GT Racing - GT1, GT3, Blancpain Endurance Series & National GT SeriesSports Cars

It was parked for 10 hours. Now it's a rolling road block.
Part of endurance racing is just making it to the flag. All the blood, sweat, and tears that have gone into getting that car prepared for the race, and then repairing the broken gearbox and getting it back out to finish the race deserves to be celebrated. I'm sorry if you don't get that.

Chiyo was hauling ass there, but you know SVG was just cruising so he made it more interesting than it really needed to be.

Oh I get it, it was still a rolling road block no matter how you look at it.

SVG was pretty much in Cruise Mode at the end, so it wasn't really that intense.

As someone who isn't a fan of Nissan (especially the GT-R), I'm glad that Mclaren won  but I'm also a fan of SVG so I am happy that he won. I will give Chiyo credit though, that guy is amazing when he needs to be.

Was confused where the timing line was because it did look like the GT-R passed SVG but I figured then that he already got by it.

The timing line is one of those odd ones where it's behind where the cars start. It's basically straight after Murray's Corner.

Had there been one more lap or if the Nissan had lapped each lap a fraction of a second faster, then I think they definitely would have caught up. Amazing race.

The start line is ahead of the finish line so that the whole grid can fit on the main straight.

Probably not. SVG was cruising, he would have picked up the pace if Chiyo got too close.

One more lap wouldn't have really changed much, as it just means that SVG would slow down a lap later. He obviously had let off a lot on the last lap.

Good race in all. I missed a few hours because of work but I still got through most it. Waking 5:30 was worth it!

What a race!! Congrats to Techno on the win, and to SVG for braking the lap records. Hat's off to the Nissan team for their effort and to Chiyo-San for his never say die attitude 👍

I agree, after these last two weekends, '16 is shaping up to be a spectacular year for GT racing :D

Well, continue to tune in to Australian GT. New cars added and the grid is bigger than ever. On to the Clipsal 500 one month from now.

Remember that near the end of the race, SVG pretty much knew he was going to win and played it safe. If the race was longer he would've pushed harder until he knew he was going to win at Cruise Speed. So nearly the same result.

I think the series needs to find a way to stand on its own. So long as it's a support series to V8 Supercars, its potential is going to be limited. Of course, if it strikes out on its own, it's got to find a way to draw audiences. Eastern Creek and Phillip Island are probably the only two venues that could really host independent events, and maybe that new circuit in South Australia once it's done. I suppose Sandown could as well, but I don't know what the pit facilities are like.

The series' best bet would be to strike a deal with V8 Supercars to run half and half - half of their events in support of V8 Supercars, and half on their own.
