yes, always have to keep on mind the Beta isnt really representive for the final game.
Correct me if I'm wrong but this temporary damage was already an option in a previous GT title. GT5 or GT6, can't remember.

yeah cause we all know the retail version will be so much different :D

Yes Yamauchi also said that the Beta was being created as stand alone, and you wont find the menu or anything else in the final game which is from there . even the intro music was made for the beta.

Main purpose is to tweak gameplay, ratings and Online functionality

In other words things like drivers rating,damage,penalties,BoP...(some examples)

I had few races already with this update and while the damage implementation is not for purists it adds another layer of fun to the races.

Here's what happened to me for example.

I was first on Dragon. Hit the chicane wall, damage to the engine and suspension. I putt the blinkers on, move aside and drive slowly losing 5 positions.

After a while the damage resets and my car is fine and I'm starting to gain on cars in front. 4 laps to go and I'm in 3rd place.

Last lap I overtake the 2nd place car which hits me in the back, we both goes off but he is driving very slowly losing several positions - probably took engine damage during the hit. (if he was giving place it would be just me)

Suspension damage consists of car steering left or right.

Engine damage means less power, erratic revs.

No audiovisual effects. (or I haven't noticed)

Stronger the hit, more severe these effects and I believe longer they last.

Tire wear is accelerated and towards the end of the race I had to brake earlier for corners.

So, similar to GT5 I'd say, right?

Would be nice if all the regions were running on the same version of the beta, the European one sounds worse than the American one, especially since the races are scheduled for the time most people are just getting home from work.

Good they're adding damage, fuel, and tire wear with the update.

I don't like the damage resetting on track. Crash your car, a forced pit should be the result to fix the damage.
Yes, if someone else wrecks you, a forced pit should be the result.

Maybe that is because the races are usually 5-10 minutes. So a forced pit would be a little too much to recover from in such a short period of time.

I'm guessing you'll be able to set it up in your lobby whichever way you want in the release version of the game. This is just the beta version used for testing.

Add a DQ for that driver (for all daily races) and I am fine with that.

So far, so good. We'll see how everything turns out after few more tweaks.

I just hope the new penalty system for collisions won't affect innocent drivers.
Too late... There were two cars in front of me. The first car brake checked the second one which led to me bumping into the second car (was too quick to react). The game gave me a 20 sec penalty. I just quit the race tbh..

How hard the impact was? And did the driver in front of you received a penalty as well?

Either way, 20 sec penalty is insane. :boggled:

20 seconds:odd::eek:?. This reminds me, I do hope there is some kind of tracking on % of races quit and that you can set up a threshold in your lobby. No offense but one of the most annoying things about racing online is people who quit races. You start out with a good size field and 5 laps later you have 5 people left running. It should be incentivized in some way to have people finish races.

Penalties are not working properly either way.I am watching 1.08 streams.I see people cutting track in almost every corner (4 wheels outside the white line),hitting people from behind and still getting zero penalties and positive DR ratings.

This wouldn't be necessary if the AI could take control over the car whose driver decided to quit.

It should happen (add to that a downgrade to both DR and SR too) if the game wants to be serious "esport" game. ;)
They also want people playing the game. Without being able to determine fault, a lot of players could be unjustly banished from playing which would make for a very angry and unsatisfied player base.

True but if that were possible, I'd still like to see tracking of race quitting because an AI opponent won't put up the same battle as a human and I'd like to be able to keep people out of my lobbies that have high race quit %'s.

Well if the cannot determine fault, that means they cannot put any kind of "penalty"system in the game to start with. Why should I play a game that gives me penalties because people put me off track, use me as their breaks in corners (just some examples)?
And how the game is giving DR and SR ratings if the system cannot tell who is clean and who is not?Whats the point of driver rating or penalties if that system cannot actually do the job its supposed to do?

No tracks updated? In terms of racing atmosphere, I hope a lot of work is done in Poly's studio. I know this is not the point of the beta but the comparison is not good next to other racing games.

It "shouldn't" give you a penalty for someone pushing you off the track, that's a weakness of a no-fault penalty system and not being able to accurately assign fault. Why would you compound that by banning people who want to race, for an entire day?

Because people use the "problems" of the said system to actually race dirty, gain advantage and still get positive DR and SR ratings.
Really,I've seen a lot of "clean and fast" drivers being the exact opposite and getting rewarded because of system not being able to work as it should.
So either make it work or dont put it in the game.Thats my point mate.

Mechanical damages in that state is unacceptable. I hope it just a glimpse and final damage system will be much more complex. Auto-reparing is a joke. Honestly, what are we doing here, racing or filming "Christine"?

I think its just that mate.Surely they are not going to have an "auto drive fix" when the game is out..
