GT SEC #3 - Stock One-Make GT300!Full

I've seen 1:06.8.... Definitely not me, but I did see it:)

edit, Whoops, thought you had a faster lap Rob... guess i didn't see it.
Wickedly fast times guys, well done.

Ok, i'll have to do my best effort to improve that time no matter what! xD
I did my lap time on the second lap, and then i couldn't improve it in 45 min of practice.
I was looking forward for a 2:07.0 or 2:06.9, at my best, but 2:06.8 is sick!!!

Azbay is mistaken. I think your 7.4 is fastest so far. Even if someone did do a high 6 it would be 1 lap in 100 so not that worrying really.
Nice time Rob! Maybe the 370z fiasco wasn't a fluke after all ;)

---
Wow, still throwing the 370Z back in my face huh. I blame the muppets who spec'd it  Anyway, I seem to remember doing a reasonable job in the Vette/Miata mashup at Laguna?

And Fabian's time is probably ABS off. I know he loves the extra 'man points' for doing that.

Lol Touche' Rob.

Did some fuel mileage testing last night too. Gonna be interesting :)

Btw Fabian messaged me and said he might go to the beach instead of race. Let's all ridicule him publicly until he confirms he'll be there this weekend :)

No going to the Beach allowed, especially as I'm buried under a foot of fresh snow here in Chicago.

Welcome Zayn as our newest driver! That brings the field to a total of 13, so three spots are left open.

Season starts in two days!

Had a bunch of guys on tonight, was finally able to get my time down. Ran a PB of 2:08.008. Sooooo close to a 7.....

Hope you guys have your strategies figured out! 3 Stops? 4 Stops? 5 Stops? No stops? Start on Softs or Hards?

Can't wait :)

It has come to my attention that the "Improve Chassis Rigidity" feature does not preclude you from entering a Tuning-Prohibited race.

Because it's impossible to police, I will make it optional. You can run the improved rigidity if you want, but you don't have to.

I don't plan on adding it to mine....

Hey Bill,

you remember we spoke about the pit stop/tyre bug stuffs the other day?
Well i was quite chill about it cause i supposed you guys tested & didnt notice anythink...
Actually the problem exist & is there: really nobody notice the grip level & the fuel consumption change after pitting for 1st time??

I ve spent some time practicing, i ve reached a steady pace before looking for these things, so im quite sure of what im speaking about & i would like that you guys take a looke after so that everybody can be aware of the situation.

Before testing the pit stop / tyre bug i take about 150-160 laps of practice...always the same procedure:
- entering the track, make a stint of about 9-10 laps, stop & check for fuel consumption. Then exit the track & restart...

Results: - Best lap : 2'07"367 SM (just a lucky 1) / - average fuel cons : ~ 8.8 l/lap

I ve done also some double stint and my pace already went pretty messy, also fuel consumption went up...but i thought it was just lack of concentration. Anyway is giving me the doubt and the need to check it with a little test.

Wich i ve just finish:

- entering the track with SH to check the performance and wear of the compound (so i can finally set a strategy lol) before pitting.
- went to pit after 11 laps and put a set of SM tyres on...well i struggled to get a time below the 09" range...rear tyres wear out much quicker...and the fronts slower (maybe just because there is less "rear push");
- i never get the right amount of fuel even if had all the time to do the "math" before restarting;
- pitted other 4 times with the same results for every stint.

Results: -Best lap : 2'08"846 SM (could be a 08"6, but still...) / -average fuel cons: ~ 9.8 l/lap

Right after, with no break in between i just exit the track, re enter, and at the second lap i was on the 08" flat, third lap 07"8...so there is definetily a bug...

(btw no weather change and track always reseted at 14.00 for every session)

I dont know if this happen also during the race, happen for everybody in the same way & in the same time...i really have no idea, what im sure about is that the race itself can easily be compromised by that. And the risk that the competition is not at the same level for everybody is quite high (how can we check a bug?).

I will take part at the race today, but what do you think?

This bug is a known issue, it is the same for everyone..basically any set of tyres after your first set, be it from hards to hards or softs to softs the second set will be around a second slower..For the best total race time you should always be quicker starting on the softer compound because if you were to start on hards then go to softs your soft pace is gonna be off by around a second a lap..not only that but the rears will also wear quicker..its a bit of a pain in the ass but should be the same for all.

This could explain why my SH pace was so bad in testing. I always started on SM and then pitted for SH. I think there's going to be a lot of weird/random stuff which happens during the race.

But I don't know how you're getting ~8.8L/lap consumption Frank?!? That's over 10% less than what I've been getting; 9.8/9.9L/lap. To save a laps worth of fuel in only 10 laps is quite surprising.

Glad you notice the issue & you think we can live with .
Hope so , still is very 🤬. lol

:@:Rob i get this fuel cons just on the firsts stints...after pitting i cant go lower than 9.7 :scared:.

Thanks for testing Frank. Good to have some definitive data.

It does sound like it's the same for everybody though. Nobody noticed any major issues at Fuji, so let's race this weekend and if the race gers screwed by a glitch then we can re evaluate.

Btw, 160 laps of testing? Fml I'm in trouble.... :)

See you guys in a few hours!

