GT academy for the birds!

Can you find this somewhere? I find it hard to believe they created a special event with custom physics.... The physics of the driving is the same for the game, you can tweak the "driving options" to make it "easier" or "harder" but I would find it hard to believe they adjusted the physics...makes zero sense.

I've read claims on this forum that times recorded online differ from times recorded offline. However, the differences are fairly subtle. I think what people are having issue with is that they have't played Gran Turismo (or any other racing game for that matter) without skid recovery or ASM turned ON.

That would make sense.

I will only make one comment here because my reply is partially fueled by my own rage of not being able to match even my own times on GT academy at any track. BUT....the physics model is too inconsistent. IRL you dont modulate the brakes that much, you brake at maximum power to slow down and you let off mabybe a little lightly, but none of this half braking crap, thats called being slow. Full brake or on throttle.

But the most annoying this is the physics at tsukuba. I've driven a Z IRL and its not the power monster this level makes you think it is. I was TRYING to make it drift and it doesnt have the power to hold a decent slide. It definitely does not roast the tires at will in 2nd gear as this game would have you believe. And unless you put literally plastic tires on it, it will grip and handle better than this POS.

MAJOR props to those of you who can make it work, but there is nothing more gutting than to be on the percieved limit of adhesion only to have the ghost blow by at 5-10mph more in the same constant radius corner.

-rant over- ...

Wow. So many crybabies.....

The 370z is fine the way it is on the game. Most of the people complaining haven't EVEN driven the car in real life. Much less pushed it to the limit on a track.

Stop complaining. If you want to apply full throttle even when turning go back to NFS games.

really? Have you ever driven one in real life? I dont think so because you would see why there are complaints about it. Maybe if the track was covered in ice it might behave like that.

But it's the same for everyone, quit the whining and drive like you've got a bee under the bonnet.

Dont get me wrong I was not whining. I was simply stating that the car does not react like that in real life and I even said in the initial post that most of my anger is out of not being able to match the speed of others.

I have nothing but respect for the ones, like you, who can overcome the plastic tires and make it work. Im still frustrated by it though =o)

I can understand your complaint with the plastic tires and all. But I think it was the promoter's way of implementing low grip situations without relying on weather to create it.

What sense does that make if there is weather in the game?

I think all three TTs are very fun. Tsukuba is a little weird because you have to drive like an idiot to get a good time, Rome reverse is super challenging, and Cape Ring in the Tuned 370Z is fast enough and has enough grip to make any arcade racer happy.

A perfect blend of precision and intesity. 👍

Oh, the North East is freakin stacked!
What do you mean by that? I've been tackling Tsukuba for a while and I haven't been able to break past 1:06:xxx by conventional means, if at all.

So after a few hot laps on the first track, I put up a score around 500 running just around 1:10. After driving the car, what a joke! Don't see this being fun:indiff: I mean the car's on ice, slow as can be. What a drag!:grumpy:

A drag? How many games give you the oppertunity to become a real life race car driver? Im having fun with it. You just need to practice ALLOT
