Oh yeah, definitely, even trade all the way man. :D

J/K, I think you know the answer to that

Josh, I think you are one of the fortunate few who is given the chance in this day and age to reflect on what is truly important and good in our lives. You can take this time to think about other things such as......................................................................um.............................................uh.................................................................graphite pencils!....ah yes, graphite pencils are good...but you could also think about.......um....................uh.........trees! oh of course trees are good too.....and......................um.....................salt! where would we be without salt? really?......so see, you aren't as bad off as it sounds, you can just get back to all those other things ....besides Gran Turismo 3...because there is so much more.....i think......well maybe not.

i was going to leave my ps2 home while i go on vaction next week but now you make me see how hard life would be without it now....its going with me now.

Man i feel sorry for you Josh.

Yeah, it sucks pretty bad. :nervous:

Hey, I'm sorry to hear about your TV, that really sucks that someone would steal it :frown:

Hey, Josh, man, what about your S2000? You can put that through the twisties while you wait for GT3. Maybe look into aftermarket upgrades? Thats what i would do. Its a nice car, too bad i am not planning on getting one, i have a 2 year-old kid (he already plays GT3) and have to settle for something more practical. I just gave my Integra to my younger Brother and am looking into getting possibly the new Passat or an IS300 manual (when it gets out), or something in the area. In 2-4 years i see myself getting an M3 or a 911, but thats in the future.

Hey Josh,

It's day #2, how are ya holding up?  Doing Good?  I'll have you know that my wife insisted and was pretty excited about watching a DVD that she had rented.  Normally I would ask her to kindly go upstairs and watch on the small TV in stereo instead of the BIG TV in 5.1.

Then I thought of you with no PS2 or GT3, If Josh can do it for TWO weeks then I can be without GT3 for TWO hours.  So I did - it was hard, very, very, hard.  I feel for ya man, hang in there.

I'm doin' good, it's not so bad. I just get online, and look at car pics to occupy myself. :D

Lemans- That's cool that your kid already plays GT3 and he's only 2! Passat's are very nice cars. I sat in one last year at a car show, and was very impressed. Me and my brother tried convincing our Mom that she needed one, but she didn't go for it. I also like the IS300's(guy my Dad works with has one in that Saphire Blue color, or whatever it's called). I wasn't too fond of their gauge cluster, but it's still really nice inside. I'm almost positive I don't need to tell ya how sweet the M3's, or 911's are.... :D

Mmmmmm,.....Porsche... 😈

Yeah, the 911 is one sweet ride. I had an Acura Legend Coupe 5spd a few years back that was a nice car. I had a friend who was close with all these dealerships in PA and we used to go there every weekend and take all these cars out for 2 days. My favs were the F355, Diablo, M3, all 911s, all Vipers, Turbo R - to name a few (you all know the manufacturers, i hope). The most memorable car i ever drove was the '85 Ferrari GTO (Gran Turismo Olmogato) - what a beauty. - it was just like the one on this picture i found on the web: http://hjem.get2net.dk/Anders_Rasmussen/Ferrari%20288%20GTO.htm

As for the S2000 - i love the car. I even have a Maisto model of it (AutoArt did not make it when i got it). I mostly collect Autoart, BBR and MR. (Not long ago sold one of my BBR Modenas on Yahoo http://page.auctions.yahoo.com/auction/51453109 )
Have you installed any aftermarket parts on it? Whats your best 0-60 and 1/4mile run?

(Edited by Lemans at 11:48 am on Aug. 1, 2001)

hehe... i got another one

PS2 - $300
GT3 - $50
Memory card - $25
SVideo Cord - $20

Your facial expression as you smell the plastic of the  overheating power-supply melt into the floor after 5 back to back endurance races - Priceless

Lemans- The only thing aftermarket on my car would be the 18in. Racing Hart C5 wheels, clear corners, and a K&N filter.

That's all I have in the aftermarket area, for now.

