I spent quite some time during the last days gathering very interesting data. There's a bit of work to put than online in a proper shape, so in the meantime, here's a glimpse:

GT Sport players of the final game (as of 1st December): 1.903 Millions
(that basically equals the number of games sold and started. Some christmas early gift sales wouldn't be included yet. we can assume multi-account swap ratio is very low)

GT Sport Demo players who also played the final game: 44 %

Players (of the final game) who played in Sport Mode: 34 %

Sport Mode players distribution by Driving Rank:
E 56%
D 33%
C 7%
B 4%
A < 1%
S < 1%

That is very interesting to say the least. I assume this is worldwide not region specific. Look forward to seeing the final data - would it be feasible to show SR breakdown too.

BTW I think 1.06 changed some of the data including gear ratios and summary ratings. I'd kept a note of the Mazda Roadster ratings and acceleratuon, braking and cornering had all gone up by 0.5 to 0.6 pts. Also seen recent references in tuning threads that gear ratios had changed.

Ps now I don't feel so bad at being a D rated driver in Sport as only 13% are above D....not necessary what you'd infer from the threads on this 'specialist' site...

Under the hood,
1. the game is using a score for both DR and SR.
2. Driver Points start at 1 and can go above 35000
3. Manner Points starts at 50 and can go from 1 to 99
4. The DR (E to S) mostly reflects the Driver Points, BUT i learnt that the Manner Points can also influence the DR (in a limited way, though). I'm still digging into this.
5. The game also store a Driver Points Up Rate but i don't know how it's used, just that some low SR ranked players tend to have very high value here.

I'm looking for DR S profiles, if you are a S player or have one among your friends, could you share the profile page from gran-turismo.com ? (it requires a connection with your PSN)

@Turbo Racer 48, you can give me your profile link for more details ;)

I think you and @Famine should be talking....sounds like between you both you will crack it.

Re profile post happy to but not sure what you mean..do you want me to post to you from my profile page in PS4

The profile are taken into consideration regardless of their region, indeed.

What you say is also true for the SR rank. I saw a lot of people assuming that S is very common, but the results i give below show otherwise:
| Range | SR | % of Players|
| 80-99 | S | 4 |
| 65-79 | A | 3 |
| 40-64 | B | 55 |
| 20-39 | C | 29 |
| 10-19 | D | 6 |
| 1-9 | E | 3 |

Only players who played at least one Sport Race are taken into consideration. Range refers to the underlying Manner Point value.

Now... guessing those numbers is not that obvious.
Does someone want to try a guess at the % of players who played at least 10 races in Sport Mode?

Assuming that you are talking about only the players who have competed in Sport mode i.e 34% of the players per your data I'd take a rough estimate that it is between 15 to 20% of those players active in Sport mode.

Hmm, very cool dude! Is there a way to see the data for myself? Because at "S" there is nearly no progession visiable on the bar ^^

Regarding the data from the last 3 days (bar barely moved) i guess the highst may be 99.999 (Just a guess)

Im really a Data-Freak regarding all These MP Data, will look foward for more Infos on your Website :)

Some more data im interested in DR Points :D
[...]
Do you know the bondaries for the Points? I rather have the Points on Display than a letter "Rating"... like in IRacing :)
Thanks :)

1. You reached S rank in November, the 18th with 57142 points, Vs a DR A and 53330 points the day before.
2. Panzerfaust85 has currently 53961 points, but he reached the S rank before returning to A. That was from 27th to 29th of November. He then had 55122 pts or more.
3. Nissman just reached S rank with currently 58344, up from DR A and 49895 the previous day.

The low S boundary seems to be around 55000 points.

Assuming that you are talking about only the players who have competed in Sport mode i.e 34% of the players per your data I'd take a rough estimate that it is between 15 to 20% of those players active in Sport mode.
That were pretty good guesses. Still optimistic, though:
Players (of the final game) who finished at least 10 races in Sport Mode:
11,5 %
12,6 % if we ignored players that started less than 7 days ago.

@SHGTP and @GT6mebe
And here's an estimation of total players (of the final game) per country (only those showing more than 2% ot total) based on existing profiles:
country % | count
US 13,7 | 272,500
Germany 11,2 | 223,500
Great Britain 10,8 | 216,000
Japan 10,5 | 210,500
France 9,3 | 185,000
Italy 5 | 100,500
Spain 4,8 | 96,500
Australia 3,6 | 71,000
Hong Kong 3,3 | 66,500
Netherlands 2,9 | 58,000
Belgium 2,3 | 45,000

Edit: Austria replaced by Australia (!).

@Milouse that is fantastic data to say the least.

So much better to have real data than suppositions or perceptions !

Question if I may is data you could track on a monthly basis given there will be a Christmas effect to come too. Also if we believe that PD have adopted a games as service approach we will see constant new news (already announced car wise up to March 2018).

Given GTS will be around 3+ years at least and historically GT games are long stayers sales wise it would be fascinating to track progress including Sport mode participation and splits of SR/DR.

Re the 12-13% I'm not that surprised.

I"m not convinced personally constantly changing daily races are good for high participation as I think the majority do want to race clean and with busy lives need preparation time etc that just is not there.

I certainly fall into that category as a low D DR & A SR - to date I've done 7 Sport races including 2 Manufacturers Cups. I won't race unless I know the track and car well.

