I'm crazy about data analysis, and that means I need data!

A simple implementation might mean sending a record describing date and time, the car, and race result. This could be copy/pasted into a spreadsheet or whatever software you like to use.

When I say I want the car described, I want this in detail. Make, model, year, name, PP, tuning setup, date/time of acquisition (to distinguish multiple instances of the same car), track, laps, overall time, lap times, driver name, color etc.

I think I'd like a record for all participants in the race.

To be frank, I have not thought this through fully, however these are some of my objectives:-

Assess best tunes for cars on certain tracks.
Compare cars.
Measure consistency of lapping speed.
Measure my improvement over time.

• I think you need to define an interface file, csv ? any spreadsheet program can import that.
• Also address that it will be a fire-forget method, else it will cost storage room and they won't provide that. And perhaps fire from participants PS3, so no server space is used, and fire to the host-ps3 to collect the data.
• Last you need a link from PSN to outside world ... community features will provide this perhaps?

Sent from the PS3/4/5, not GT servers. Also logged to the PS3/4/5 in case emails go astray, so that the file can be transferred from there.
Sharing ability would be nice.

I think this is a very useful and easy thing to do. After every race there should be a file with all the lap times from that race that you can access there or e-mail it. All the things you listed plus all the data for the data logger will make it very useful to anyone who wants to improve racing techniques.
And I will repeat what I wrote on the full data logger suggestion, we need multiple lap data logger just like the ones you can buy now.