Dont worry m8...with my pot head ill not have a decent pace even with 1000 laps lol.
Im really not looking for firsts places, especially with ABS 0...my tyre use / strategy simply sucks!
So the target for firsts races will be too improve the pace!

To quote someone famous, "Well that ****in' sucks!" - W. Fisher, 2013

Part of me thinks it coincided with lots of people pitting at the end of lap 9 and the associated lag spikes? I dunno. I was on my way round nice and easy for one last lap before pitting and BOOM! Gone :( Oh well, had fun up until then. Hopefully have better luck next week

What an epic race! So fast and so clean. I feel like I race wheel to wheel with everybody at least a few laps in the race. Was awesome the way you never knew what strategy people were on and how it was gonna shake out. I led for at least half the race, but people on other strategies were making time on me and I didn't know. Finally when Barrett caught me before I'd even stopped for Hards, I knew I couldn't win. Great race by all though. Nice win Barrett!

Gutted about the disconnections! Such a shame. Rob, Jason and Frank all had a shot to win this one but got dropped at random times. Next week hopefully nobody gets dropped and Fabian returns so we can have an even more epic finish. Brands Hatch is the best track ever too :)

BTW, Wanderlust, I believe you can take the title as king of poor fuel mileage :) Seems like ever race you run out. Sucks too, we were having a good race :)

Also, my car needed Chassis Maintanence @ a cost of $250k. Ouch! If you ran the practice race a few weeks ago, you may need to do that also.

Well done Barrett. Yeah, pretty gutted I couldn't stay connected. Was plenty of racing left to be done.

Be nice to hear what people's strategies were since I don't have a replay to watch. I was gonna 4 stop.

Barrett, Zayn and Jones did 3 stop.

4 for the rest of us.

I got screwed so bad by weather. I was planning to run hards from lap 26 through lap 30. As soon as I put them on, it started raining. The car got super twitchy in the wet and I was running 2:15 laps. Finnaly it dried out just as it was time to go back to softs.

Ok. I forgot rain was a possibility. I never actually had a plan for that. I guess you can't really until it happens. Nobody ran out of fuel though at least? That's always cruel.

I would say I'm looking forward to next week, but I'm not. Brands really doesn't suit me. I'll be happy to just finish there without having a massive off. Or I'll be happy just to finish.

Great 3rd Chris! And newcomer Zayn for 2nd.

Wander ran out of fuel on the back straight. Lap 25 I think.

---

I dont think we had any issues with penalties, but please submit any complaints asap.

thought I had fuel figured out. pitted on lap 31 for a final time. however, the fueling stopped way short and I had to come back in. I was already way behind so lost nothing position wise just a good lesson to pay closer attention. great race though I had a blast!

Wow, that was fun! Congratulations Barret, nice win. Awesome race to the end Bill, not sure how I caught you.
Thanks Rob, so sorry you guys got dropped. I feel your pain, it took me a week to get over Fuji... And mr jones,
thank you for letting me through, impeccable craft as always.

Great racing everyone, can't wait till Brands.... cheers!

Yea you caught me like I was standing still. My only thought is my chassis had deteriorated so bad..... Not sure? Good job either way :)

I've got to say, after watching some of the replay I am so impressed with the pace people were able to maintain on old tires. After 7 laps I began to struggle mightily on mediums losing seconds a lap and dragging tires off track and oversteering exiting corners. I had to come in on lap 35 and after the stop, on fresh tires, I was still losing a lot of time to Barrett at each sector. Amazing!! Great job everyone! I need to get more comfortable on worn tires to compete. Hope I can fare better at Brands.

Thanks for all the congrats guys, classy field here đź‘Ť

The qualifying race and my first two stints in the feature about wore me out! After doing some fuel testing with Bill earlier in the week I figured I'd start on Hards and go for the 3 stop.

I started 8th for the qualifying race and got a really good start. I had to hustle the crap out of my car, Whitey and Glen-Alz were all over me and I did my best to try and keep them behind for a better grid position for the feature race. A lot of hard racing and contact but I managed to keep them both at bay.

I had no idea how my strategy was going to play out in the race, I didn't think I had the pace and my first two stints I ended up in some epic battles. Lap 13 and 14 I ended up in a 3 car battle for 3rd I believe, going 3 wide multiple times.

My last 2 stints I got some breathing room and was finally able to get into a rhythm and started clicking off what felt like really solid quick laps. It's a shame the guys at the front got disco'd, I don't think the win would have come too easily if at all.

Looking forward to next week already, Brands is going to be a lot harder to find passing opportunities. Should be a very intense race :)

BTW Bill, if you're putting a season compilation video together for this season you should grab some footage from the battle I was talking about on laps 13 and 14. It was a hell of a scrap.

P.S. I apologize for not knowing everyone's real names yet, I'll get there.

Definitely! I'm hoping I get a chance to review most of the replay this week. I think everyone had their share of crazy intense battles.

I agree though, I think any of the three guys who got disconnected could have been up there racing you for the win. Such a shame. Can't wait for Brands!

Looked at some of the replay. A ton of great racing!

Azbay had 8 on tires and I was struggling home with 5/6 rear tires. Hence passing me like I'm standing still. Great job! Clearly I need a better strategy if I want a podium at Brands.
