Let's find out which car is the best!
Lancer EVO vs Subaru WRX
The task is simple. Buy both cars. Do the very same mods on them. Tune them. Then run them back to back and compare.
The only stipulations: If you run a WRX ver 4 then your Lancer must be an EVO 4, Let's give the Subarus a fair chance since even fully modded they tend to have less horsepower (at least in GT2). Secondly, if you buy the Full Race transmission only change the auto setting number, and if you run the Lancer at Auto-10, the Subie must run at Auto-10. That ought to keep things pretty fair.
Post your results in the thread.
0-400M, 0-1000M, and fast lap time of the track of your choosing.
I hope some of you find this interesting.

GT2

i bought a STi Ver.VI and a EVO VI. A 22B STi is also included in the bunch.;) The mods are as follows:

Racing Susupension
Normal tire/SuperSoft Slick tires

I'll soon let you know on the results such as 0-60mph runs, 0-400m, 0-1000m, track results, and top speed runs.

You may add as much stuff as you want. The point here is not only to find out which is the best stock. But which one responds best to modification.

ill do the same but ill tune mine. the lancer is more powerful fully tuned than the sube so ill try and tune them to the same power rating.

Doesn't that kind of defeat the purpose? I thought the point was to compare the cars credit per credit. But your way definitely would test the handling comparison.

I have a stock WRX wagon and a Stock Evo IV, and a heavily modded Evo VI. I'll have to check the version number of the WRX. I'll try to contribute here if I get time.

Anybody know if the wagon is heavier that the sedan? If so, how much?

In the last issue of the now-defunct Turismo Informer, we had an AWD comparison. We used the Lancer Evo VII and the WRX Sedan. The WRX won only the top speed test. In all of the others, the Lancer defeated it.

OK!

stock impreza wrx sti version vi 99 (295hp) no mods with auto transmission.

400m 13.793
1000m 24.891
top speed 281.17km/h

stock lancer evo vi gsr 99 (305hp) no mods with auto transmission

400m 13.512
1000m 24.687
top speed 241.72km/h

wrx fully tuned to 490hp (muffler, turbo, intercooler, chip, grind and balancing only mods)

400m 12.341
1000m 22.001
top speed 299.29km/h

lancer fully tuned to 593hp (muffler, turbo, intercooler, chip, grind and balancing only mods)

400m 11.844
1000m 21.465 (limited by transmission)
top speed 244.39km/h (limited by transmission)

the lancer wins 2/3 and doesnt win 3 because of the short ratio transmission.

the lancer is also much better taking tight corners because of the yaw control. subes just cant compete with the power and performance.

Gee...isn't that what I said?

Sad to see the Rex get defeated by the Lancer, but numbers don't lie. At least I don't the real thing on the street yet threatening me. ;)

Now for my two cents worth: The Lancer is indeed marginally quicker, with the stock gear ratios. You can with tweeking make both cars much faster.
The Subie is still better looking. But while fun this is much like comparing Angelina Jolie and Jessica Alba. Both are seriously hot and you wouldn't be embarrased if your friends saw you with one.
Keep comparing if you wish. Thanks for you participation.

We are waiting patiently.
After all this time I pulled GT2 out and I tested an EVO 4, EVO 5, and EVO6 against a WRX 4, WRX 5, and WRX 6. I also did the 22 B for kicks and giggles. AltF8 can gloat, for he is correct.
First of all the EVOs are quicker than the WRX of the same vintage.
EVO 4: 0-400M: 11.184
WRX 4: 0-400M: 11.333
EVO 5: 0-400M: 10.567
WRX 5: 0-400M: 11.112
EVO 6: 0-400M: 10.689
WRX 6: 0-400M: 10.962
The WRX's did aquit themselves on the track, for the most part. I ran at Midfield (of course).
The Lancers ran 1:13.002 @ 165.24 mph, 1:09.355 @ 166.7 mph, and 1:10.065 @ 173.9 mph, respectively for the EVO 4, 5, and 6.
The WRX's in order 1:12.823 @ 165.6mph, 1:11.364 @166.7mph, and 1:09.212 @ some speed I forgot to write down. :D

All the cars had full custom suspension, racing soft tires, sport brakes, race flywheel, carbon driveshaft, 3-plate clutch, engine balance, port & polish, stage 3 turbo, race intercooler, race muffler and ful-race transmission. (auto to 10 in all cars)
With the exact same suspension settings. I did not mess with the springs on any of the cars, or final drive ratios.

The EVO 5 and the WRX 6 are the standouts both very quick and fast around Midfield.
The 22b ran 0-400 in 10.963 and had a lap time of 1:10.193 @166.25 mph. Both times very near the WRX 6.

The numbers don't lie. With equal drivers the Subie will have to have a better set-up to beat the Lancer in a clean drag race. The reverse is true on the road course.
Keep those results coming. ESPECIALLY you GT3'ers. We haven't heard from you.

TTT

my RWRX STI Version VI hits 10.3's anyways.......i'll have to tune the EVO very well to get some times.