Its interesting that PD have recently used the same one make cars on different tracks daily as if they recognise the need for more than one day to get comfortable with the car let alone the track.

First off, I love what you are doing here, great work! Is there any chance you can give me some info about my profile? Ever since the start of the FIA seasons, I have not been racing in the daily races (where I usually ended up finishing in the top 3 on a regular basis, thus improving my SR). Now in the FIA races, I plan my matching to get in with all of the top guys (S and A ranked), doing this usually causes me to finish between 10th-15th on average, and I've noticed a drop in my SR bar since the start of these events. I'd like to know what information you can gather about this.

Hi Milouse, i know your page since many years. Also i have no idea where you get all these data from i like what you've done there :cheers:
I think i was one of the first DR S drivers in Europe. I lost my rating after two really bad races but i got it back quite fast.
Heres my profile maybe you can tell me something more about my stats :)

Question is that number player that play online ? it look like almost 1.5 millions already. If i do my math right adding all the player.

Hi all,
i've been busy in the last 24h, partly due to Forza 7 update and the setup of the Stats section on KudosPrime. The section already contains 6 tables of Stats, and i plan to add more.

No, i suggest that you look at this statistic ;)
@Johnnypenso You too :P

Probably, but that depends of PD.

I prefer to concentrate on a car and a track too. I didn't feel the lack of track in GT Sport for that reason. I even skipped every race on Alsace since it feels like an Editor track.

SR Points: 99/99 (your lowest in November - considering values at the end of each day - was 92, but you spent most of the time at 99)
Driver Points: 58934 after 270 races

O man i would love to be able to get this DR and SR data myself if possible.
Can you do me ? Im at about 80% trough DR A. I am not the fastest with only 9 poles and 12 wins in 84 races but get top 5 fairly consistent.

Yes, i'll look into a solution for SR Points and Driver Points being accessible at will.
Right now: SR/DR -> 97/47322, but you're usually at 99 in SR, don't pay attention to this 97.

Thank you a lot for all those S profiles!!! :)
Your SR/DR: 81/32923. Indeed, we see you had a bad race, since you were 99 the day before. It's not the first time, as your SR points tend to change quite a lot, moving to mid 60's then back to 99 two more times in November. You dived to 16 during the October demo, before an erratic rise to 99.

It appears that PD is sequentially numbering the users. Profile 1000000 was the lowest number that I could find and profile
3914819 was the highest that I could find (this will be out of date as soon as post this). Assuming every number is assigned to a player this puts the total user base at just over 2.9M. Total sales will be somewhat less due to multiple users on the same copy of the game (families) and multiple accounts for the same user (secondary accounts).

I'm sure somebody out there would be capable of writing a script to automatically go through all the profile pages and extract the data.

****Update****
Within minutes the highest profile number went up to 3914898.

 You just made my day.

Regarding the profiles, their id is indeed sequential (like often), but a not so small share of them are profiles with no data but a PSN name. Hence the discrepancy between the number of profiles i considered (and gave below each stat on K') and the id count.

I'm going back out there.

Awesome dude. I know exactly why i am currently at 97. Last races ive run were the short 4 lap gr4 races at Interlagos. The short duration and nature of the track made people way to divebomb happy resulting in some bad races.

Wow awesome numbers, great skills you have.

Do you have more nation numbers, wonder where Poland Canada and China ranks.

Based on GT6 sales breakdown of Japan and NA. Seems NA numbers are down, Japan was 11% of total sales and NA was 24%. Japan number are inline with % of users, but NA is way down.

Stunning data - look forward to it evolving further especially if the sequential profile numbers allows greater data sampling.

A suggestion if I may On the Stats page might be worth including trophy info too as some of it is quite revealing and complements this data - total number of players who have actively driven (not played) in the game 24 hours of time is around 10%. Likely shows the majority of the players are time constrained.

Thanks.

Thank you very much Milouse! 👍

I had the idea that it could be possible to solve the algorithm behind drivers rank and the FIA-Cup points with the data you have.

Maybe you try out something like this if you have the time:
- Take a sample of a FIA-Race/s:
- Extract the drivers rating points of every player in the lobby
- Note the position at the end of the race
- Note the FIA-Points every driver got for his result

I think the system is based on some kind of ELO-Ranking. If that´s right it should be possible to calculate the formula behind the FIA-Points.
If you think this is possible i´m sure someone can do a FIA-Race and provide you with the data you need. :)

I'm looking for DR S profiles, if you are a S player or have one among your friends, could you share the profile page from gran-turismo.com ? (it requires a connection with your PSN)

@Milouse : Hi! If you still need S players, there's my profile with both ranks in S class: https://www.gran-turismo.com/fr/gtsport/user/profile/1039833/overview I've noticed that since the latest maintenance, my DR class bar jumped from nearly 10% to 20% without doing any Sport/FIA race.

Edit : I'm S rank in DR since 21st November (in case that info can help you somehow)

And thank you for all your work, always appreciated for many years

Here's a solution to display the current underlying DR and SR points at the bottom of any gran-turismo.com profile.

You will drag and drop a button (as a bookmark) to your browser that spit those data under the profile each time you click it (so you don't need to reload the page)
Informations add up with a date on each click so that you can keep track of it (but loose it on page reload/closing).

I tested this only on my Chrome, tell me if that works (or not).

@Milouse : I tested it on Chrome too, and I think it work! :D
