This thread was initially going to be the main thread for the entire Silverstone showdown but we've now decided to create a separate thread for each day of the 5 day boot camp and bring you all the latest news from Silverstone as it comes in. This thread will now become the general discussion area for the Silverstone boot camp as a whole. Therefore, please use the daily threads to comment on events as they are happening and leave this area for more general questions, comments, opinions and of course sending messages of encouragement and good luck wishes to your favourite drivers.

Below is a confirmed list of boot camp participants. You will notice that there are now only 18 drivers instead of the expected 19 attending Silverstone. This is unfortunately due to the French runner-up, Ti-tech85 (Arnaud Lacombe) withdrawing from the competition and the news that the third and fourth placements in the French National Finals are also unable to attend. For whatever reason, this now means that France are now down to one driver.

Boot Camp Participants:

Zocker16_GTRP (Steffen Christein)
German GT Academy National Champion.
Wearing the GTRP (Gran Turismo Racing Point) tag, Steffen was placed 2nd in the German Time Trials with an overall time of 03:23.302

GTRP_Gantenbein (Christian Giere)
German GT Academy National Runner-up.
Wearing the GTRP (Gran Turismo Racing Point) tag, Christian was placed 6th in the German Time Trials with an overall time of 03:23.625

earthquaker (Robert Wawrsyniak)
Austrian GT Academy National Champion.
Wearing no tag (quick, snap him up!), Robert was placed 8th in the Austrian Time Trials with an overall time of 03:25.288

DarkEnergyForce (Daniel Collins)
Republic of Ireland GT Academy National Champion.
Again no tag (what's going on!) Daniel was placed 4th in the Irish Time Trials with an overall time of 03:24.888

Giagua (Luca Lorenzini)
Italian GT Academy National Champion.
Luca, (tired of the tag gag) was placed 12th in the Italian Time Trial with an overall time of 03:23.773

gioboy (Giacomo Cunial)
Italian GT Academy National Runner-up.
Giacomo was placed 15th i in the Time Trial with an overall time of 03:23.879

Oenta (Jeroen Kesselring)
Dutch GT Academy National Champion.
Jeroen was placed 4th in the Dutch Time Trial with an overall time of 03'23.737

Hunter_4_6 (Filipe Barreto)
Portuguese GT Academy National Champion.
Filipe was placed 10th in the Portuguese Time Trial with an overall time of 03:24.787

Ocer_Fl (Marko Moisio)
Nordic GT Academy National Champion.
Marko carrying the Finnish tag to Silverstone was placed 3rd in the Nordic Time Trial with an overall time of 3'23.314.

MakaayX (Marco Calvo)
Spanish GT Academy National Champion.
Marco, the champion of Spain was placed 19th in the Spanish Time Trial with an overall time of 03'23.520

GTro_rootbe (Roberto Otero)
Spanish GT Academy National Runner-up.
Roberto, carrying the tag of the IFTC Champions was placed 1st in the Spanish Time Trial with an amazing time of 03'22.962.

GT_driver_BMW (Jordan Tresson)
French GT Academy National Champion.
GT_driver_BMW was one of my earliest PSN contacts so I remember him well. Jordan, (meaning 'God' in these parts) was placed 13th in the French Time Trials with an overall time of 03'23.579.

GTP_DHolland (Dan Holland)
Australian GT Academy National Champion.
If you're not aware of who Dan is then you must have a life outside of GT, unlike some of us poor souls. Dan was placed 1st in the Australian Time Trial with an overall time of 03'23.092. An interesting point about Dan is how quickly he manages to achieve his limit and is certainly one to follow (if you can keep up) at boot camp.

TIZZLAA (Tony Autridge)
New Zealand GT Academy National Champion.
Tony no tag Autridge (grrrr! ;)) was placed 7th in the Kiwi Time Trial with an overall time of 03'24.888. I remember racing Tony a number of times. Very fast and consistent with his abilities on the track.

GTNDC_czsimo (Oliver Simon)
Switzerland GT Academy National Champion.
Oliver was placed 6th in the Swiss Time Trials with an overall time of 03'24.752. Hearing that a fellow GTNDC (GT Network Drivers Club) driver becoming a GT Academy National Champion was music to my ears. Spent many hours, days and weeks with GTNDC chasing the coveted BC (Board Challenge) championships, and winning it I might add. Congratulations, Oliver.

