So, what kind of time frame do you see for Yamauchi releasing the news on the release date?

...Of course I'm kidding.

It's hard trying to think up a new thread when we all pretty much share the same ideas, even if we don't actually voice them. In any case I'm pondering something that could actually be interesting and hopefully different; with the advent of GT-TV we're given the option to watch automotive-related programs, which are basically just older seasons of such shows, at least they are for now.

What if GT-TV went in a different direction come GT5? I'll borrow something that I devised for my own video game idea; what do you think the attraction factor would be if PD turned GT-TV into something of a real-time theater room? Meaning, what if, for about the sum of $49 or $59 (annually) GT-TV turned into something more than just a recreational effort, how great would it be if we could watch live racing events whether it be Le Mans/ALMS, NASCAR (seeing as such would be fair since it's apart of the game now), D1 Grand Prix, whatever. Offering something similar to DVR functionality enabling you to record the event whether while you watch, or while you play and you'd be able maintain these recordings for as long as PD can maintain distribution rights.

Might sound a bit distracting or even a bit overly-optimistic but imagine a 12-issue documentary - "The History of Gran Turismo."

Adds more of a awe-inspiring experience in my opinion, although it's merely a thought and nothing I'd expect to be apart of the final game, or even something I'd frown at for not being apart of...but think about it.

What do you think?

Surely you can just turn off your PS3, and watch such racing on cable or Sky tv, and not have to pay "$49-£59" dollars more for the privelidge of doing so through a video game?

I don't even fork out the 1 or 2 bucks for the existing GT-TV content.

Point well taken. I only affixed a price in lieu of someone eager to point out: "Well, they wouldn't do this or that for free..."

The general idea was that of enveloping the player in this one experience that not only are you playing the game, but in a sense you "are" the game. It sounds fantastic, if you eliminate the price.

I agree that GT-TV is going to offer PD and SONY a lot of options as far as content goes. Another free option is spectator mode for GT5 online racing events, or you could add certain highly rated racers to spectator mode. It could link to your Home space if you got a big screen TV. There are all kinds of things GT-TV would be good for.

I would suggest though, after the shock value of your title wears out in a few days that you change it. ;)

I think they would have to give a date & time to watch GT-TV to see the video for the release date. Otherwise people would read the story on the net before ever going to GT-TV it just takes to long to load, for me anyway.

I don't think that would be a good idea, there are still a lot of people that don't yet have a PS3 & GT5P.

Nothing wrong with that, it's part of being "exclusive". More reason for people to get a PS3 & GT5P, elimininating the complaints of "they're leaving me out, that's not fair, yadda yadda yadda" Consider it a benefit. Shoppers at Target don't get the same benefits and the employees do.

I'm still waiting for the day I can add you to my friends list!!!! Get with the program!

Well, but you realize that within five minutes of that video on GTTV that it's going to be plastered all across the webs, don't you? ;) Then we can go watch for ourselves. I think it's a dastardly clever idea, and they should DO IT!

I actually have GT5P but no PS3:dunce:.(I wasn't sure if the $10 at Target was permanent or not)

I plan on buying a PS3 soon as I can, until than I am reliving GT's PS2 history.👍

Edit: Also that would require them to release a release date for the release of the release date. Now I have to go because that gave me a headache.

No, you are not kidding. You were sat there trying to come up with a thread for the sake of it. Reality check for you - forums don't need crap like this. If you don't have anything meaningful to voice, don't bother.

I can't see GT TV going towards real television.
One area KY might explore is to use GT TV as a video sharing media. You have a race you save it and then upload it for everyone else to see. Special events, random races all could be uploaded on the GT TV with the push of a few buttons. That will be cool.

this thread was supposed to be a laugh, we don't need people like this idiot taking it seriously.

I'm more insulted by the use of grammar than the actual reply.

Thank you, you made me laugh.

Seriously, if you find the thread "stupid" or a "waste of time" because you have no other better way to express yourself, then report it, it's just as simple as that.

Back on topic, there are many routes GT-TV could take another being something similar to Gotham TV, and I'm basically going off of what AvanGard included, but Gotham TV has a Heroes Channel, Tournament Channel, your Friends' Channel, and finally Your Saved Photos. GT-TV going in that direction would be quite interesting because you netting the fastest lap time around any track compared to the million other players around the World would make you a "Gran Turismo Alumni", or something. Along with that would be the other nine or nineteen players that have also made the board.

After that you'd have the Tournament and Your Friends Channels, both of which don't really need much of explanation. However, perhaps the option of being able to comment on the style, speed and execution of your friends races it could become more of an overall "involved" experience. Finally, you have Your Photos, which GT has had since the fourth. Here you'd be able to upload your photos and have other players rate them and you would have different photos framed in your garage.

Basically, the same general ideas as PGR 3 and 4, but I think it would add to the experience. 👍
