it and only managed to improve by 0.0XX to 1:01.9XX and second lap was messed up in first corner as the wheel had already became a bit undrivable due to it being hard to go even straight due to needing to go left and right to do so. It was still a fun experience though to drive a wheel getting progressively worse during a lap
.
I tried at home for curiosity reasons after watching F1 highlights, with force feedback on lowest and same settings regarding car and on first lap did a time that would have been enough to win but I know that most of us would have been able to do that.
Just saw Jann's twitter and saw a retweet and looks like there was a Nissan Thrill Day Driving Experience up for grabs for fastest time, didn't know about that, anyone know who won, Shane? Happy Birthday Jann although a day late, I guess you must like your birthday present from Nissan
. Good to meet some of the people from GT Academy finals too. 👍 to Nissan for the invite and Jardine International for arranging it.
The British GT race was looking good at the start going to 2nd early on but sort of went backwards from there on in and I think I heard a few penalties but overall, still in the hunt for championship I believe and at least went a step forward in race from qualifying position. Good luck to Jann, Alex and Team RJN for the last round at Donington Park at end of month 👍.
