Just saw this thread the other day. Probably one of biggest things I'm looking forward to.

I'd be willing to bet that the livery editor will be implimented similarly to the the NASCAR games produced by Eutechnyx were: shapes and logos with a brush creator. An image importer is a possibility, but I'm not expecting it. Worst comes to worst, a steady hand and an eye for detail can counter that pretty easily, with a bit of time and patience.

Haven't been in a paint booth since NASCAR '14. Really getting the itch to paint something again.

Why are we able to use the livery editor yet?:confused::confused:
It's just a beta, as mentioned there are other things in priority right now. As the information given in the beta said, they're stresstesting the servers and it is important to join in when the daily races go live. I don't mind, as the livery editor is the feature I look forward to the most. If I got to play around with it now I'd mostly get semi-tired of it when the game came out. Which is why I don't mind waiting. :D

Hopefully, there won't be too many restrictions on what kinds of liveries we can make. For example, throwback liveries like Marlboro or Martini. What is PD's stance on political liveries? If there are trucks in GTS, I'm making a "TRUMP Wall Building Co." livery to see how many times I'll get rammed off track. :D

I'm afraid of making any predictions on livery editor, because reality can hit so hard. Everything we saw so far looks very positive and even finished/almost done. But I even still can't be sure livery editor will be available at start, just like track editor. And the fact that we haven't seen it since May definitely doesn't help. PD made me paranoid

Also, while the Livery Editor menu option was featured in all demo builds (of course it was unavailable), it isn't in GT Sport. However, all the other menu options are. Also kinda weird.

Hahaha yep that should do it.

I feel like it will be a few simple sponsor stickers that they managed to get licenses for and some basic shapes/stripes.

The course maker in GT6 was underwhelming, I reckon the "livery editor" will be too.

That is not what Kaz said

He clearly states you can create your own stickers/decals here

The course maker in GT6 was underwhelming if you didn't have an android device and a computer. If you did have access to that stuff it was basically a hot-wheels play set.

As for the livery editor, I remember in the trailer the options to select decals all had "user sticker" or something like that on them.

Yeah I thought about mentioning it. Maybe they removed it to polish it up and reveil it at a later stage, like the TPE. We'll see. If they removed it for good I'm going to be mad.

I believe everyone should lower their expectations with the livery editor.
I myself have been "hyped" since i first saw it in the trailer,
but just like the Course Maker for GT6, we might end up with something completely different.

That being said, if PD would release some kind of Android app for editing car liveries, that could
bring up many possibilities for modding.

Not really, you still couldn't edit terrain, track decorations were very limited, all you could do was draw out the track, which albiet was a step-up from the GT5 CM, but it still fell short in my views.

User stickers? Sounds promising, but as this is PD I think we've all learnt to not get too hyped up.

To those fans of WipEout here in :gtplanet: who are also going to get GT Sport, and those interested in designing liveries inspired by and based on the WipEout teams, I think designing detailed WipEout-based Group 3 GT race cars would sound like a really great idea, especially with AG Systems using either the GT-R GT3 or the Group 3 Vette, and F.E.I.S.A.R. using the Ferrari 458 Italia GT3 (well, because F.E.I.S.A.R. and Ferrari are a perfect combination). Basically this could be based off of the upcoming "Omega Collection" so we can also add Van-Uber to the mix.

Any fans of WipEout here that are interested?

Oh and I hope we can design liveries based on any car (not only limited to garage cars owned), in which once we save or download the livery, it's saved for that particular car and can even be used as a separate livery option for use in Arcade Mode (even if it's a rental car).

Have we anything new to share about the Livery Editor of GTS? It seems that PD is locking it out while the beta is running..

Hope they've continued working on it, because I remember when they showed us the Livery Editor feature for GT6.. And you knw the rest of the story.

We can still stay on these facts from the official GT website : http://www.gran-turismo.com/us/products/gtsport/preorder/
It's noticed they will integrate some liveries into differents GT editions... So IMO it could be more feasible to see livery editor in GT Sport than in past games..

Otherwise the packs are differents between regions, in france there is more packs for example :
http://www.gran-turismo.com/fr/products/gtsport/preorder/

Livery Sticker Pack (EN) = Packs d'autocollants de livrée (FR)

Thanks! Do you think we'll have the opportunity to check it on the beta?

I don't expect too much freedom with the livery editor, tbh.

Essentially, I think it will work like this:

1) Pick one of the Polyphony "premade" default livery's for your car.

2) Have the ability to move / reshape / add / remove only the decals from the "premade" default livery that you selected.

E.g. If you choose the default "Gulf" livery for your Porsche, you can edit/move only the decals that are included in the Gulf livery. You won't be able to add a "Shell" logo onto your "Gulf" car, or add the Ford logo onto your Porsche, for example.

That's my cynical view anyway.

That said, I think we'll have access to bonus or add-on livery packs with generic shapes/designs (flames!) that will be accessible across all or most of our cars.

Depending on how powerful it is, this will be the part of the game I spend the most time with. I can't wait to make a GTP livery like I did with the previous Forza games, I really hope the system ends up being robust. We shall see, excited either way to finally have it in a GT game.