GTP_Prudent Bear (John Moorby)
United Kingdom GT Academy National Champion.
John was placed 4th in the UK Time Trials with an overall time of 03'23.469. Together with Dan Holland, Alex Ingram and Stijn Wackenier, John is also a member of the GTP_Registry. In fact he is a division one gold member of the registry. No mean feat, I can assure you.

GTP_Ingram (Alex Ingram)
United Kingdom GT Academy National Runner-up.
Alex was placed 14th in the UK Time Trial with an overall time of 03.23.489. What can I say about Alex. A bit of a dark horse that tends to keep close to the shadows I think, but certainly not a rank outsider by any means, he proved that at the nationals. One to keep an eye on at boot camp. :)

GTP_Racer_LP (Stijn Wackenier)(Withdrawn due to illness)
Belgium GT Academy National Champion.
Last but certainly not least, we have Stijn from Belguim. Stijn was placed 2nd in the Belgium Time Trial with an overall time of 00:03:24. A very fast and consistent driver. I've raced, or should I say 'chased' Stijn on many occasions (slipstream is a beautiful thing when you're slower) and has proved himself to be a gentleman driver.

I've just recieved a confirmed attendance list (late yesterday) and he's on it.

Open for business. :)

I've still got some things to add to the first post but there are other things I need to get on with first.

Feel free to discuss.

Good luck to everyone competing at Silverstone, especially all the GTPlanet members with an extra special big up for John Moorby and Alex Ingram   :gtpflag:

I dream of being able to take part in an experience like this so I'm beyond jealous. It's no doubt going to be extremely difficult and stressful but it will also be one of the best things you ever do, just remember to enjoy it and pace yourselves, it's going to be a looong 5 days :D

Hi everyone, First post here! Settling in here in our hotel near Silverstone. Heading for a briefing and dinner soon. I have a twitter page setup http://twitter.com/GTACollins which I'll try to keep updated during the GT Academy.
Thanks Daniel.
Welcome to GTP, Daniel.

We wish you all the best at the boot camp. 👍

Be sure to post a few comments here for us too. :) 👍

Best of luck to all the Silverstone finalists, particularly the GTP crew 👍👍

Don't put so much pressure on yourselves that you forget to enjoy the experience ;)

It's on gt5rs.com, the article says that 2nd place 'Popoline' recieved a phone call to ask if he could go to Silverstone as replacement for Stijn:

Thanks for that, Manuelos.

I won't change anything just yet. I'll wait to hear from the organisers.

Lacombe would probably have been the favourite to win. Good luck to all ! Even though im not there im still very excited. I'll be checking here for news:tup:

I've just noticed that the information about the Spanish champion MakaayX is not correct. He was 19th in the time trial 👍

Yep, it's true :( :banghead: :yuck:.

I wasn't feeling very well wednesday evening, but I thought the nerves were just coming and hoped it would be ok in the morning.
When I got up, I started getting ready to leave for the airport and had breakfast, but I couldn't keep that in for very long and I was thinking 'no, this can't be happening'.

In the end I had to contact the organisation for GT Academy to tell them I wasn't able to go. They called me around noon asking if I was feeling any better so I could still go, but I just couldn't keep any food in :(. Even now I can only have some soup if I wanna keep it in, so this is more than just nerves :ouch:

Sorry I didn't bring you guys the news sooner, but I was feeling too ill and too disappointed.
I hope Popo will do good at Silverstone. Best of luck to him 👍

So sorry to hear that, Stijn. :banghead: :(

Such bad timing. Hope you get well soon. 👍

Chin up, mate. 👍

Really sorry to hear that :( Can't believe that needed to happen to a finalist! :( :(

Get well soon Stjin 👍

Hi all

Mrs PrudentBear here, I've joined the forum temporarily to pass on any juicy gossip to you from John at Silverstone. Good luck to all the participants! I hope a GTPer wins it!

Apparently they got a big holdall full of very nice kit when they arrived - black Alpinestars racesuits with their names and country flags on, boots, gloves, helmet, balaclavas, T-shirts, caps, jackets, etc and they get to take it all home with them at the end, what a great souvenir.

Lots of media around until Saturday, so the pressure is on immediately. In the UK, the TV series is going to be shown on Channel 4.

Will post what I know about the media day today on the other thread.