I haven't ever taken it to a track, so I have no idea what I would run in the 1/4, or my 0-60 times. I'm sure they'd be a lot worse than what most people could get out of it though...

ahh... that looks nice. Not many cars look good in white, but the S2000 does look beautifull. Is it me or did Dodge copy it in the new Viper? I mean the front and the back look very close in design, no?

How is it in every-day driving? If i'm not asking too much, could you answer the following questions?

1. What do you like most about it?
2. What dont you like?
3. How is the clutch in traffic?
4. How is the handling in foul weather?
5. Is the top water-proof or is there some leaking?
6. How is the instrument panel? Do you like the digital speedo?
7. If you had $35,000 again and no car, would you buy it knowing what you do? If not, what yould you buy?

Thanks.

To me, the front end does kinda resemble the new Viper.

To answer your questions...
1. It's a convertible, I love the way it feels when I'm sitting in it, fells all snug like the seats are grippingmy body.
2. No torque
3. I've never had any problems with it. I can't compare it to any other car's clutch because the S2000 is the only car w/manual I've driven.
4. It handles very well in all conditions IMO. Not as good as my Dad's car, but I've never had any serious issues in bad weather.
5. So far the top has held up great, no leaks as of yet.
6. I think they could have made the panel a lot better looking. I actually like a digital speedo better than I like regular ones, just easier to look at.
7. Probably not. I would more than likely try to find a 98-99 M3, if I could find a nice one for around $35k. BMW's are 10x's better IMO. The quality of my Dad's 328i is extremely impressive. The only nicer car I've sat in, was a Lexus at a car show, but it was around $90k... :embarrassed:

The only serious problem I've had with it was the digital speedomteter just quit working one day. Had to take it to the Honda Dealership, and get another one put in.

If you're thinking of an S2000, test drive one a lot before you put too much thought into it. You'll probably wanna go the Bimmer route...

Thanks for your reply. One last question, when did the speedo go out? What was on the ODO?
As far as torque goes, i know what you mean. If you like it in the low end, go with something else. I had the same feeling with the Integra. As far as BMW M3s go, i found the '99 year model to be a bit strange. You have the torque, but its not punchy off the line. You have to ring it up a bit and dump the clutch to get a kick in the ass. Otherwise its very linear and you dont feel like you are rocketing 'till your eyes catch the speedo. I guess its just smooth due to the broad torque band, but i'd like a bigger punch, know what i mean? Smooth is good, but sometimes you just wanna rip. I wonder how the new ones go - never had a chance to test one yet, but from the press reports and tech data i'd guess its just about right for my taste. If i had $35,000 all to myself and a choice of any car not limited by any factors but my own desire, i'd get the new M3 and pay off the remaining in installments over the next year.

Thanks again for your reply. And sorry if i put a little detour on the topic.

my neighbor had a 1999 m3 but recently sold it and is waiting for his 2002 audi a6 to arrive so in the meantime he decided to buy an alfa romeo (convertable but not sure what model)

I'm sorry, but I honestly have no idea of the exact mileage at the time of it quitting. I'm thinking it was around 6 thousand miles, but don't quote me on that though. I'm not sure exactly how the guy my Dad bought it from drove it, but I assume he drove it pretty hard. He sold it for a Supra TT, so obviously it wasn't fast enough for him. :frown:

I also want to know how the new M3's feel. There are a few of them around where I live, and they look really sharp. I downloaded a video of a '02 Laguna Seca blue M3 that was turbocharged, and that thing hauled some serious ass. :embarrassed:

As far as putting a detour in the topic, it's okay, most threads end up talking about something totally different anyways :D

Josh, does your brother have any PS2 games that he didn't take with him? If he does, I say you hide them for a while. Oh, I know! If you have a PS1 or DC, then hide one or so PS2 games in that system... haha! Good luck getting ur GT3 back soon. Anyway, do you know when you'll have everything back??? Cya.

Dave

We have a bunch of PS2 games, but he wouldn't miss any of them if I hid them, he'd probably just go buy new ones. :frown:

I'll be getting it back in about 12 to 13 days... :(
