GT1 better than GT2 ? =\

mani_23 !! How the heck does GT3 just carry over to PS2 ? It was alright but was missing the much needed Hood camera GT4 has.

Not to mention GT3's 3rd-person cam is way to big (can't barely see the track ahead of us)...

And the great gauges..:] GT4 best by far for me, except for the stupid musics that always give me the red loading clock of death. I can never take care of GT4 =\ Disabled songs..not a biggy..the farthest I've went too..but damn Slipstream Missions I'll never handle :X

I hear ya Parnelli Bone. Golly. Sure, I'd assume GT1 debut focused on cars more. GT2 seems..to have cooly tracks..cars are terrible tho. Blocks zipping around..

Yup. As usual, there are some exceptions though...the Aston DB6 looks great for instance. Aston DB7 looks like a rolling blob in comparison. Seems PD focused on certain cars (some classics, especially) but were time-stricken with alot of others, could only devote so many pixels/time before needing to move on to the next car.

Another thing about GT2 is they put way too much glare on certain cars. I'm talking about the car-wax shine. Again, this affects some cars more than others. It's bad enough that the shine extends over the wheels (Suzuki Cappucino is a great example) which looks silly, as if the entire car has a clear lexan sheet hanging over it as it rolls around.

...the car wash also doesn't make so much of a difference like it did in the original GT. I have a Nissan 240SX (GT1) that I've never given a car wash, for instance...its paint job actually looks oxydized! :yuck: Like if you scratched your fingernails on it, it would go scrrreeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!! In GT2, it doesn't matter if car washes are given or not, they always maintain some of their shine. 👎

Look at the wheels and tires in "GT" they look horrible flat slow motion some not even moving  lol. Atleast in GT2 they look alright moving at least, colors, textures, lighting in GT2 looks a hell of a lot better. GT2 is way more interesting than the original IMOH.

I would agree to a certain extent about the wheels. Another advantage GT2 has over GT (so far as wheels go) is the fact that they're scalloped or indented. The wheels in the original game are just flat, if that makes any sense.

In my opinion GT2 is better in all ways. Better graphics, better models, much better physic, much more cars and tracks.

More models...not really better models.

Physics are better, I'd agree there. Alot of cars in GT1 drive like they're on a slot track...

More cars and tracks...obviously...

But in other ways, is GT2 really better? Where is qualifying? Where are the turbo boost multipliers? Why do cars never lose their shine in GT2? There's more models, true, but why are so many of them crappy-looking? If we were to eliminate model names, could you really tell them all just by looking at them? 💡 Why can't we save or load our game from the garage in GT2? Is it really always convenient to have 2 discs to play one game? :D What about the garage bug in GT2? Is it really always convenient to save records from the Max Speed test, knowing your entire game could be sabotaged in the process?

...I could go on and on, but that's enough for now. :P

Hehe ohh Parnelli Bone..damn Arcade.

I never understood Arcade I do what it says in the menu thing where you do tracks over and over easy medium to hard difficulties and you're supposed to unlock crap. If they're just for credits I wouldn't bother..for cars hidden track definitely I'd hop back on again..0.o

I say GT1 is better. Not as many bugs, had a pretty hefty amount of cars, and enough tracks for fun. GT1 has the better graphics, including the Hi-Res Special Stage courses, and it just felt crisper. Surely GT2 has more cars, and tracks, and gameplay, but I have more FUN playing GT1.
Keyword-FUN.

Graphically speaking GT1 is very nearly on par with GT3. More "cartoony" but the graphics are very crisp.

GT2-much more fun to actually play. And if like me, you started with GT2, and didn't know about GT1's graphics, you prolly played it and had a blast!

I also like the dynamics of car handling on GT2 better.
On GT1, I always feel like I'm driving on snotty glass.
Every car seems to "push" in the corners, right up till snap oversteer occurs.
If you can become truly Skilled driving GT1, then the rest of the GT series is just different cars and tracks, cause the physics are easier to master on EVERY subsequent game.

Meh. GT1 is awesome...I'll always have great memories of the first game; but I got bored with the lack of cars (American and European) after 3 or 4 months. I'd agree about GT1's better graphics, though. Yes, they're cartoonish, but there's more detail; overall more attention paid per each car.

GT1>GT2
Better graphics, better gameplay, better resolution, less bugs, one disc instead of two, and is'nt rushed.
